Quruli, a group of three talented musicians, has got to be one of the most versatile bands I have ever heard. Their musical range goes everywhere from folk to punk to electronica to lounge and jazz. Amazingly, and probably what makes me like this band even more, their signature styles and sounds are consistent throughout.

Formed in Kyoto in 1996, Quruli was an independent band recording in a recording studio that was actually just a room in a house. After their initial two releases, "moshi moshi," and "fanderia," Quruli was signed to Victor Speedstar (199 cool . Their debut single, Tokyo, was almost immediately followed by several other releases, all of which were well-received in the Japanese music world.

So what makes Quruli so special? Hard to really locate what it is about them that makes them so amazing, but it's probably got a lot to do with their upbeat, happy sound and catchy melodies. Perhaps it's also the fact that their sound can change at any moment (and sometimes violently). Or maybe it's the laid-back atmosphere that surrounds them and their music?

Regardless of what exactly it is that makes Quruli so amazing, this Japanese band has definitely got loads of talent and the ability to express that talent well. This is definitely a band that I want to keep up with in the future, and definitely a band that everyone should check out--there's really something for everyone here.

Have you heard The World Is Mine? That's definitely my favorite album of theirs. I also like Team Rock, Antenna, and the Joze to Tora to Sakana-tachi. The others I find kinda boring... I mean there are some sweet tracks, like "Tokyo" and "Aoi Sora" but for the most part, I don't really enjoy them as much as the others.

"antenna," is an amazing album. My favorite album of theirs is "TEAM ROCK," simply because every track fits so well with the others while at the same time offering a great deal of variety. Great album.

As for the album that I fell in love with? That would be "THE WORLD IS MINE" just because it has WORLD'S END SUPERNOVA on it. <3

You know, I'm looking for someone to start collecting now that I've finished with Shiina.
I haven't heard anything by them, but they look so cool, so maybe I'll start collecting them.
Good idea?

EXCELLENT idea heart . What's great about collecting stuff from Quruli is that you never know what sound you're going to get (unless you've been told otherwise). I'd say the best thing to do is to get their discography in order of releases. The singles are much harder to find than the albums.

If you have slsk, then feel free to download them from me. My slsk username is -hyou-, same as my Gaia username. Right now I have all of the albums and 3 singles, I believe. PM me, and I'll add you to my userlist~.

I heard Zukan and wasn't too impressed to give it another whirl.

It's not one of their best albums... pretty boring, actually.

Yeah, Zukan isn't the best of their albums... If you want to give them another listen, then try TEAM ROCK or THE WORLD IS MINE. Those albums are wonderful. heart
