~Natori~

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alvara---Alvara is a port city that is the continent of Narvinye's link to the rare items and Altherie supply of Enathtai. This city is mainly dominated by merchants and black market traffickers, as well as pirates that take advantage of some of the lightly armed merchant vessels. There is an elaborate trade network that links these rare items to the rest of the world. From Alvara the items can be sent further south via the Nalista River to the fortress city of Altair, or the items and supplies can be sent south via another merchant vessel to either the small clergy oriented city of Celeste or to the massive port city of Gertea located in the realm of Sevadia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Celeste---Celeste is a mid-sized city that is mainly a place of religion. It is one of the few cities that condones even the most extreme of religious practices so many flock to its massive citadels and temples to offer prayer and sacrifices to their god or gods. Even more so than Imperi, the trade center for odd items, Celeste is the place to find rare artifacts that link to religions of the past. Tomes that hold unspeakable power and spelled items of ages past wait within the dusty alters of Celeste.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Altair---Altair is know as the fortress city. It sits upon the flood plain of the Nalista river, atop a a rocky foot hill off the Avaskas Mountain range. Though this was not always so. Over five centuries ago when the continent was ruled by a high king; and the great well spring of the Nalista river known as Lake Derivu was all there was that resembled a river. The high king decreed that a city would be built on the dry plains of Natori that would have unbreakable walls and would have the strength of swift waters to guard it as well. So a great project began to dig a vast channel from the ancient Lake Derivu to the western coast. This channel would surround what would one day become the great city of Altair. The channel itself took over a century of hard labor to complete, but the still waters of Lake Derivu leapt forwards into the channels to create the Nalista river, which surrounds the city of Altair even today.
*******************
Landmarks
The Nalista River---And explanation of it's origins can be found in the information supplied on Altair.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Avaskas Mountains are a low range of mountains that are heavily forested and riddled with many caverns and abandoned altharie ore mines that have been bled completely dry of their riches.

~In the Southern Expanes of Natori, the forest serves as a hunting ground. The trees and the foliage that makes up their umbrella, are only tools used for a greater cause. It is in the hieghts of their magnificance that a pecuilar hunter is seen. The caravan which travels through this forest is oblivious to their presence as the unter moves about, following their every action. Soon the caravan comes across an elven woman laying in the road, seemingly unconscious. The driver halts his carriage as those who accompanied him move in to investiate.

As they take the woman in to their custody, tossing her into the carriage witht he driver, the whimpers of several others within the carriage could be heard. It seemed that the caravan that now passed through their forest was an entourage of slave merchants. Almost immediately after the cage was shut, the woman opened her eyes to examine her surroundings. There were five others in the cage along with her. They had all been taken from their homes, and sold to the highest bidder. The woman in the cage sat up and looked toward the treetops as the carriage begun to move once again.

The hunter in the trees had begun to move once again, drawing a peculiar object from her garments and letting it drop from the hieghts of the trees. The thud of the obeject to the rear of the caravan caught the attention of the rear escort. He turned to investigate the noise as the hunter silently slid down the trunk of the tree. Upon reaching his position, she waited for him to pick up the object before coverring his mouth and swiftly cutting his throat. She then silently laid him down next to the tree, and took off toward the caravan, using the trees along the road as cover. Once one of the scorts looked back to notice their comraded had not returned, the caravan halted once again. The two of them, had went back to retrieve their comrade while the woman inside the cage moved to the front.

She slowly drew a small dagger from her sleeve and pulled the driver back into the cage, the bars keeping them separate. As he struggled to break free, she plunged the dagger into spine of the driver severring it completely from the rest of his vertebrate. She then let him slump back over the seat, and wiped the blood from her blade. As the other captives stared at her in awe, they other two escorts came running back to the carriage, a look of shock in their eyes. Once they opened the cage, the woman lunged her blade into the throat of the guard, while the other's back was turned. Once his body hit the ground, the remaining escort had turned his crossbow towards the woman. Before he could fire however, his body was cut in two, as the hunter's blade passed through his waist.

