Yessiree. A brand new type of zoid model is headed our way, courtesy of Kotobukiya, generally well known for their figurines. Now one would think that they'd made zoid figurines but this isn't the case. Rather they've made a brand new type of Shield Liger. Now I'm sure you'll all groan at the prospect of yet another Liger and understandably. However, keep reading and I'm sure you'll be whistling another tune.

Looks different yeah? Well here's the scoop. It's a posable model kit. Not just any posable model kit either. This baby is supposed to feature part complexity on the level of the Master Gundam line. It's super detailed, super posable and remains at the same scale of the other zoids of 1/72.

Featuring multiple small parts, it'll likely be a decent build. Look at the detail, the missile arms have small hydraulics, there's a zoid core (though somewhat larger than it should be), all four panels on the head are deployable, the limbs are fully jointed, even the toes look to be posable. If that weren't enough, it's even supposed to be able to support the old CPs and as luck would have it I have a spare CP-01 :3

Yes, the head looks a bit funky and that's received mixed reactions. Some people say it looks ugly, some people say it's a brave new attempt (ie, polite talk for 'it looks weird') and some people like it. No matter what though, this is something new for zoids and it has the potential to be huge. My informant tells me (and this guy correctly told me of a certain Limited Blue Lanstag over a month before it was unveiled in a hobby magazine) that there'll be a Saber Tiger and Red Horn in the same vein as well though personally I think that's dependant on how well this does.

Personally, I love the idea and kit. I've wanted this kind of super posable, super detailed model kit for years now, even long before blox appeared on the scene. I'm going to be getting one for sure and I highly recommend you all get one too.

Oh and on a random note, there's supposed to be a new Whitz Wolf to come out in the future months too. Most probably a straight recolour and my intuition tells me it'll likely be a convention exclusive like the Blue "Mass Produced" Lanstag is.

Wow. I love how posable that looks! I just wish there was more blue on it. XD;

I hope it does well!

So...pretty.*drool* I MUST BUILD! Only problem I see though is that it's much sleaker than the Shield liger in the series and games. More of lion than a liger.

Technically speaking all the "Liger" zoids are classified as Lion type in the entire model kit series. And rather than the entire kid being different, it seems to me that it's mainly the head which is propotioned differently which brings with it relativity errors given how freakin huge the Shield Liger's head is.

I'm guestimatin' around the 5,000 yen mark myself. Shield Liger isn't exactly small but then again, the parts aren't too complex. Who knows? I know that a figurine from Kotobukiya can cost a lot but I don't know why they do that.

((It kinda looks like they just stripped the sheild liger and put a gun on its tail...))

A proper price is out. According to a hobby magazine of some sort, the Shield Liger will cost 4,200 yen which is around US$36-37.

Amenbo has opened pre-orders for the Shield Liger and I expect HLJ to follow suit soon. The price is much better than expected at a mere 3,400 yen whcih is about US$27 or so.
