Rap, when alot of people think of rap, they think of sexist, hateful, ignorent music, like G-Unit, Mike Jones, and Lil Jon, but rap and hip hop is some of the smartest music their is, and many of the artists are christian. for instance, jay-z was talking in an interview, and some of the words that he said, i didn't know what they meant. now i'm only just out of jr. high, but i've been taking pre-ap courses and used to go to a school that taught sat vocabulary in just 5th grade, and i was like, what does that word mean. then i realized it was because he knew alot of vocabulary, because he has to write alot, and have long verses, and he has to make it ryme, so vocab is a big part of his life. now for rap artists that are christian, that includes xzibit, mase, puff daddy, kanye west, twista, dmx, ti, will smith, jadakiss, public enemy and alot more. not all of them talk about god in their songs, but you will see them wearing a cross necklace or you might read the credits on the back of the cd booklet, and it will say thank you god usually first thing. now songs that talk about god are Angel (DMX F/Regina Bell), Prayin for Help (T.I.) and of course Jesus Walks by Kanye West. post your christian rap songs here, say the artist title and cd, and why you like them

on an interlude on the cd big boi presents got purp volume 2, bentley fonzworth says this verse:
1 Corinthians 13
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
which i thought was kind of cool, its a great verse

I've gone to some underground rap shows and I'll tell you, these guys are smart. The average person has 20,000 words in their wocabulary. These guys must have 25,000. I'm not a huge fan of rap and hip hop, but I can definitely respect it for the artform that it is.

Radical Green Crayon I've gone to some underground rap shows and I'll tell you, these guys are smart. The average person has 20,000 words in their wocabulary. These guys must have 25,000. I'm not a huge fan of rap and hip hop, but I can definitely respect it for the artform that it is. i don't like music if the artist doesn't work for it, i like rock and bands that actually play their instrument, but i don't respect people who don't make their music (like madonna or britney spears) that can't play instruments, but with rap, the lyrics are just so magnificent and smart, it blows me away, and rappers work just as hard on their lyrics as any drummer or guitarist works on playing that, their words are like an instrument in of itself, and they go alot faster and alot longer than rock songs, so their cramming in like 4 or 5 times as many words as the average rap songs, and when rappers make it good and meaningful, that deserves respect

DC Talk has some rap songs, although it isn't as fast as some "modern" rappers (modern being that they cuss a lot and things like that).
The song Jesus Freak, is my favorite one of these.

Jesus Freak is an AMAZING song. It's basically what defined DC Talk's career. I also like the rest of DC Talk's songs, though I haven't heard all of them. They sounds so good together, and have amazing voices...especially Kevin Max. Wow. And their rap is so good. 3nodding