The woman than proceeded to exit the carriage, and drag the body of the driver off of his place in the front. She then released the other women, and pointed them in the direction of Celeste. The two assassins then made their way back to the tree tops as the five women took over the carriage and left the area. As they watched them leave, they removed their masks and let out a sigh of relief.~

That was interesting.

Men are so pathetic. Selling women as slaves to gain a profit. I don't even what to think about what type of people they deal with.

Yeah. But you have to admit. It was easier than they made it out to be.

That was only because we did not allow them to rendevous with their client.

Hey, Metairie...Do you think they'll come looking for them?

I doubt it. They were only merchants. Whomever sent them would most likely be the bearer of the consequences. in any case it is none of our concern. Our job is done. Kamille, let's head back.

~In the middle of the deep forest, there lay a village hidden in the treetops. Its borders could not be seen as there was a barrier...a cloaking spell which covered its structures and inhabitants from the wonderring eyes of travellers. Kamille and Metairie were part of this village, and they found their way back totheor home with ease.~

Hey, Metairie? Do I have to go with you to see the elders?
PostPosted: Mon Aug 07, 2006 8:50 pm

~Metairie looked back at her sister when she began to whine. She did not like this trait about her kin, but she knew all too well the reasoning behind her inquiry. She simply nodded to her, and waved her toward their home, while she continued on her path to make her report to the elders.~

What am I going to do with that girl.

~In the temple of the Tel'Sindavathur, the Elders were in debate with a man dressed in black. His face nearly hidden by the hat he wore on his head. His Crimson hair flowing down his back and the length of his blade extending from the sides of his waist. The insignia he wore on his chest was that of the Matanuska. The elders did not need an explaination to his presence, for they were well aware of why he had been dispatched to their stronghold, and how he had been able to locate them. His skill was far greater than that of any other that had entered their village. Any other traveller that sought an audience with the elders would have required a guide, but this man knew exactly where to find the village. How? That remained a mystery to all parties that may have been invovled.~

We cannot deny that is one of our weapons, but your presence here contradicts everything you have stated to us.

Is that what you believe? You are only a narrow minded peon in my eyes. You are elder in title alone do not pressume to label myself or any of my bretheren.

You claim that one of our assassins had been spotted lurking about your stronghold? Why did you not bring him back to us?

Our stronghold is hidden from the world deep within Enathtai. For an outsider to 'accidentally' stumble upon us is impossible. I can guarantee that by now, your assassin is dead. My question to you is this. Knowing that the Andeluvian Mountains are most likely the most dangerous area of the Four Realms, why would anyone travel to such a place of their own free will. Even the most prestigious of warriors avoid passing through its borders if they can avoid it. How would one assassin decided to disobey the orders of his clan? He wouldn't. He was following orders from soneone in this village. And seeing as you three are the only ones capable of approving such a mission...You are the most likely cadidates of foul play.

So what are you here to do?

I have come to deliver a warning. You who consider us savages, you have been marked by death. Should you violate our borders once more, the Wrath of the Underworld will deliver you the same fate as Anier in the Kingdom of Larovia.

You have our word. We will find the traitor and deliver them to you personally.

There will be no need. By the time you discover who he is, they will already be dead.

As Metairie proceeded to the Chamber of the Elders, she noticed a very strange man, leaving their Chapel. She did not usually take notice of outsiders, but for some reason, she ould not take her eyes off of this man. As she passed by him, time seemed to slow down for a moment. Once she was right next to him, she could distinctly feel the aura emitting from his body. Her mind became filled with images of skeletal beings, as wells as walking corpses. He was no ordinary man. It felt as if there was something else intertwined with his soul...something that was already dead. As her mind cleared, and he passed by her, she only stared at him as he reached the entrance to the village, and leapt from its heights, back to the road below.

Who...who was that?

