Okey dokey, I heard a few assignment suggestions in a few threads. So I thought that we start this early and discuss about what we want to do in the near future.
So far, I've heard fanart and illustrations focused on hands. Those are fine suggestions and if you have more ideas feel free to speak away.
Personally, I'd like to take a creative approach to our future assignments. Sometimes these technical requirements can really bog you down. So what I am thinking right now is that we have a theme for an assignment such as.. oh say, different cultures, your own representation of certain object, or anything really. The point is to focus on a theme that will allow your freedom for interpretation.
Kay, that's it for now. Suggestions? Comments? Shoot away.

well there is the option of illustrating a passage from a book or a poem. You could either choose it, or have us choose our own or both (but keeping a common theme among what we choose...)
Often just giving a word and then have people make their own interpretation of it works too (in class this past year was "Creativity" or any of it's divergents- "Creation" or "Create".
Hm....there is also creating an abstract portrait where you draw symbols, etc to show your personality...um...
I think that's it...if something else comes to me I'll let you know...

Mythology? Cyber punk? Cyber punk mythology? xd
A theme with different cultures would be fun, and so would illustrating book excerpts.

I think getting away from techincal aspects is good especially with things like Linear Perspective that make me draw backgrounds. I hate teh backgrounds!

Landscapes aren't bad, they just aren't any fun. xp
I'm a person who loves detail, and it's hard for me to put forth the amount of detail into such a large space such as a landscape. I would prefer that we don't do one.
How about an asian theme. You may even do fan art if you wish.
Or we could do realism. But I guess most of you are in to drawing anime maybe?
How about anime characters in space? Or something like that. Like a space suit or something.

I like the illustration idea. Or having some kind of a common theme for all of the entrees. I would like to see how different people tackle the same general concept.

Landscapes are fun, people! They're just hard to render... so many testures, like grass and rocks and tree bark, owww.
Maybe one day a nice assignment would be to make up your own fantasy creature! It could be humanoid, or animal or whatever so we'd still have freedom with it. We'd have to make up a name for it, and some species facts.

Celleh Maybe one day a nice assignment would be to make up your own fantasy creature! It could be humanoid, or animal or whatever so we'd still have freedom with it. We'd have to make up a name for it, and some species facts. I like the idea, except for the making up facts about the creature. But making one up is cool. That means people won't be showing up with fairies and dragons, cause those have already been thought up.
