Well, a few owners and I were chatting, and we came up with the bestest idea ever! A feien Survivor competition! Basically, the way it works would be this...

Any feien volunteered (OOCly) would be "kidnapped" and brought to the competition location, divided into teams, and given tasks to accomplish with the goal of winning some sort of prize, possibly a special gemstone or unique items. The event would last possibly a month and a half, with "immunity" challenges occuring twice a week, or three times if necessary. I'm looking at having the event occur in November.

While the feien are busy trying to kill each other for shiny objects, the owners with missing feien can try and figure out where their feien have been taken, so there's roleplaying aplenty for both sides.

There may possibly be an entry fee. Having a seperate guild for the event might be wise, but on the other hand... I'm starting to think it would be easier to run challenges in an AIM chat room, so we don't have to deal with Gaia downage or lag. This means you'd need an AIM screenname. Also, there would be no need for a separate guild if we used AIM chat rooms, thus possibly no entry fee. (Though since this does involve prizes, it would be nice. ^^)

I do have a couple of rules up-front: you may participate with a max of two feien, the only exception being me, as I will be controlling the character(s) running the event, but also want to take part in the fun.

All of the challenges would be stat-based, which is where I need your help. I need a bunch of ideas for tests and things. If you have an idea, please post it here, and include the stat(s) used in the event! Team events are particularly important.

As for what I mean by stat-based: every time a challenge occurs, it will be divided into rounds. Each round, a 11-sided die will be rolled. If the event is stamina-based and your feien has 6 stamina, s/he needs to roll 6 or less to continue in the event. Just because your feien has high stamina doesn't mean they'll win... If a feien with 1 stamina managed to roll 1s and a feien with 9 stamina rolled 10s, well, that's that. smile Also, I'm using an 11-sided die so that a feien with 10 does not automatically win.

I NEED A LOT OF EVENTS COVERING ALL THE POSSIBLE STATS! I don't want too many strength tests, too many dexterity tests, etc.

After challenges, there will be voting, of course! All the participants get to vote for the person they want to see eliminated from the competition.

I'd also like to see who might be interested. Please post here, tell me what feien you're thinking of using! Competition is open to both juveniles and adults, of course.

Possible Team Events
Relay Race
Each team member is set up at a certain point along a course and must run an object to the next person. Standard relay, really. In order to complete their leg of the race, the racer must roll three checks each round: stamina, speed, and luck. They must roll a total of six successful checks in any of these areas to proceed to the next racer. You could successfully roll two of each stat, or six of one stat. Obviously, it will probably take longer to roll six of one stat, but at least everyone could complete their leg of the race (provided the die are good to you).

Group Jigsaw Puzzle
Each team gets a 9-piece jigsaw puzzle to try and assemble together. Each turn, two feien on the team must roll successful intelligence checks and two must roll successful dexterity checks in order to successfully place a puzzle piece. The team that completes the jigsaw puzzle first wins immunity!

Possible Individual Events
Larvae Meal
Each person is given a bowl full of, yep, little wiggly insect larvae. Whoever can eat the most wins! Uses stamina.

The Trivia Final
The final event for the last three contestants will be a trivia contest, which will not require any stat rolling. It will be a test of who learned the most about the other competitors. The winner goes on to the final two, and gets to pick who goes with him/her!

Possible Entrants
RikProwley/Fifth

Also, I'm pondering allowing/banning gemstone-enhanced feien. After all, Corvus would automatically win any dexterity/magic challenges, and Yeande would automatically win intelligence and magic. Unless you guys wanted to allow them -- they could certainly still lose in any other stat challenges, and there's no reason they can't get voted out for being too much of a threat to the others, not to mention personality issues. wink Please give me your two cents on the issue. Do you personally think the competition would be too easy for them, or that you could knock them out if you wanted to?

Anyway, help me out here folks! biggrin

I really like the idea, and I do plan on participating in the event (providing time allows it, as I plan to have a job by that time). As for game ideas, you've already listed the ones I thought up... XD;; So, I'll try to think of other things soon.

What feien would I enter...? That's really a good question. ^.^;;; Well, I'd probably end up entering in Ares (because...she's just my favorite. Tahki would cause chaos more than likely, and Merri...well...we'll see). Depending on what happens to Merri if/when he merges with his gemstone, I may enter him as well, but from as this very moment, my chances are probably on the new bloom. ...Yes, I'll definately be entering in two of my feien, as I love to make a challenge for myself.