~Walking through the forest of Natori's southern region, Kuroha had suddenly hidden behind a tree. He noticed that in the distance there was a platoon of stragely dressed soldiers. He did not recognize the insignia they bore on their armor, but one thing was for certain...they were hostile. They were gathered around what seemed to be a caravan of some sort. At their feet, seven elven maidens, brutally slain. He did not know whether or not they were the cause of this, but the fact that they seemed to take pleaseure in even futher mutilating the corpses as proof enough of their intentions. Once they began to move away from their victims, Kuroha slowly slid his blade from the sheathe being careful not to make a sound. He was certain that they had somehow sensed his presence, seeing as their formation was that of a ring, made to cover all directions as they proceeded through the forest. As they spoke to each other, he recognized the language that was spoken. It was the same language that he and his brothers spoke natively....the Language of the Dragons. It suddenly became clear as to what these soldiers were, but as far as he knew, the three of them, should have been the last of their kind. If these soldiers were what he believed, then all Azure had mentioned before his departure would have proven truth.~

This is not good. I have to get back to Enathtai.

~Azure had already made it to the Southern region of Natori before the group departed. His ability to utilize the shadows as dimensional gates played a significant role in his travels. Walking through the forest, he recognized the territory as that belonging to the Tel'Sindavathar. He Knew that his brother was in the area, and perhaps he would be fortunate enough to cross his path. While he thought of this, he noticed a particularly strange group of Soldiers in the distance. It seemed that they had been alerted to a hostile presence, judging by their formation. The stench of fresh blood stained the air, as Azure's pace slowled. It was not long before he was spotted, and the Soldiers all greeted him with both a familiar language, and malevolence.~

"Po dra vydac....Dra dnyedun ec rana!!! " (By the fates....The traitor is here!!!)

That language...It..can't be...

"Dyga res ymeja. Dra Secdnacc tasyhtc ra hud pa rynsat." (Take him alive. The Mistress demands he not be harmed.)

Ev ed ec y pyddma oui tacena...E crymm tamejan oui ymm du dra Necropolis. (If it is a battle you desire...I shall deliver you all to the Necropolis.) twisted

~Azure suddenly drew his blade, Kamakaze just as the first three guards broke out into a charge. Their movements mimicing a figure eight as they neared his position. They were not particularly fast, but their size suggested they possessed an incredible strength, and possible endurance. This tactis was obviously meant to advert the enemies attention from a single one fo their movements, while advancing, it seemed to be working for the moment. Once the first of them reached Azure's position, he swung his blade at him with a massive force, the sheer size of the blade treatened to cut him down at the waist. In what seemed to be the best option, Azure leapt into the air above the attack, and was unfortunately met by the second soldier, who attacked from above. This was a similar tactic to that in which he and his brothers used against their enemies. He raised his blade to block the attack, but just the force empowering the attack was enough to send him plummetting back down to the earth below.

As agile as a feline, Azure flipped out of his descent and landed on his feet. The third of the soldiers was behind him, again the attack came from above. Azure quickly rolled out of the way, and watched as the blade impacted with the ground, causing the earth to crack a bit, and the dust to rise into the air. It was then that Azure decided to take the initiative and attack. He twirled his blade around his waist as he dashed toward the first of the Soldiers. He slashed at his torso tearing into its flesh and spinning to his left, ripping the blade out as a crimson mist left his opponent's body. As he turned toward the other two, he felt a shift in the air above. Once he looked up, he noticed that the second sword's man was in a fast descent, and it seemed that he would impale him with his massive blade. Just before impact, however, Azure's body faded into the wind, only to reappear near the tree line. He hid in the darkness of the trees' shadows as he studies his enemy. However, before he could launch a second assult, he found himself bombarded by arrowfire.

Utilizing his Shadow skill to the fullest, he sunk into the darkness, and re-emerged on the opposite bank of the treeline. It seemed that while the three swordsmen drew his attention, the four Archers were acquiring their target, biding their time until they found the opportune moment to strike. These battle tactics were all too familiar to him. They were not any of those used by the Larovians, not by any of the clans as of late. These were tactics based off of his own battle experience. The travels of he and his bretheren. How could they have come into possession of such tactics if he had never faced such an enemy in the past? This was a mystery that demanded an answer. As he comtemplated his next move, a familiar presence teased his senses.~

