Past
Since he was seven-years-old he had been working on merchant ships with his father. For seven years more, he worked an honest life, being spat on and kicked around by the other crew members hidden from the view of the higher-then-thou merchants. Any retaliation would earn him the back hand of the captain and, sometimes, even from his own father.
He wanted to leave the first chance he got, he was too good for the ship. His knot tying abilities so far exceeded that to of the other carpenters, yet they wouldn't let him so much as carry a hammer without four of them looking over his shoulder so that they could take the credit once he was done.
He made the commitment to become a pirate one night and four days later, his ship went under attack and he didn't so much as hesitate to join the offending ship. His life was then much the same, and very different. They still spit, kick and berate him, only now they did it in the view of everyone and he was allowed to practice his trade with others that knew what they were doing.
That ship was wonderful and he was going up in the rank. Five years he served with Captain Avery, that existence was ended when the mutiny started to brew. Not yet an officer, he paid no mind to the words of taking the ship and throwing the Captain on some barren stretch of land to die. He did not view it as his responsibility, once he was made and Officer, then he'd do something about the restless powder keg.
Before that came up, the mutiny changed times before he gained word of it. He remembered waking up to seeing blood dripping from the deck above, the dark red sticky substance was trying to act like water as it flowed. Rolling out of the hammock, he grabbed his gear and was up on deck. Thrown nearly over bored when a fifty foot rogue wave hammered the side of the boat, the adrenaline and carnage was nearly too much for the young man. The thing he remembers most, even to the day he was reflecting, was the smell of the salty sea and the blue bandana flying in the wind. That bandana was Avery's, and he took it. What happened next, he couldn't remember. All he knew was that he woke up some time later, the sun blaring into eyes, burning his flesh, and a headache to rival the worst hang over. Surrounded by dead crew mates, he knew his dark duty and took to it. Each person was turned ten turns in sheets and heaved overboard. No prayer for their souls followed.
There were no alive people on the boat, and he thought he was a goner. Fate stepped in and a large pirate vessel came along. The crew leapt aboard and took everything they could, not bothering with him at first. He watched with a detached curiosity as they looted the plunder and power magazines. Distinctly, he remembered seeing a blonde female walking with a dark hair female and a rather large man. The blond was the only one that had his attention, one moment she was peaceful looking amonst the chaos, and the next she decked a guy for coming too close. Blinking, he started to think 'Well then..' However, his thought train was derailed from its course when the heavy set Captain put his hand on his shoulder. "Well, well what do we have 'ere? A deck rat left to scavenge the remains of his crew??" The man laughed deeply and looked him over, along with a brunette that reminded Tracey of the classic wench.
The blond looked at him then, the whole crew stopped what they were doing and looked at him. He thought quick and responded hoping to save his life, "My name is Tracey, a carpenter and last survivor of a rough storm." Honesty wouldn't save him, seldom saved an pirates, so he feed them what they might want to hear.
The Captain nodded, and everyone finished up what they were doing before setting the ship on fire. They left, only the blond gave him another look before she got off his ship. The Captain bellowed, "Well, lad, do you want to burn??"
Obviously, he missed the clue that he was accepted on to the crew. As the other ship started to sail off, and his started to sink. It was jump and risk drowning or certain death. Running full speed, he leapt onto the railing of his ship and leapt on to the banister of the other ship. Clinging for dear life, he managed to pull himself up after much effort and no help. It was a rite of passage, he knew this and expected no less from cut throats.
From there, his life was to the seas, adventures, and crawling his way from the bottom kept coming.

Friends
Annebelle: She is like a little sister to me, and I do care very much for her well being. It has been a while since I have seen her.
Tia Catterwall: She is not a firend, more like someone I can stand being around. She has sense, rare in this world. I was wrong, she is not only a firend, but more then that. I care very much for her. I might even be starting to fall in love, too soon to say.
Captain Adein: The misunderstanding resolved, I am sure this is a man I can follow with true, earned respect.

Record 1.
My old journal was destroyed so I am going to start anew. The past for me was bittersweet. Hard choices and destruction seemed to be my life story. Whenever I forget that I am who I am, I remember a time in my life that always brings be back. Annabelle and Kara were my sanity in a world that lacked it most of the time. Since I am searching for the record of it in what little things I have, I'll tell the short version of the story.
I was stuck on Kara's port town again, my ship dropped off to re-supply, on rum and grog, but not for the ship, yet. While they partied, I went to visit Kara. Sometimes I don't know why, she always tries to hit me first and then cries saying she is glad I am safe, women, I will never understand them.
As I was outside, I decided to go on a walk to a part of this area that I didn't know. The path I walked was worn, so it looked to me that many people felt the place at the end of this path is worth seeing. I am sure they did, however, I was not happy about seeing a tavern at the other end.
Alcohol is the enemy of every sensible man; shame is no one besides me seems to see that. Why I went it, I am not sure; however, I am extremely glad I did.
Sitting on a stool in the corner was a lady in great distress. The bartender and everyone in that vile establishment were either ignoring her, or enjoying her suffering. The bartender told me she was touched by the devil and that I'd get what she has. He went white as a sheet when I told him I was a devil. I am a pirate and I have been called a devil or demon nearly everywhere. Its not them that are important in this story
The lady that was coughing, she was the only one worth my attention at that moment. I went over to comfort her, and found out a bit more about what was wrong, she was coughing up blood, and that told me that Kara would be needed big time. Kara, a wicca and a female, would be able to help this lady a whole lot more then I could ever.
My self and Annabelle talked in that tavern a bit longer, and the patrons sealed their fates as they glared at her, I couldn't give a rat's tail about them glaring at me. Annabelle agreed to come with me, and said she'd walk on her own, I shouldn't have believed her. When she fell unconscious, I just scooped her up and left the tavern, for now.
On the way to Kara's hut, Annabelle woke up and apologized, I told her that there was no need. Looking up ahead, I remember seeing Kara, it was almost as if she knew and was waiting to see us. Once inside, I put Annabelle down and told her I had to leave to do something. I don't know what happened when I went to destroy the tavern and the cruel drunken monsters within. I do know, when I came back Annabelle looked like a completely different woman. Just taking care of her self and getting some of Kara's bitter pain medication did wonders.
I came back baring fish, so while Kara took care of them, I talked with Annabelle. To leave without being sure I was leaving her somewhere that she didn't feel comfortable, would be an unthinkable cruelty. Most people that find out Kara is a wicca, think she is an evil witch that will poison them. I am positive Kara told her, she has been pretty darn bold since I started protecting her. Annabelle confirmed that she'd be okay, and I told her that I had to leave.
Saying that I was leaving was one of the hardest things I had to do because of how sad Annabelle became. Not only did I call her little sister, to let her know how much I care, and to establish a connection, but I promised her I would try to find something to cure her. After a hug, I left and have not been back yet. I constantly wonder how Annabelle and Kara are doing. Kara is used to me not coming back but maybe once a year, so I am not worried about her worrying which would probably get Annabelle worried. Heck, when Kara worries, I even worry. I miss my little sister and Kara, but I'll see them again soon, I can feel it.

