The temple itself was well cared for, but its inhabitants or rather a single item was the cause for the glares and distrust. The Dark Tablet was housed within this temple, it held the secrets to the element it was named for. There was anger and dissaproving speculation as to wether or not it was evil simply because it had the word 'dark' on and in it. People that were any older than twenty still remembered the fear that the 'dark' side had brought to them. Anyone under seventeen would have knowledge of what had happened, but they wouldn't feel as if it affected them personally. (Even though it affected anyone older than fifteen.)
You would walk onto the grounds and see a japanese styled medium sized temple. It had a number of steps to travel up, as all temples seem to have. Entering the temple you would think someone had turned off the sun. No fire would sustain in the same room as the tablet because, of course, it was the tablet of Darkness. A number of feet away from you would be a wall with some benches and such things along it for visitors to sit on. There were only a few priests and priestess' around. It makes you wonder about the apparent evilness of the dark, is it truly that bad?
There are living quarters a ways behind the temple and you can see through the windows that, though they are open to thier widest they shed no light inside. You absently note that the sun is shining brightly outside. Anyway, the quarters are a lot worse than the temple, in some places you could see the rot in the wood where paint and plaster had chipped off.
You sigh and think to yourself, such is the fate of those that serve the dark.
((You can be a priest or priestess, a visitor/patron, or someone that lives in the quarters with the priests and priestess'. It'll give you all a chance to roleplay like people in heavy poverty that are full of angst and such things.))
A new country has been discovered far to the east, and the tension is growing. Jadeira has finished her training, and now presides over the kings and Queens in Esperanza. The chaos to the east has caused much disturbance. Fear that Pearle, and Houka will turn on their neghbors causes turmoil among the many smaller kingdoms, and alliances are forming. Since the west has not yet recovered entirely from Laos' last attempt at power, there's not enough people to defend Esperanza were an attack staged, for more than a few months. Things have been as normal as can be expected for the last two years, Until lately that is.
For two moons a young girl has been found dead on the alter in the dark temple. These events have left everyone confused, and sick with fear. So far, after examinations of the bodies no evidence as to the cause of their deaths has been found. No scratches of abrasions anywhere on the body, no poison in the veins, Every woman is in the peak of condition save for the obvious. They're dead.

The young queen stood at the entrance to the temple, with the constable, and three of her most trusted advisors. She massaged her temples, trying to fight off the growing ache. The last few months had been well...Hectic, to say the least. The gathering forces to the west definatly didn't calm her nerves, and these frequent murders did nothing to build her peoples confidence. Rumors were flying, many were ridiculous, but they did their job just the same. The people were beginning to believe that they had been abandoned by the gods, because their queen was daughter to the source of all evil... She really couldn't blame them for resenting her for that. She herself even felt sick at the thought. The newest victim was daughter to one of the most powerful nobleman in the realm. This was not good. Last night she had, had to send out envoys to houka, and pearle, asking them to recall some of their representatives. Chief on her mind was the lovely young princess Etsu from Houka, If the emperor lost his eldest child, there was no doubt on her mind that he would march on Esperanza within the hour. Definatley something to be avoided if she could help it. She also had grown quite fond of Etsu, and didn't want to have to see her layed out neatly on the altar like some kind of doll. Shivers ran up her spine. She turned to the constable, and gripped his arm tightly. "Why have you not stopped this murderer?"She demanded sharply, "Night after night, innocents are killed. Did I not tell you to place all your best men on the job. Take care of this man, Im placing my trust in you. I don't want to find any more bodies in this temple you hear?"