~Silently from his position, Kuroha watched the movements of the Soldies. He was not particularly interested in the Swordsmen, but more so the Archers that happened to be hidden along the treeline. He noted how they attacked only when Azure was not occupied with the Swordsmen. Judging by the direction of their attack it could be determined that they were hidden above. He wasted no time in climbing into the branches above. It was then that he found his target. Wasting no time, he leapt toward one of the archers, and drove his blade deep into its spinal cord. The Archer let out an earshattering screech as its body grew limp. Once Kuroha withdrew his blade, the body of the archer fell from its position and landed in the road below. He then looked down at his brother smirking a bit, and proceeding to hunt down the others which were most likely mobile at this point.~

~As Metairie walked into the Elders' chamber, she could overheard a bit of their conversation. They seemed paniced about something, and she was certain it had something to do with the man she had just encountered. After a while the Elders signalled her in, and she kneeled before them in the center of the chamber.~

Report.

The mission has been accomlished. The Seven maidens were not harmed, and they were sent toward Celeste as ordered.

Where is Kamille?

She is not feeling well after the mission. I allowed her to rest.

This insubordination is becoming a nuissance Metairie. You have no right to excuse her from this meeting.

I have just as much of a right as you. Have you forgotten that it was me who raised her after our parents were killed. The lsat time I checked, it was this very organization who massacred her village. If that information were to be leaked...Who knows what kind of trouble she'd cause.

That is enough out of you. Know your place.

So we all realize the severity of her situation. Good.

You have earned a day to rest Matsunaga. You are dismissed.

~When the body of one of the archers fell from the treetops, Azure could only smile in relief. With Kuroha eliminating the Archers above, the tide of the battle shifted a little more in their favor. Drawing his second blade, Dark Sentinel, Azure took up a fighting stance with ht e right blade held in an underhand position and the left held normally. Running through the trees, Azure sprung his attack one more. The remaining two swordsmen did not seem fazed at all by their comrade's downfall. They concentrated their efforts on Azure, who was now sprinting toward the two of them.

Upon reaching the first of them, he was met by the large blade being thrust at his torso. Obvioysly he intended to impale him with the massive blade of his sword. Azure, as nimble as he is cunning, his body faded into thin air, only to reappear falling from above and landing on the large blade with amazing balance. He needed only three steps before he reached the swordsman, and made an upward slash at its head, splitting it in two. He then leapt from the sword as the corpse fell to the ground, and landed behind the last of the swordsmen. As he went to make his attack, the swordsman suddenly screamed out in anger.

Its skin seemed to harden almost as if it were made completely of stone, as its red eyes found themselves fixed on Azure. Almost shocked by this feat. Azure backed into a defensive stance. The last swordsman, now enraged with the deaths of his comrades lauched an assault that was completely different from the last. He swung his blade at Azure with a massize velocity. Azure barely had time to react, he ducked under the blade but was met by the swordsman's foot, as he kept with his psin and raised it into Azure's chest. Azure, to his misbelief was sent plummetting into one of the trees, crashing into its trunk and causing it to fall from its place where it had been rooted. The bodies of the remaining archers fell to the ground one after the other, and once the final one hit the ground, Azure had stood back up, gathering his bearings as he twirled his blade a bit before lauchung his next assult.

His eyes had begun to glow a jade green once he sunk into his stance. The swordsman's strength and spped had been dramitcally enhanced by his rage. But there was a single flaw in this technique...his movements were far too predictable to launch a successful attack. The swordsman began his charge once again, this time swinging the blade at Azure's waist, which was in turn avoided by Azure leaping over the blade in an aerial manuever that landed him on the side of the swordsman. In the slit second that he had earned, he swung his left blade at the Swordsman's waist, which indeed met its mark however, the blade skidded across his skin as iff it were stone. Sparks of black flames leaping from the metal as it made contact with his skin. The Swordsman then countered the attack with an attempt to crush Azure beneath his blade, which in turn made contact witn nothing but the earth beneath the two of them.

Azure had reappeared several feet away from the swordsman analyzing his next move. His blade had no effect on him in this state. This was a probelm for him, but he was all to familiar with the technique that had been used against him. The thought did not sit well with him. His third blade, which was in its sheath at his waist, was one that should not be used freely, but it seemed that his current situation he had no choice. As he sheath his blades, Kamakaze and Dark Sentinel, Kuroha had made his way to his position hastily, knowing all too well what he was planning.~

What are you doing, Azure? You know well what will happen should you wield that blade.