Banning/Allowing enhanced feien...personally, I think that really depends. I understand the issue one may have with, for instance, Corvus and Yeande, since they have very high stats now in some areas. However, that may not be true for all enhanced feien, am I right? Say I merged Merri with his stone by then. (I'm only using him as an example to prove a point, not because he's my feien.) Of all feien with a gemstone, he does have one of the lowest stats right now. When he does merge, his stats may or may not change drastically, as it seems to be different with each stone (for instance, there may be more physical change than stat change with one stone, while another is more powerful than physical). So, if that situation were true, and Merri didn't receive any major boosts from merging with a stone, I wouldn't see how that would be fair to him to be unable to participate in the event because the two other enhanced feien had higher stats. ...So, yes...my opinion is on the fence. *cough* I think it would be more fun to have all feien be eligible to participate, personally, enhanced or not. If this is dice and stat bases, the enhanced feien might not have an advantage afterall. ^.^;; Who knows...maybe having higher stats will end up putting them in a disadvantage...

...So, yeah. That's my 2 cents.

I'll reply! Behold, replying.

It sounds fun to me, though I'm not big on stat-based things (I like the depth of roleplay then relaying on numbers) they CAN be fun too - and more importantly it seems like an event that can get a lot of feien to interact together. The feien sorta seem to have their own little cliques and are absolutely oblivious to the existence of everyone else! This would force those usual groups to break apart and realize there's other quirky people out there to meet. Thats my opinion, at least.

Since I dunno anything about stat stuff I'll probably hold my opinion on banning/allowing enhanced feien ... though on a mild level I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed, if they breeze past certain events then they'd surely be voted off for being too uber. XD

I'd have to ponder some ideas for events and help out then, it sounds like something fun to think about. X3 And as for possible entries? Since you're allowed 2 feien you'd definitely be seeing Calico and Tosten in the event and hopefully not causing any, ahem, accidents. Either of them. ^_~

Sounds wonderfully fun. X3
O'course, I'd enter with my lil trump card. ;3 Banana Tango.

I agree with Nekota-kun :3 It would help establish more relationships outside our little friend cliques and also give the feien, ICly, a better understanding of their lil community.

Stat based events would help with some of the guess work so maybe a mix of both?

I don't see why we should disallow them, maybe set aside gem enhanced specific events for them mixed in with the regular stuff? Like how some games have the novic, intermediate, and expert levels in them. :3 Like Neko said, since there will be dice rolls, maybe the boosted stats won't put them TOO far ahead.

As far as events go, hmm..

Has anyone heard of that one game called predator and prey? Where you have a group of people that are marked as predators, some as pray and others as natural disasters and it's the job of the predators to catch the prey and the predators and prey to avoid the natural disasters. That seems like an intelligent based event as it deals with cunning as well as physical prowess.

Or a scavanger hunt of sorts. The kind that had the clues in the form of riddles? Like on that one old Nickolodeon show with the incan temple whatevers. XD;

Maq & Q would definitely be in on this. One question, though: If they've been "kidnapped", does that mean that they can only RP in the Survivor-related threads? Journal entries and personal experiences would still show up in the diaries, but other than that, I'd imagine there'd be no tavern hopping...

I'm liking this idea... a LOT. biggrin

I am keeping my opinion about the enhanced Feien out of it, because I DO have one and would like to play her. However, if people decide that they don't want her along, I will NOT be upset or angry, etc.

I DO have another Feien, after all. *G*

So either way, I will be there with one or both of my feien!

Since I was there when we were discussing this, you already know how I feel about it XD I'd love to sign at least Globin up for this (he needs socializing). As for Talon, maybe....I don't know. I might just end up entering whoever comes out of the newest bloom ^^;

As for the enhanced feien, maybe they could participate, but as they have an unfair advantage in some areas against the others, perhaps they could be handicapped somehow? (those who are extra strong or fast have to wear weights, etc.)

Great, another thing to lose sleep over. I'm naming my first ulcer after these little guys biggrin

First a Question: How do you plan to run the competitions time-wise? As far as I know Feien owners are pretty global, and getting everyone together at specific times may be hard due to work, classes, and timezone differences.