Waking up the next night Kado looked around the room and then heard a strange noise from the streets rising up with curiosity he moved towards the window and looked out, and there in the strret was a lady being bantered by 3 shady looking men. Kado being struck by anger began to grab his head and staggered around on the floor. his demon of anger was rising inside of him and than he began to scratch the ground around him and than reaching for his sword without knowing it himself he broke threw the glass on the window and unseathing his weapon came down upon one of the men and cutting through his colar bone and down the tripeze muscle the man screamed out in agony and fell to the ground in a bloody mass. than coming up in an upward cicular motion cut another man's underarm and throat, than the remaining man started to charge at him with nothing but his bare fist and kado stuck him threw the middle of the chest and pulled up on his sword causing the bone to split, and the man fell in a heap. Than Kado fell to his knees and than lost conciousness...

she looked around at the slaughtered men and sighed, They could be replaced, but that would take time she didn't feel like taking. Ah well, She placed a hankerchief over each of their faces, and pointed at a cluster of men whimpering in the shadows. "You three, take care of this, make sure all the funeral rights are performed, and get them out of the streets pronto." She gazed at the crumpled form of their attacker, the constable had already bound his wrists, and cofiscated his weapons. She rolled her eyes and pushed him out of the way, "You have a job to do sir, now get it done, I'll deal with this Vagabond." When the man started to protest she gripped his wrist with one gloved hand and threw him into a bale of hay. She stood right intront of him, and knelt down to gaze into his frightened eyes. "I am not in the mood for arguing sir, now get it done or I will find someone more suited for the job." She turned to the crew now carting away the bodies. "And if one of you so much as talks in your sleep about what you just saw here, I'll make sure you never work in this kingdom again!" She snatched the bundle of weapons from a sergeant, and tied it to her horse. she grabbed a length of rope and looped it around the horses middle. "Now if one of you fine lads would tie this man to my horse I would be grateful-careful of his head now."
She galloped down the cobbled road to the palace gates, arriving just in time, for the watch sealed the castle at dusk. She untied the man and caught him as he slid off the horses back. "oof" She handed her horse over to a groom, and managed to bribe a few stable hands into helping her carry the man into one of the many guest rooms. They pulled off his boots and tossed him onto the silken sheets, then she walked out of the room down the hall, motioning for the boys to follow her. " I want three guards on that door at all times. I want to know if he so much as moves in his sleep, and kami help you if Im not fetched immediatley upon his awakening." The stableboys bowed deeply and backed away. "Yes, your Majesty."

A patch of shadows near the entrance of the dark temple throbbed, and a tall slender woman emerged from the darkness. Her long black hair fell down to her waist in waves and her skin was like pale moonglow. Despite the darkness her green eyes glowed cruelly. Her pale thin arms cradled the battered and bloodied body of a woman in her early twenties. The woman was swaddled in a long robe of white silk, and her dark hair was matted and tangled with something that looked an awful lot like blood. Sibel carried her prize into the temple and layed her out on the altar. She gazed down at the mangled body of her victim and sighed inwardly. Things would be so much easier if they would just cooperate she mused, as she gently stroked the womans tearstained face. She took her hand and whispered a word, a pale, barely audable light formed there and spread up through the limbs, healing the broken body, and cleaning off the layer of blood and gore. Now this woman could be sleeping for all anybody knew. Of course they did know. Every few mornings she could hear the cries of horrer and despair. On those days, she ate breakfast with the window open. She stood, and walked towards the exit, feeling rather pleased with herself when a dark shadow blocked the opening. It was a constable, judging by the many badges and ribbons stitched to the front of his leather jerkin. "Halt!" He cried, raising his sword into a defensive stance, and trying desperatley to see the intruder. Sibel laughed, a high, cruel laugh that sent shivers down the constables spine. "You dare try to stop me, you pitiful swine. Your like a worm trying to stop a dragon, you have no hope of winning. She smiled, her fanged teeth gleaming. And now I can't let you leave. Her form wavered and disappeared. The constable looked around frantically to locate her, only to feel a hand run down his arm. He turned slowly, to gaze into those green eyes. "Hello Dear." She smiled, and then forced him to his knees. He was now shivering untontrollably, as he felt a length of cold steel slide through his ribcage like butter. "Wh-who are you?" He croaked, blood gistening on his lips. She sighed and straightened her gown, before walking toward the door. "Fools, the always ask the same question, you'd think they'd want to know something more interesting." She turned around to look at the still form of the constable. "I am the death dealer." She whispered, before shutting the door. And disappearing off into the night.

Waking up drearily kado looked around at what seemed to be a holding chamber of sorts as he tried to stand he was caught by binds and fell back down there was a small torch burning in the center of the room and an old gothic styled door. He slowly looked around as he heard a sound from the door and a woman entered...

