I was watching my X-Japan Last Live DVD one weekend night. My Mom was sitting in the kitchen, which has full view of the TV. I was watching the opening, Amethyst, where all the members were running onto the stage. And I could tell she's watching it from the kitchen. (She kinda likes X, she loved Art of Life)
Suddenly, as expected, she starts asking questions about them because she's interested in my obsessions. xD When hide runs on stage the following conversation goes something like this:
Mom: "Is that hide? The pink haired one?"
Me: "Yep."
Mom: "Oh, ok...he runs like a woman."
Me: ...O.o "Eh?!"
Mom: "Are you sure that's a man? He looks like a woman."
Me: gonk
Now... hide is one of the few artists that I listen to, that in my opinion, looks very much like a man. My mother obviously thinks differently. confused I've showed her pictures of Mana and countless visual kei artists and she's always said they look like girls. When she is told they are in fact, men, she replys "Oh, yeah, they kinda do look male...their features."
But hide? Noo...she is convinced he is female. o_o

Her reasons that he is female is that:
- He runs very daintedly (sp?)
- He looks very dainty, as in his features
- He likes pink. (-laughs-)
- He just acts very cutesy and womanly.
- He holds his guitar like a woman
- He does push-ups like a woman!
She can tell Mana is male.
She can tell Izam is male.
She thinks hide is female.
It doesn't make sense. xD
So...any help to convince her he is male? Or is hide actually in fact, a true female?
HUGE EDIT: I just found this from Yoshiki's journal entry...it's suspicious. o_o
There are many mysteries revolving hide. One mystery that still remains today is: for some unknown reason, hide would not like anyone see his top naked.
When we were backstage, we usually hung out together, so how could we not see the top part? But, really, I've seen the bottom half, but really have never seen the top half. *laughs* He's always changing secretively in a corner somewhere.
"hide, do you have chest hair?"
Even though we were joking, but in a live, when Toshi would say 'take it off', hide would never take it off. He'd always say 'take it off', but he'd never do so himself. He really does follow his own rules.
Even when we went swimming, he still has to wear a shirt. That scene is really weird and somewhat suspicious.

Yeah. I can totally tell that Genkai Haretsu (can't spell tonight) was written with a women's point of view xD.
How do you hold your guitar likea female o.O;. I wasn't aware I held my guitar any differently then the guys. Anywho, I don't know how you can convince her, who really cares? Let her think what she wants xd

I know, 'tis weird. She also says he does push-ups like a woman. (In the live of Orgasm) He does push-ups like any normal person does them, man or woman. ._.
Yeah, I guess so, but I'm determined to prove to her that he is male. Just for the fun of it. 3nodding

hah, i know how ya feel. most of my friends who don't know him say he's a woman, and when i tell them he's one of the sexiest men ever to live, they just look at me weird..
i think its the eyeliner/shadow that throws them off a lot.

Like I have a picture of him in my locker and everyone is like "Is that a girl?" and I defently try to explain to them who hide is and the history of hide and they are like, "No way he's a girl you have no idea what you are talking about".
I swear to god I will punch someone in the mouth if they say that again stressed

It is rather humorous.
But no, hide is 100% male. I don't think i'll ever hear a woman have that kind of voice.
Your mom is one of those stubborn people that just can't be swayed... I've never seen someone so adamant on a gender debate

I just went and told my Mom and she replied "He's a girl with a flat chest"
Then I said that wasn't possible, he had a very flat chest.
So finally she said "Ok...then I'll have to give in. I mean I don't think a girl would go around topless."
Obviously she hasn't seen any J-Rock PVs -cough-DirengreySADShide-cough-
I didn't show her the actual PV because she'd might be the type who would say "You shouldn't listen to music like that! D<"

My mums convinced Gackts a girl =.=..
Im not really sure what she tyhinks of hide..my friend thinks hes cool though,
and designed a character after him 3nodding with a pink spider too. heart
>< I wish my mum would take some interest in my jrock stuff. I hate not
being able to relate to anyone around here~musicwise....So I get her to listen to Dir en grey while shes doing her makeup >.>;;

Im not really sure what she tyhinks of hide..my friend thinks hes cool though, and designed a character after him 3nodding with a pink spider too. heart >< I wish my mum would take some interest in my jrock stuff. I hate not being able to relate to anyone around here~musicwise....So I get her to listen to Dir en grey while shes doing her makeup >.>;;
Apparently this student in grade 6 at my school did a speech on hide. eek (We have school-wide speeches every year) I was going to find out who he is, but I kept forgetting. So I looked him up in the yearbook and he's Korean. I should have asked if I could read his speech. xd
My Mom does like J-Rock though she likes Gackt and is in love with Hyde. rofl
I got her to listen to some X-Japan and she said she liked them, and that Art of Life sounds very much like Supertramp. (Her favourite band.) She thinks their style of dress is weird though, as I thought she would.
She also listened to some SADS and MUCC and said she liked them too. 3nodding
