Continued from the thread. :3 Split Personality Umo was padding slowly, happily for once, along a well worn trail. His black coat sparkled in the daylight; his celtic tattoos also a-glimmer in the sun. He was slightly warm, but he could deal with that. For once, he was happy to be in the sun. For once, he was happy anyway. He liked his new life; his mate and child. Kikawaida, his whispering jewel of his life and Kinamasi, his swamp jewel. His family. Though they were not in the same pride, he loved them.
He blinked his crimson eyes blinked in the daylight, as he walked along the tail. His heavy built muscular body moved gracefully as we went. Small huffing sounds came from his throat as we walked. Taejira Long before the small feline came into view, one could hear a soft jingling sound. As Seke rounded a bend on the same trail, going the opposite direction, he became visible. He was rather small, even for a serval, and walked in a very smug manner, almost a prance, as though he was very pleased with himself. His coat was a shiny dim grey shade, dappled with bold spots and stripes. As he walked, his tail waved behind him.
Spotting Umo, the serval let out a light "ppprrrrtttt?" sound and trotted forward with much curiosity. He smiled, slate green eyes wide. "Hello!" Split Personality Umo was surprised by a... well.. Unusual sound. His small ears perked forward. What was that surprisingly jolly sound coming from. He looked around, his eyes darting for a moment; before the small serval came into veiw. He stopped walking, watching for a moment as this feline. He blinked. "Well, Hello" He spoke, his voice monotone. He lacked all pitch and movement to his voice.
"Never heard a sound like that before" He said, his voice flat. Taejira Seke smiled brightly, padding lightly over to the lion without any apparent thought of his size. If Umo had wanted to, he could have easily broken the serval's neck with a swipe of his paw...but this did not seem to occur to Seke. He gave one the impression of being rather cleverly stupid.
Seating himself gracefully at Umo's feet, he began idly washing a paw, glancing up as the lion mentioned his bell. "Oh yes," He replied, looking proud. "It's a bell, see?" He puffed out his chest, displaying the shiny gold bell smugly. Split Personality Umo blinked slowly. Wow, this little guy... well not really little; but smaller than him., er never mind. He studied the feline for a moment. "It is a bell. I am not familiar with 'a bell'" He said, his voice lacking in tone. He looked down at the seated Seke.
"How did 'a bell' get around your neck, may I inquire?" He asked, blinking slowly; a smile across his face. He was intrigued by this new noise, not to mention a new creature. Taejira "You're not?" Seke asked, tilting his head and looking curious before becoming distracted by a bug crawling across the ground in front of him. He looked back at Umo, ears tilting forward. "A bell is a little...thing..it makes noise!" He explained helpfully. At Umo's question, he looked thoughtful. "...Someone...put it on me, I guess!" He answered after a while. Truth be told, he didn't really remember. Seke was not really one for long-term memory. Split Personality Umo shook his head slowly. He had never heard anything but the natural sounds of the plains. The slipping of water on stones. The birds. Never the sound of the pleasent jingle. ""No I am not. It is a pleasent sounds I may add." He spoke, looking around for a moment; watching hte little bug as well. Hmm.
"I see. Well. Does it interfere with your hunting? It seems to me it would warn the prey of your hunting." He said, rather know it all like; though monotone. Damn his monotone. Taejira "Thank you!" Seke said proudly, getting up and trotting in a small circle to make the bell ring some more before once again seating himself in front of Umo. "I like it." His ears flicked idly as his gaze slid to the clear sky. A bit easily distracted, really. Tilting his head at the lion, he blinked and shrugged. "If I'm careful I can keep it still," he said cheerfully, then paused. "Also, I mostly go after really dumb prey." Another knowing nod. Split Personality Umo nodded his head, his brown mane shaking slightly. He bent his head to itch behind his ear with is hind foot; before sitting back to normal. "Well, I guess you would have to like it. Whether or not you liked it freally, since it is connected." He said with a laugh.
"I see, well. I figured. Course some prey would not recognize that sound. That... what ever sound that it. Like a bird.. only sweeter." He said. "Like the meow of a kitten." He said thoughtfully.

"Indeed!" The serval said agreeably, lifting one delicate paw to wash it. "I got used to it, anyway." Placing his paw back on the ground he smiled toothily at Umo.
"Some prey is much too smart for it. They hear any sound and run away.." He looked slightly disappointed about that state of affairs, then brightened. "But SOME are really stupid!" the small feline added cheerfully. He tilted his head at Umo's comparisons. He supposed it did sound a bit like a bird...but overall.. it just sounded like what it was - a ball.

Umo blinked for a moment before he looked back to the little cat creature. "I suppose you would have too. I am Umo." He said, nodding his head, for her felt this was a good time for introductions, since they were having this pleasing conversation about... that bell thing. He curled his tail around his front feet.
"Yes, that is the hazard of your bell. Many creatures do not trust a twig breaking, let alone a bell... making that noise." He said, closing an eye for a moment in throught. He wondered if his daughter would have trouble not breaking twigs...
"I suppose it just makes it a challenge to hunt"

"I'm Seke!" Chirped Seke, beaming and giving Umo one of his most charming looks. Though he could be rather annoying at times, the serval had yet to encounter anyone who didn't like him, for one reason or another.
Well, except that crazy maned wolf who kept babbling on about evil spirits. But she didn't count.
"Not really," he said sleekly, looking rather pleased with himself. "I can catch small stuff...like mice, if I'm fast!" the little cat let out a tiny purr and watched Umo through half-slitted eyes.