I'm not planning to use it...not like this.

What?

Are you done with those archers?

Yes. They're all dead.

Good. I think its time I introduced him to my fire, yes?

Ah. I see. In that case, I think I'll try my hand while there's still something left of him. twisted

~With that, Kuroha drew his own blade, Arbiter and sunk into his own stance, with the blade gripped in a reverse grip. As he stared at the swordsman, the cries of the dead could be heard as the souls of the archers and the fallen swordsmen left their bodies, and became one with Kuroha's blade. It was then that the Swordsman had begun to walk toward the two of them. His strength far beyond his body's limitations, his mind was being affected by the technique he used agains them. As he his grip on his blade tightened, the air in the forst was suddenly growing cold. Without any further comment, Kuroha srung into action.~
PostPosted: Thu Sep 07, 2006 1:45 pm

~The Swordsman wasted no time in swinging his blade at Kuroha, when he neared his position. Kuroha's blade, something of a customized Zanbatou, held enough weight to deflect the massive blade of the swordsman. Once the two blades made contact, Kuroha pushed away and moved in to strike. He performed a spinning horizontal shash at his waist, which in turn met with the same result as Azure, with a minor different. Kuroha's attack had severed several chunks of stone from the swordsman's body. It had appeared that he was not completely invincible. This became more apparent as he examined the swordsman carefully. He made another swing at him, again sending fragements of stone into the darness of the forest, but this time casuing the swordsman to stumble backward a bit. The trees surrounding them had begun to freeze over with black ice as Azure prepared his attack. With a massive force, Kuroha drove his blade deep into the stone flesh of the swordsman, the length of his blade impaled in his abdomen.

As Kuroha stepped back from the monstrous warrior, he found himself lifted into the air by his throat. Even though he was impaled by Kuroha's blade, this did not stop the swordsman's assult. He was so fargone in his rage that he did not feel pain it seemed. Even in all this, Kuroha could only smile at the giant that threatened him. A single stilleto knife slid into his hand and he wasted no time in hurling it into the eye of his enemy, which as expected forced him to release his grasp on Kuroha as he screamed out in pain. Once he landed, Kuroha backflipped away from him, and held his hand out in front of him. He then unleashed an attack that had not been seen in over six millenia. One that only he was capable of. Using the souls of the fallen, he had developed an attack that was nearly inavoidable, and almost always resulted in a greusome death. He called it Wraithverge.

As the swordsman struggle to pull the knife from his eye, the sould that had been captive within Kuroha's blade suddenly errupted, the blood of the swordsman identifying itself at their target. They flew around him, passin g through its body and taking a bit of his inner flesh with them as they exitted though the other side. The agony of this was most likely unbearable as the souls tore him aprt from the inside. It was then that Kuroha looked back at Azure. Black flames now trailed his hands as he made a few motions with his arms to chanel his aura into an attack. Once his hands met he thrusted them to the front, his thumbs and pointers conneted with one aonther. It was then that the flames that burned on his hands surged out toward the swordsman, engulfing him in what seemed to e a spiral of blac flame...a spiral of cold fire. It did not take long before the screams of the swords man were silenced, as his blood could be seen solidifying as if it were ice.

Once Azure closed his fists, the flames dies out, and all that was left of the swordsman was a statue of black ice. Azure then slowly raised his fists, above his head, his eyes closed and his hands still clamped together. Once they streched to their full length, Azure snatched his hands downward, casuing a bolt of black lightning to break through the umbrellaof the treetops and strike the statue og the gigantic swordsman, shatterrign it completely. It was the that Azure let out a deep breath and opened his eyes, his pupils retuning to normal as Kuroha retrieved his blade, which was somehow spared from the attack.~

It has been a while since I've seen you do that.

Where had been no need for it until now. Which is more than I can say for you.

