Welcome to the official contest thread! This Thread is the place where all of the guild's contests will be held. This is the place where your imagination and creativity can soar free-except for the limits the contest places upon it...heh.. sweatdrop So whatever the medium-words, pictures-maybe something totally out of the blue. This is something we, as a guild can do together-all participate in so come on everyone, don't be shy.

Imagery, guys, Imagery
Okay, since Vendie won the last contest, I decided since I horribly neglected you all and such that I would post the new contest and that is another writing one. I want you to think of your favorite character, or a character that interests you and with all of your descriptive powers to write a prose paragraph describing said character, whether it be the character's power, beauty etc. Just write a prose paragraph. Don't worry about technicalities. Worry about the power of your description and how it will translate to the reader. I'm sure you all can do it so get writing.

This contest will be judged by those in the guild so everyone can be involved, even if they aren't entering. Once all the entries are in we'll either make a poll or a post for people to vote. That way mods can enter as well without being called biased,
Entry Fee
Sadly, the guild is low on funds at the moment so we need to put in place an entry fee. To enter the current contest you will need to give 100g.
How to Enter
~ Once you've decided to enter, write up your paragraph and then post it in the thread
Rules
There will only be one entry per person
You cannot vote for your own entry
If you haven't paid the entry fee by the time the contest is over then your entry will be discounted. We will give you guys ample warning though so don't worry.
I hope you are all up to the task and good luck

Suggestions for future contests:

I have a few ideas for contests if your interested.
1) Draw a detailed picture of a person, persons or event that wasn't in the movie and explain where it could fit it into the movie if it were to be filmed.
2) Take a character from the movie and draw them how YOU think they should have looked. Explain what you changed, and why you changed it.
3) a. Take an even that you like that wasn't in the movie and write it in script format. Describe where it would come in with the surrounding scenes and oh, if there are characters in it that arent from the movie, what actors would play them.
b. If there is a scene you didnt like from the movies, re-write it as you see fit so that it is more true to the book.
I know they all stem back to the movie but I figure it gives the guild members a chance to change the movies to be a little more like the books.

I knew there was SOMETHING I was forgetting to update.
Anyways, congrats to Vendie for the last one. From what I read, I think I can safely say you had a good chance of winning, with or without other entries. sweatdrop
Good luck to everyone on this one- If I find the time I may enter, or once again remain impartial for the hell of it. ^.^

And on ward to creating a new contest. An Art Contest!
Well, I noticed that well, it's time for a change. I knwo we have many artistic people in our guild who would love the chance to have their artisticness put to the test.
Rules
1. Well obviously, don't steal other people's art work.
2. Somwhere in the art work, you must put the name of the character.
3. The character must be from the Silmarillion
4. There is a limit of 3 pieces.
5. There must be at least four entrants before the judging happens.
6. The estimated closing date of the contest is November 3, 2005. If there are not at least 4 entrants then the contest will be extended.
Accepted Artwork
Art work may be coloured, black and white, animated, CGed. I really don't care as long as you drew it. But it must have at least one character from the Sil. The object is to show us how you pictured said character.
Prizes
Note: All winning art work will be displayed on the opening page (I hope, need to take this up with Nolah)
1st Place: Sealed Envelope for the month of January 2006 and 3 peices of Free Art (art shops that I am willing to buy from/have donations from will be posted at a later time. If you can volunteer, please contact me)
2nd Place: Sealed Envelope for the month of January 2006 and 2 peices of Free Art.
3rd Place: Sealed Envelope for the month of January 2006 and 1 peice of Free Art.

Ooh an art contest, eh? I think I'll do this one. *pulls out copy of the Sil looking for a description of ...anyone.* xd 'Kay I decided to do Luthien. I know it isn't very original, but I can only draw girls. I just drew this on a scrap piece of paper with drawings on the back because I don't like to waste paper and well... you can kind of see the pictures on the back a little. So I apologize for the bad quality. I tried to colour it to make it better, but I'm not sure it worked. I'll post the coloured and uncoloured one so you guys can tell me which is better. UncolouredColouredI also have drawings of Gandalf and Galadriel so if you need some more entries I'd be glad to submit them. I may submit the one of Gandalf anyway because I think it's cute.
