Note: Copied and pasted from another file.
Okay, late night boredom inspires some odd things. Here is a perfect example:
A friend and I have made a reasonable guess towards the exact start of the After Colony calendar. I admit, a bit of it is based on conjecture, but then again, so is the same idea with the UC. Here goes...
Fact: Relena's birthday is April 7. Fact: Her birthday party was held two days after she met Heero. Conjecture: Since the sun was setting when she found Heero, April 7 was almost over. Therefore, the day they really met was April 8, placing her birthday party at April 10. Conjecture: Her birthday party was most likely held on a Saturday, so as not to interefere with school or church. Conclusion: AC 195 is a year in which April 10 falls on a Saturday.
This is where my friend's incredible math brain comes in. Through a process I myself could never hope to understand or mimic, he managed to come up with some data.
-Every six years, the dates repeat. -This is complicated by the fact that every 36 years, you have 9 leap years, not 8. -Every 36 years, the dates shift by three days. -It would take 7 sets of 36 years for April 10 to happen on the same day - or 252 years. -April 10 falls on a Saturday in 2010. -Therefore, the next time April 10 will be a Saturday is 2262 - or AC 195. -Subtract 195 years, and you get 2067.
Therefore, AC 001 is 2067 (or 2068, if inclusive).
Additional important information (novel quote): The leader of the circus, Hawthorne, is proud of the nearly 600 years of history - the founding year was 1667 - but right now he is about to lose patience. It's about the boy he hired just three weeks ago.
If the circus has been around for nearly 600 years, and was founded in 1667, then AC 195 can be no later than 2266 - which fits rather nicely with the supposition that AC 195 is 2262 AD.

Excellent math skills! Anyway, if it is 2262, ever wonder why Hilde still uses a floppy disk to smuggle info off of Libra? Or why thecars are outdated by 21st century standards? The Napoleonic fashion sense? I believe GW is more of a fantasy mix of time periods which combines World War 2, 19th century, the future and 1995. I mean just lookat the school uniforms. Most animes love schoolgirls in mini-skirts but all GW uniforms have long matronly looks. Just think about it...

As for the technology, most Gundam series tend to reflect the period in which they were made. Obvious examples of this include the Federation uniforms in the original series, which have an almost bellbottom look to them, and Seed's heavy use of Operating Systems as a plot element. Other than colonies, MS, and related technologies, the Gundam worlds tend to be pretty similar to ours, though I'd assume they managed to perfect electric cars by that point, since driving a gas-guzzler inside a colony is a dumb idea.

I thinkl of 195 differently. we are already in AC 005 technically because we already have a perminant crew in space living on the space station. so I am thinking from 2000 is would be 000 because we didn't have a perminant crew there til 2001 and space fortress Barge is what out current space station is. you see, technically when you think avbout it Collonizeation has already begun and by 2010 we could have a real collony on the moon.

Makes a good bit of sense, though what Gundamgirl said could also be somewhat accurate. Though really, I doubt that Gundam timelines have any specific AD counterparts, like Une said, being made primarily to reflect on the current time period and the fashions and such of it, while inserting various elements from other time periods. Though yeah... the floppy is kinda weird.

Anyway, maybe it was an advanced cartridge info storage thingy like the UMD's they use for the Playstation Portable... Btw, can anyone explain the olden aristocratic clothes. If that's the future of fashion, whew....

They say the fashion world runs in cycles. I think so too: I have mutton chop sideburns the likes of which men from the 1880s would envy. Who's to say that Western European aristocratic style is never coming back? wink
As for the date, I find it to be perfectly reasonable.

Capes NEED to come back into fashion, and in the next ten years or so, so I can have one while I'm still relatively young.

I think Noin had one too at one point. Problem is, how're you going to keep people from stepping on it... I recall Edna Mode from The Incredibles had a lot to say about capes and superheroes but who says they can't be in the military. It adds flair, doesn't it?

Hilde's disc was a UMD. Because in the future, Sony will rule over all forms of higher technology, including MS and space station production. As a side note, yes, the Libra can use it's cannon as a projector to watch movies and play video games on.
