Oh noes... Well, do you think this is a good idea or not? Most books made into movies can never surpass the awesomeness of the actual book. xd
And for fun, what color do you think the next dragon will be? whee

I don't think that an Eragon movie would be a bad idea per se. If made well it could make for an entertaining story for people to watch who have never seen the book. And in a best case scenario it can bring people close to the book. Just because the common preference is that books are better than movies doesn't mean that it's the case all the time. My best friend hates the Harry Potter books but loves the movies. She feel closer to the characters by watching them. The act of reading kept her at a distance. So, in short, don't be too discouraged by the movie. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

I didn't like the book, and I think a movie would be an okay idea after what they've done with the Lord of the Rings and all.

Hmm, I think Eragon has too much magic and whatnot to be a good movie, there will be too much computer generated effects in my opinion

I think a movie is a good idea. No matter how it turns out, it's always fun to see how they interpret the book.
As for the color of the next book, it will either be gold or black or the unknown color of the last dragon egg.

But then you get movies like Spiderman and this new Superman movie, and they look less realistic than Shrek. I'm always wary now ...

Some people may not agree, but think that Christopher Paolini plagarized off several things to write Eragon and Eldest.
They should make one of his sources, Anne McCaffery's "The Dragonriders of Pern" or Ursula LeGuin's "The Wizard of Earthsea" into a movie as they are much much better than Paolini's work. His other main source, namely Star Wars, of course is a movie.

I think that was the first thing I noticed...in fact, if you look up Eragon on Wikipedia, it has a section about that. The movie isn't even out yet and I already have a complaint: Arya's hair is the wrong color. And I think the next dragon will be black or green. (random choices)

I hope it'll be good. I think the books are okay... But I seriously adore the actor who will be playing Brom: Jeremy Irons. The guy who plays the evil king is pretty awesome too.

They better do a good job, otherwise many people will be dissapointed. But in my opinion, the book is always, always better than the movie. I can't think of one case where it's been otherwise.
Anyways, I think/hope the next dragon is silver. Then we will have a very patriotic author on our hands. XD
I think I heard somewhere it will be green, though. The basic dragon color.

fire_mistress_fuega I think a movie is a good idea. No matter how it turns out, it's always fun to see how they interpret the book. That's a really good philosophy. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Eragon series. I couldn't even force myself to finish the first book (though that'll change this fall, when I borrow my friend's copy. He wrote his complaints and ideas all over the margins, and I really want to see that. =P) However, I reserve hope that this movie will do a better job at holding my attention than the book did. I mean, I have to hope that, as I'm certain Dan will drag me to go see the movie no matter what I think about the series.
