Anyone have experience with restoring old cars? I want to find an old SS el camino, but i have no experience in working on cars at all. Just wonder if I could teach myself as I go along without wasting tons of money

Go for it! but find a friend who can either guide you, or help you, or motivate you or.... no, wait.... find FOUR friends: one to guide you, another one to help you, another one to motivate you and a fourth one just in case! *thumb up* blaugh

I myself am apprentice mechanic and I work on cars everyday and I must say its enjoyable. Be careful if you go out and buy an old car make sure its legit and not a clone. Also make sure its in condition like little rust and make sure there are no fillers in the body if you can try to get full history on the vehicle.

Go for it dude. I remeber when my Uncle restored a Pontiac '68 GTO. It looks great. I say ggo for it because you never know what'll happen. They said that GTO wouldn't run anymore but he drives it everyday. lol Good luck.
