I was surprised and shocked at the movies this past weekend. There was a preview for a movie called The Omen. For those who may not have heard about it, it is a movie made about the coming of the Anti-Christ and end times. It is part of a trilogy, of which I have only seen the first original movie, at the behest of a friend.
I am somebody who does enjoy a scary movie from time to time. But I only try and watch those works of fiction. These movie's serve to scare me to a deeper level because the future is written in Revelation and Spiritual Warfare can become a very real thing if we allow it to. If we give the Devil room, he will take it for all it's worth.
If I were to post this somewhere else, there are probably some already, I fear what I might find discussed.
I really am concerned about how aspects of the Devil have become okay in society. It's scary, it can make money because people enjoy being scared. It's an evil creation, as evil as can become, the perfect antagonist/protaganist.
I fear for and pity those who will see this movie and think nothing of it, or think everything of it and nothing else. In this opening part of the trilogy, God is not shown as the victor. He is seemingly absent from the film.
I realize this is a heavy topic to start a discussion, but it is one that is not often thought of or discussed unless it is Halloween when these movies of horror and images of the devil are most prominent.

Iam rarely affected by scarey movies due to my sincere belief that Me, God and my 1897 Winnchester can take on anything, but I know that many people watch horror films to show how tough they are or for the nudity that is involved in almost every single one of the films.
I also believe that Satan can use almost anything to his advantage in his war on humanity... after all he walks this earth freely. So I think that many peoples views are swayed to the negative everyday thank to modern media.
People take movies way to seriously... Hence one of the reasons for my prefrence of cartoons. It is easier to distance myself

Much is wrong with "the world", for Satan is in charge of it. This is how it has been since before history was recorded. That is why Christ calls us not to become part of the world in it, so that we can show others the way out. The only difference now is the technology and ideals of today's society.
I don't think that all scary movies should avoided, but I do recognize that there are some movies just should not be seen(rob zombie films for example). As a Christian well made movies involving satan have made the most impact on me, because satan is more real than vampires or things that go bump in the night. This whole subject is a little depressing to me as well, but the the world will continue its sinful pleasures as it all was has been and the best we can do is not participate and continue praying for guidance. Another thing to consider is that more Christian films are coming out too, the media is just reaching out to every audience to see where they can get money.

Sam Neil dies in the third one, staring at a huge Jesus in the sky.
Or something.
Sam Neil is awesome.
