Yes. That's right, one of your moderators and a huuuuuuuge fan of Green Day is BACK from his leave. My computer has been a b***h. But IT IS NOT ANYMORE!!!! HAHAHAHAH!!! That and my band has been doing really well and been doing a lot of gigs and shtuff. So yeah. I'm back!!
Now, let's make a topic so I'm not a complete poser...
What song/s of Green Day was the first you ever heard that got you hooked? Which one/s did you have to listen to a couple times before liking it?

I am so ashamed to say this, but... AI and BoBD. I heard those songs, asked my friend to get me AI for my birthday, and then I looked up their songs and their biographies...

Purple Desolation I am so ashamed to say this, but... AI and BoBD. I heard those songs, asked my friend to get me AI for my birthday, and then I looked up their songs and their biographies...
Please don't hate me for this! gonk I heard their music when I was in third grade and I didn't know it was Green Day. I just knew I really really liked it, and I got into them. I listened to them for three years, not knowing who they were (cause my brother just burned stuff for me) and when American Idiot came out, I researched the band that played it and found out they were the ones that did Minority. I'm not obsessed with AI though, in fact, my parents just recently caved in and got if for me. I had all the other CDs before AI and I'm not obsessed with it at all..... xp don't hate me either ninja

Minority. Then I bought Warning, and my friend burned Dookie for me whereupon I heard Welcome to Paradise and Longview. I proceded to fall in love with the sound of bass, so I got one. So yeah, Mike is partially responsible for and good-sounding bass stuff that comes out of me. I take full credit for all the bad s**t xp
I actually had to listen to Holiday a few times before it grew on me. Same with All the Time 3nodding

mmm first songs :
FIRST ONE EVER - Basket Case (1999)
then ... Longview , Minority and Warning
i had to listen Blood Sex and Booze ,Hitchin' a ride and also Brain Stew ( jaded wasn't that difficult...)
but .....thinking about that, all of them i love them too much!

The first song I heard by them was When I Come Around, and omfg. I HATED that song. But now, it's one of my favourites. gonk
Yeah...I listened to them on and off, and...was obsessed with them after American Idiot came out.. sweatdrop
I heard When I Come Around, but didn't know it was them, and haven't listened to them for...so many years...O.o...I hated Good Riddance too. surprised But yet, it's on my list of favourites now. When their best albums came out, I was obsessed with the Backstreet Boys! gonk And I heard all this madness about BoBD, and when I heard it, my reaction was,"Who the heck is this? O.o" And thought it sounded..pretty bad..xP But now, the album American Idiot isn't too bad. biggrin I still want Nimrod though.. stare
I liked them for a while back in the Dookie days, then my obsession went down...stupid Backstreet Boys..but back on when American Idiot came up. I'm still trying to catch up on their olders songs though. xP

Yay!! I was really tempted to make a topic asking where you were, but then I kept thinking that you'd appear and go "WTF?? Yellie why'd you make about me?? I was hear the whole time!" and then people would laugh at me... sweatdrop
ANYWHOOPS.
"Longview" got me hooked. I think i was about... eight or nine when I heard it and I didn't get a lot of it but I loved it. I got hooked on Green Day then and there. Then I fell out of my obsession and got into... Erm.. blink 182...
After Warning came out I got back into them and now I love them again.
Ooh, long(view) eh?
And the song I had to listen to for a while...

For the disscussion: Probably Minority. I just adore that little acoustic guitar bit at the beggening, and I always thought the song itself was really catchy.

The first songs I heard, but never realized it was Green Day until last year, was When I Come Around and Good Riddance. I grew up hearing them on the radio and enjoyed them. What technically got me into Green Day though, I am ashamed to say, was AI/BoBD. I liked the sound, did some research, and decided to get some Cds, thus me loving the band.
I had to listen to Brain Stew, Homecoming (now an absolute favorite), and Wake Me Up When September Ends a few times before I actually liked them.

Mine would be Time Of Your Life & Basket Case. I heard of them when it was '97 cause I remember watching something and then they had that song and then my sister kept singing it so yeah!

The whole Dookie Cd. Didn't know what the songs were at the time, but I liked them.
Songs I had to listen to many times to like them: Dry Ice, I Wanna be Alone, Best Thing in Town, Letterbomb, Homecoming, that's all I can think of now.
