I was just re-reading volume seven where Saitou pays a visit to the dojo and he and Kenshin fight. Saitou called Kenshin a hypocrite for not killing his enemies and said that it was Kenshin's fault each time the person he was protecting was kidnapped, such as the incidents with Jinei and Kanryuu and that it Kenshin "let" Raijuta injure Yutaro.
I don't see how Kenshin can actually be blamed for any of those. True perhaps he should've sensed that Jinei was right in the area when he grabbed Kaoru, but Kaoru put herself in danger by coming there in the first place.
In the Kanryuu incident, Megumi voluntarily returned herself to Kanryuu's mansion and Kenshin went there to get her.
And with Raijuta, how the hell was Kenshin supposed to know what would happen to Yutaro since he'd never gone up against the Izuna before? He's not a psychic after all.

Ah, that poor Saitou, probably doesn't know too much about hypocrisy, then. Oddly, I've never noticed any of that, but I haven't read the manga either... For some strange reason, I can't remember if Saitou fought Kenshin in the Dojo, or not. It's been such a long time since I finished watching the anime, how very depressing, I guess it's time to watch all of it over again.

They fought inside the dojo when Saitou came there to "evaluate" Kenshin's strength for the mission to Kyoto.

I agree. All of these incidents were outside Kenshins control.

have you ever thought that Saito might have been trying to provoke Battousai, not Kenshin? you know, trying to get him angry enough to turn into Battousai?

I think he was trying to say Kenshin had made himself so weak that he couldn't properly protect those close to him by his refusal to kill. Because Saitou thinks being peaceful is bad. cry He thinks they will die because Kenshin refused to kill those endangering them...But we still love him anyways. xd

TheIllustriousBlueJay have you ever thought that Saito might have been trying to provoke Battousai, not Kenshin? you know, trying to get him angry enough to turn into Battousai? SPOILER ALERT!In Trust and Betrayal Kenshin and Saito have a duel that has no conclusive outcome. For one Saito wants to finish this duel. Secondly Saito is a cop for the Army and was sent to gague Kenshin's ability, which was lacking from when Saito and Kenshin dueled the first time in Trust and Betrayal. Saito was undoutedly trying to anger Kenshin for both his own personal goal of beating the Patriots best Assassin, and for the army to see if Kenshin was worthy to take on the mission to kill Shishio. Saito proves that he is willing to anger people for his own intertainment whenever he bullies Sano.

Kenshin has great fighting abilities, but is only at his 'finest' so to speak, when he reverts back to being a battosai - he's a wanderer that has taken an oath not to kill any more because he wants to redeem his past actions.

Yeah, I definantly think it was just Saitou trying to provoke Kenshin. It's probably a hobby of his actually.

I agree it's not really Kenshin's fault she died as she did throw herself in front of his blade. However, she probably couldn't see any other way to save him. She had to put herself between Kenshin and Tatsumi or Tatsumi would have killed Kenshin with Gofu Baku. It kinda seemed to me like Tomoe had death wish.

XD IDK if Tatsumi would have killed Kenshin though. Kenshin's attack cut through both him and Tomoe. I think it was misjudgement on her part.