Record 2.
I am not sure why I am trying to keep this; my last ones were lost with the ship owned by Captain Avery. I suppose I need something to show all the work I put into being an Officer. To be clear, becoming Captain is not my goal at this time, that may change but for now, I want to be an Officer, no more.
I have been stuck on this spit of island for many, many days now. It’s easy enough to live, my carpenter skills are so good that I can earn what I need without a problem. I maybe a pirate; however, needless killing and thievery are not my trades. I prefer to amaze by my skill at knots then slay with my other skills.
There are a few people I have run into, including a he/she that I am not entirely sure the true gender of and a hyper active lad. In their company were two females that I was sure of the gender. The fools went off to find adventure, I went my own way.
For most of the day, I gathered wood and began construction on a boat to take me out to sea and away from here. So far, I found some good logs for a mast and have just begun making the rest of the wood suitable to bind together. This is going to take at least a month, worse is I don't have blue prints, nor have I actually seen a boat built before. As they say thought, a boatswain's mate is a jack of all trades and a master of none; this is just another trade for me to pick up by trail-and-error.
On my way 'home' I spotted a fire and went to investigate, I did not want every thing I had to go up in smoke because someone was careless. Once I was sure the couple there seemed to be staying around, I was going to leave without a word. The girl who wore a bandana spoke to me and I stopped. Captain Avery always wore a bandana; I had the last one he ever wore. In his memory, I didn't ignore the girl
When the male with her suddenly grabs my hand, shaking it and declaring that he was related to Frances Drake like that was supposed to mean something to me, I wished I had moved on. Really, it’s too much trouble to deal with people because there are the people who belong in the loony house like him around to irk people. Turns out he is a spoiled kid and a coward with no idea what it means to be a pirate.
I wouldn't have given him my name even if I did it normally; earning status with a guy that attached to you in any way was harder then pushing a boulder up a steep hill, with another one tied to your waist. It seems I managed to chase him off, leaving the girl alone.
I paid Captain Avery's memory off now; I don't feel like I owe him a thing. I made the offer to allow her to come along, debt paid. The fool Anvlop stayed around for a while, then just left, not before showing me that kindness is a fool act on him, as well. Tia was impressed, and able to make her own hammock. Now, I have some respect for the able female.
She doesn't cook badly either, and she even tries to look after me, which was quite surprising. I can say that I know I shall be able to take her company well. She also can take instructions, all pluses in my book.

Record 3
Waking up to a female screaming is not pleasant. I wish I was on a ship, then at least I wouldn't be stumbling over myself trying to get to Tia. It turns out she had a bad dream. I didn't pry into her personal affairs; still it would be nice to be able to comfort her somehow. I didn't want to, but like it or not I do care about her. My main duty is to protect those that I care about.
As we headed out, I spotted a ship in the distance. Our ticket to freedom was floating within view. Tia did something much unexpected, she hugged me. I haven't been hugged in..have I ever been hugged? Anyway, she realized who she was hugging and let go. I think a coconut tree or Anvlop would have done just as well. Its just as well, for the both of us.
The Captain of the Aurarius is a massive Dragon-kin. The first word that came to mind was Satan. I remember saying I would follow Satan if it would get me to sea. Demon, something some people know me by, because I have killed, I have plundered and I have burnt down homes. Most people don't know, is I do have one good quality, I know what mercy is, and I know what it is to be honorable. Okay, so that is two qualities. I have never killed someone who was unarmed, and I have never allowed a crewmate or the Captain once, to take a female against her will. When ever there was a scream of "NO!" I was always there to help. Needless to say, I was unpopular with my crewmates. I don't care if anyone knows or what they think about me. In any case, what does a demon have to fear from Satan?
The Captain's features looked like they would be a boon on the ship during battle. At first, he didn't look like he wanted to allow Tia on the ship, so I spoke for her. Both of us are now on the ship. From my promise, I have nearly fulfilled it. There is another problem as well, Annabelle. She not only has completely changed, but she became a pirate. I am unsure of what will happen when I finally talk to her. This also means there are two people I must look after.
The Captain gave myself and Tia doubloons and gave us our first orders, to go to the bar and get something to drink before getting on to the ship. Tia likes rum, I can't stand it. The reason is because the last time I drank, it was far too much, and I...No, I won't write it down again. She ordered water, which kind of surprised me.
After we left the climbed up the ropes to the ship and waited for something to happen.