Umo looked down at this strange fellow, with his tinkly bell and his... well... odd attitude. He smiled warmly though, being that he enjoyed his company very much so. He actually found he was intruiged by this Serval, very much so... He blinked crimson eyes; looking up at the sky and then back to his new friend with a smile. "I'm Umo" He said, his eyes alight with a certain glow while the tip of his tail flicked.
He thought for a moment at how well himself would hunt with that small round thing aboust his neck. An image of him running with all his might while his prey skipped away because the small noise of a kitten mewing... or a frightened bird; was present. He shook his head from this thought; happy that he was like he was now... without a little bell. "You have an advantage... Even with my big paws I can not catch a mouse very easily. I do not know how my mate manages to catch frogs. It amazes me." he said looking upwards with an amazed look. "She lives off them practically.

"Mice aren't very SMART," Seke explained helpfully, beaming. "Once you get 'em in your paws, the tend to panic and freeze." the serval nodded knowingly. "Not too hard!"
At the mention of eating frogs Seke stuck his tongue out almost kittenishly. "Yuck! frogs?" he asked, shaking his head and causing the bell to jingle merrirly once again.

Umo chuckled; bringing a paw up to cover his face. Of course he knew that. He turned his paw so it was paw-pad up and toes spread. "Well, they still can get past my claws." He said flatly, flexing his toes all wiggly-like. He was feeling rather giddy... even childish. Perhaps it was the vibe this serval gave him. This Seke. He shook his head; putting his paw back down with a flick of his tail.
He chuckled at this gellow reaction to frog eatting. "Well, my mate lives in the swamps and lived off frogs for a long time. She was very alone for a long while." He said. He had also been alone for a long time. His attention was grabbed by the pleasent sound of that... bell again. "So, does it hurt? That thing aboust your neck?

"Your paws are very big," Seke observed with a nod. "And mice are very small." He smiled. Seke wasn't stupid, he just didn't see why any effort to appear intelligent should be made. It took too much effort.
"The swamp? That's weird. I've never seen a swamp before!" he said thoughtfully, squinting at Umo. "Are they...squishy?"
The small serval laughed a tinkling laugh that sounded almost like his bell at Umo's question. "No, it doesn't hurt!" he said with a pointy grin. "I hardly feel it at all."

Umo glanced down at Keke's tiny paws and suddenly had a great respect for his ability to catch mice with them. He smirked, glancing at his own paws wiht less respect for them... He shuffled his feet. "Yeah, my mate has lived there always. She ate frogs because she could find nothing else... they are actually not that bad. I have had two or three." He said with a smile, looking to the right with a cheesy grin.
He looked surpirsed that the device didn't hurt. He almost had an itch to scratch from just by looking at it about Seke's neck. So much so that he took a quick moment to skritch himself. "I would go insane personally.

"Well, I think that's gross." the little serval stated matter-of-factly, sniffing. He got up, padded over to Umo, walked in a small circle and curled up by the lion's paws.
"Well," Seke replied, looking up. "You got that...big fluffy mane, I think that'd be just as annoying!" with that, he laid his head on his paws and let out a little sigh.

Umo could not help but chuckle at Seke's discust at frog eatting. One creature to anouther... He recalled catching the slimey things, looking down at them and wanting to cry. Once he got it past his lips, it wasn't that bad. Chewy but not bad. "It was sort of gross. But I got over it." He said, his tail tip twitching at remembering how difficlt it was just to watch Kika eat a frog.
He looked down at the serval, glancing at his own mane. "Well, I suppose. When I get wet, it looks very silly... and when it is hot... Well. It is very hot under all this mane.' He said with a shrug. "I sort of like it." He said, with a smile.

Yawning and placing his chin on one of Umo's huge paws, Seke settled in. He didn't seem to mind that it might be considered a bit odd to just curl up on the feet of someone you'd just met.
"Gross," he repeated sleepily, then opened one eye to look up at the lion's mane again.
"I like it." He decided firmly. "It's fuzzy. Like a big furry head-blanket!"

Umo shrugged at the head blanket statement. It wasn't always hot, but now that Seke mentioned it... his mane was very hot in the high sun. He shook himself, looking at Seke; who seemed to be just giddy on Umo's legs. He smiled.
"It can be hot sometimes... but Imagine what I would look like without it." He said with a laugh.

"You would look like a lady lion," Seke answered in a muffled sort of way from Umo's paws. "And that would be funny!" the serval added, trying to imagine Umo as a lady. It didn't work very well.
"But it might be very confusing," He amended after a bit, though he knew that male servals didn't have manes, and he still had no trouble telling them from the females.

Umo chuckled deeply, his tail curling over his back and twitching at the end. He had not often sat and thought about what he would look like missing one thing or anouther. He shook his head with crimson eyes glittering with glee. "I imagine I would very much look like a lady lion Seke." He said, reaching up to scratch his ear with a big ol' paw. He looked down to the serval with a smile on his muzzle. "I suppose it would be funny would it not? I would very much look like Kikawaida or my daughter, I suppose." He said, shutting an eye and looking upwards in thought.
He looked back down, admiring the little serval. Though he was a bit; odd and he had that 'kitten' bell around his neck; he was still a nice friend.