Jadiera leaned up against the archway and gazed at the berserker. Only moments before her handmaid had notifyed her of his waking. She had hurried to his chamber so fast she hadn't even had time to dry her hair. It hung damp, down to her waist. and the thin silver circlet upon her brow was slightly askew. Her pleated tunic was of crimson silk, and went down to her knees, with a black belt cinched tightly around her middle. She also wore black leggings, and highly polished workboots. Her only adornments were the crown, that signifyed her position, and a gold ring on her right hand, with her families insignia. She motioned for the servents to leave the room, allowing only two burly guards to stand at attention near the exit. She crossed the room, and sat in one of the high backed chairs near the fireplace. Then, she turned to face the man, and smiled slightly. "I hope your arrangements suit you sir." She began quietly, " I had requested that you were left unbound, but apparantly My word has no meaning here in my own Palace." she turned to raise a brow at the two guards, who quickly bowed, and untied Kado. She grinned toothily, "Why thank you my good men, now if would be so kind as to leave the room while a have a little chat with this young man?" They nodded, and exited as ordered. That taken care of, the queen turned her attention back to Kado, "That was quite an interesting display back in the city, or at least I thought so. You may be possesed, but your talent is all your own. That reminds me." She pointed to the chest by his bed, "I've had all your weapons cleaned, and polished, You should find them in the second drawer along with a change of clothing."

Standing up and Kado looked at Jadiera and slowly walked to the bed to sit down and take off his remaining equipment such as a belt with only a few pouches and weapons obviously removed. After getting comfortable he turned his attention back to Jadiera and than waited for her to begin talking.

The little queen sighed, "Im having quite a field day trying to excuse the deaths you caused today..." She suddenly smiled brightly, "Not that I don't have proper respect for the dead, but that fight really was magnificent to watch!" She laughed quietly to herself, "Do you have living arrangements in town?" She questioned idly, scrutinizing him with her gaze, as she waited for his answer. "Maybe Im being blunt, but we could use someone of your...talents, here at the palace, you may have any of the rooms you desire, and I assure you, the pay is decent.

She chuckled, and motioned towards the door, "Then your free to go...although any such antics like this afternoon will result in your detainment, The constable will only humor me so much." She smiled, " Im not trying to keep you prisoner, nor am I asking out of pity." None of my guards are as good at you in combat, we really could use you here, but I won't take away your freedom, you may come and go as you please. But I don't belive I have your name?"

Looking at the fire and thinking carefully Kado thought of the cchances he may have if he agreed to stay here and than he looked towards the queen and replied "Kado, thats what you may call me, and as for staying I will stay around for some time" than looking back down he looked at the queen and began to wonder What exactally she was going to use him for and than he laid down on his bed and stared blankly wondering when the queen wasd going to leave because he has infact quiet tired and wanted to sleep but not saying anything he just layed waiting for another question.

She sat quietly for a moment... "Kado, herm? My name in Jadeira. You may already know that." She smiled brightly, "Do you think you could teach a few of the guards some of your tactics? It doesn't have to be all of them, but maybe if you taught just one or two, they could teach the rest." She brushed her hair out of her face, and leaned closer, putting her elbows onto her knees, " I don't know why I keep a guard anyway, I can defend myself..." She noted absentmindedly, "Well, someone must guard the ramparts I suppose..." Sighing, she got to her feet, "Well you didn't sleep for very long and I suppose Im not the most entertaining person to talk to." Laughing she walked to the door, " Room keys are on the dresser, your maids can show you where to bathe, food is in the baunquet hall for another few hours, or you can order in your room through one of the kitchenhands. If you need to find my just ask around, Im usually not that hard to find." She opened the door and stepped out into the hall. "oh-one more thing, the practice courts are on the main floor next too the stables. See you around Kado."

After she closed the door he sat up in the bed and looked around the room and then he got up and put on his clothing and went to the window and looked out and than silently leapt out. He still had some things to finish of his own before he could worry about anyone else cominig to the main gate of the castle he sat down to quickly search about for some in one of his pouches and than saw a shadow of someone walking towards him...