Second a Suggestion: Have there be several different levels of competition. Those of us with newer Feien have a very minimal chance of winning against adult or enhanced fairies who have been around for a long time. So you could avoid this by having a "Fresh Outta the Bloom" division for those feien fairies who have only been around a short while or have had very limited activity, a "Lightweight" division for those who have been around a while longer and have had moderate activity, and a "Heavyweight" division for those adults who have been around quite some time and have been heavily active. This way the enhanced feien still can participate, and those brand new folks or less active ones won't feel like it's a futile effort to compete against Feien who over time have become strong at just about everything.

I'm not interested in doing divisions of any sort -- it's Survivor! Besides, so far there's not a lot of people signed up to where it would at all justify different classes.

For those of you unfamiliar, in Survivor, a bunch of folk are dumped on an island. They're split into two teams. The teams compete. The losing team votes a person off. Eventually, there are so few people the teams are combined, and competition goes to individuals.

New feien have just as much chance in a stat-based environment as older feien. Every feien is weak in some area, and stong in another. thus the need for events that play off different stats, And besides, with rolling enough is left up to chance.

I can't possibly think that running this event as roleplaying-only would make sense AT ALL becaues it would take MONTHS. Chats would be scheduled at a time when we can get the most people involved possible (using GCD method), and if you can't make it to a particular chat, well, you just won't win that immunity challenge, but you'll get a chance next time. At the same time, you get to roleplay with other feien to create alliances, which are probably the most important thing in Survivor. "Next time we vote, vote off that guy I don't like, and then I'll help you vote off someone you don't like!" "Stick with me, we'll go to the Final Two!" Etc. Etc.

So, strong numerical component, strong roleplaying component, and mastering either will allow you to win.

Besides, though feien do get stat increases over time, it's not to the massive point where you'd have to worry about your juveniles not being strong enough. The stat increases are only significant for the Enhanced feien, really. And a brand new feien has a very good chance to win because s/he won't come into the competition with enemies. After all, Corvus would probably take the first possible chance to get rid of Aileron, or Yasha, or Tosten, or Gogol... which could very well backfire. In fact, of my feien, I think Fifth probably has the best chance to win. He only has standard stats, but so long as he sins pretty enough, he's probably be able to drag himself far alogn in the competition. Simon, maybe, because he might be seen as a good player, willing to follow others instructions, but he's prolly be knocked out by his unwillingness to play the alliance angle. Simon's stats are prettymuch average, too.

And then Corvus, who has the most stats of my feien, has the least chance to win because the minute he opens his mouth and starts bossing folk around, they'll resent it. He'd never win the final voting.

Oh, that's another part of Survivor. When it's down to the final two competitors, everyone who was eliminated gets to come back and vote for who they want to win.

Anyway, that's my stance: that stats are only a part of the competition, and everyone has about an equal chance.

Yes, you'd be allowed to post in your diaries.

Sounds fun. I think that I would have both Sunil and Ruya participate, although I'm not sure either one would have what it takes to win. ^_^

heh, count Celaien in. ^_^; i don't do much with him due to my own time constraints (even with a "normal" time zone) and i'm sure he'd love a chance to get out of the house. h'anyway...

suggestions for events? umm. for the Luck stat, you could have one of those things where they choose a place to dig and if it's right they find a key- good luck roll would mean finding it, bad one would mean not finding it? or a modification.. sweatdrop i dunno, just rambling off the top o' my head...

Ianios wants to be kidnapped. Aria however does not! As for games, I have no idea, lol.

I like this idea a lot. As for which feiens would like to participate, I know Shux would be good. Possibly Rislin.

Games could be good if based off ones they do on the show itself, or ones similar to it.

Stamina- standing on poles
Speed- eating bugs
Wisdom-putting a puzzle together
Strength- breaking a mini pinata

Things like that.

If it's over AIM, I won't be able to participate. But if you set it up in a new guild or in this one I would say, sure. Try to kidnap Silva sweatdrop Of course, he'll probably be voted out quickly enough. *shrugs* Can't beat 'em all...

I would definitely do it.

Oddball Val would be an interesting addition. I'm more readily available on AIM anyway.
