Check out this article, it's great. And true. I also reccomend you download the entire report, it gives a lot more information on the BS 'facts' that have been drilled into peoples' heads like '400,000 people die of obesity every year' and 'being thin = being healthy'. -_-

i only skimmed through the article but i have to say that i skim through alot of articles on both sides and both exaggerate the other and make themselves look good.
but it is true a majority of these myths are false. if 65% is overweight and obease then how come i rarely see them on the streets? ...um rehtorical question but still you get what im saying hopefully.... sweatdrop
i like the cartoons they had with it anyways. 3nodding

Skimming doesn't tell you s**t. When you skim, you're just going to get wrong information because you didn't actually read the article. And misinformation will just ******** up everything.

I'm in a bad mood. Sorry.

np with the bad mood thing. happens to all of us.
i was skimming cause the article was too long for me to read at the moment cause i have other things i need to do but i was just saying the last post for the sake of saing it...i have a habit of doing that sweatdrop

You better get into a good mood... or I'll eat you. surprised

I hate how they lie to everyone. Even if being obese isn't exactly the best thing, it's not a HORRIBLE thing like they make it seem. It can be a lot more fun to be fat if they'd stop being assholes and making everyone perceive fat as a bad thing. ><

I couldn't read past the first paragraph. I was laughing too hard at this:

'Overblown rhetoric about the "obesity epidemic" has itself reached epidemic proportions.'

I'm sure it's right, but come on...you can't say that an epidemic has reached epidemic proportions. That's like saying 'The blue sky's blue.'

Mimisi just found it was funny, and therefore assumed the rest of the article was full of more stupid. 3nodding lol^.^

O_o

Dude, calm down. What happened that you are son angry these last days? I was going to talk to you this easter, but I got scared you would tear me a new one...

And yes, the obesity miths are full of sh*t. They say 400,000 a year are dying of obesity... and I didnt see anyone dying of it, but only the "usual" deaths: car aciddents, murderings, diseases(not related to obesity) and just a few cases of obesity-related diseases. I heard they just get everyone that died, dosent matter how, if he was overweight, goes into their research. Simply dumb.

I hate how they say that so many people die just from being obese. That's complete bullshit. If they die, it's from a problem caused from being obese... and it doesn't even happen to every fat person. They act as though fat cells are going to kill them. rolleyes

OMG NOES. THE PUDGEY CELLS R GONNA EAT ME. ;-;

Oh, and I hate how they think fat people have high cholesterol, an unhealthy heart, and all this other crap that is just as likely to occur within a seemingly "healthy" person. ._.

Overeating of certain unhealty foods not only lead to obesity, but can also lead to clogged arteries and such. Thus, while not all obese people have heart problems/high cholesterol, there is a larger percentage of obese people who have these problems than "healthy" people.

I'm saying that I hate how they make it seem like only fat people have those problems. It's too stereotypical of them to do that.

True. There is a woman that worked for us once, but she had to stop for healthy problems. She's skinny, but she has cholesterol and diabets just like my grandma, that is overweight.

It's not saying that the epidemic reached epic proportions, but that the rhetoric has. The obesity epidemic is just the subject of said rhetoric.