I was short a few souls. I decided to collect. Nothing more. If you don't mind my asking, what has brought you out here? I thought you were attneding the meeting with the council.

I was. We've received news of a potential threat. A group calling themselves Infinitus. Supposedly, they're heading toward Celeste, if they aren't already there. But that isn't the worst part of it. It is rumored that they are led by a Ryera.

You jest!

SHoudl I take offense to that comment?

If we destroyed Luin, who could lead them? Surely not that fool of a brother.

Well if he survived the encounter, he would have had plenty of time to perfect his sorcery. I don't have time to fill you in on all of the details, but you can probably piece them together yourself just by this experience.

I had been meaning to ask you about that. Those warriors were undoubtedly Yakayu, but whats worse...they were Terranian. Do you suppose the others....

It seems that way. But until we are sure, we shall not think about that. I want you to go back to Enathtai and gather information with Nahota. Surely someone knows something of the happennings of late.

I was planning on doign just that. By the way, our assassin problem has been dealt with. I'm sure they will tear themselves apart before they realize who has betrayed them. They are not longer a threat.

Still, I want them watched. If their assassin can find their way into our stronghold, I am curious as to what else they are capable of. I shall meet up with you once we have gathered enough reconaissance. Until then, keep me posted on your findings..

I shall.

~With that, the two of them go their separate ways, Azure continuing on toward Celeste, while Kuroha heads back in the opposite direction. With both of them set on a particular goal, they knew that the upcoming events would either make or break their destinies.~

Not long ago Issildia had departed from the outskirts of Gertea, deciding against using the shape-shifting abilities granted by her Avariera blood. Instead she simply used the gateways born of the Veil to easily cross into Natori.
The Veil was a realm that few knew of, for it was a barrier that separated the realms of Life and Death...upholding the balance of the Cycle and of nature, the very realm that had nearly been destroyed all that time ago when Issildia had been far younger.
The veil had been created by a race know as the Avariera many millennia ago, to uphold the failing boundaries between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead. But in bringing about the birth of the Veil, a realm composed of both the forces of life and death...the Avariera sacrificed their entire civilization to accomplish their will and bring about the Veil's existence.
Issildia was now the first and only Avariera to walk this earth in centuries, and had been granted the duty of overseeing the well being of the Veil since that fateful day when she had been granted a second chance at life. Using a network of gateways threaded throughout the realm that is the Veil, she could travel to nearly any destination at a moment's notice. Though she rarely used this method to travel for she still prefered to have many believe she was still the same half-blood she had been all that time ago. Her reasons for this deception were still uncertain to many.

There was a brief flicker of sapphire hued light, outlining a portal within the a cool forest clearing within Natori. The air within the clearing hissed with energy and briefly glimmered with white sparks as a form stepped from the near invisible portal outlined in subtle blue flames.

Issildia's vision immediately slipped into a different spectrum as the dark of night closed in around her after emerging into the clearing. Not unlike the infrared eyesight granted to the celtarie, Issildia was able to see perfectly fine in the dark, though she was not bound to a spectrum of red hues as the celtarie were.

As she swept the area for intruders or potential threats her thoughts mulled over the information Jadea had supplied. Supposedly there were rumors of a powerful necromancer within the Natori region but Issildia suspected that Jadea had been purposely supplied with this information.
But it mattered not, she would continue to play the part of prey...for now. When the opportunity presented itself, she would discover the truth behind this Infinitus group and their leader.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 11, 2006 2:20 pm

Finally reaching a clearing within the Forest of Natori's sourthern expanse, Azure cought glimpse of a surge of energy that he was most familiar with. A dimension vortex was opened and as usual, he felt the need to investigate. He felt slightly relieved as a familiar figure stepped out of the vortex. At the time it seemed as if she had not noticed him, but her senses would soon pic up his aura, as he approached. Once her movements stopped, he took the time to addres her and inform her of the current situation. If all that he had just experienced were any hint of what will come to pass, then he knew that this group was far more dangerous than one of his companions could imagine.

"I was wondering when you would finally show up." He stated mildly. "It is not often you chose to utilize the Veil as a means of transportation...you must have been just as busy as I, yes?"
