"Knowledge is not what is memorised, but what benefits." - Ash-Shaafi'ee, rahimahu Allah.

A woman can lead other women in prayer. She may also make the iqamah or athan (calling to prayer) if "no non-mahram men can identify her voice."

When a woman leads prayer between other women, she does not stand in front of them, as the men do when they pray; she stands in the middle of the row with her 'peers' (xD).

However...

This immensely stupid trend created by dorky Muslims in North America, where women lead prayers with men participating is a fitna. The prayer is nullified even before it began. These hundreds of people have performed invalid prayer. Beware of it, and please don't try to ever participate in any of it. I've even hard, that it was a mixed prayer and that some women went so far as to pray without their hijabs.

Nevin Reda is from the Nation of Islam. This woman carries that false belief which contradicts Islam completely, since Allah did no such thing (see red quote below); and if intended on doing so, don't you think that it would have been mentioned in the Qur'an?

She advocates fitna which has been created by the NOI. Beware.

NOI is not Islamic at all, since one of the things that they believe in is:

"...one God (Allah) and that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master W.Fard Muhammad, July, 1930; the long awaited 'Messiah' of the Christians and the 'Mahdi' of the Muslims..."

More NOI BS:
Quote:
Besides the above two differences, the followers of the Nation of Islam also believe in other things contrary to Islam as defined in the Qur'an and Sunnah, such as:

[We, the Black Muslims, believe] "in the truth of the Bible, but we believe that it has been tampered with and must be reinterpreted so that mankind will not be snared by the falsehoods that have been added to it".
The problem with this belief: The true Prophet of Islam ordered Muslims to neither accept the Bible nor reject it - certainly there was no mention of reinterpretation.

"That we who declare ourselves to be righteous Muslims, should not participate in wars which take the lives of humans. We do not believe this nation should force us to take part in such wars, for we have nothing to gain from it unless America agrees to give us the necessary territory wherein we may have something to fight for".
The problem with this belief: The Qur'an and Sunnah are crystal clear on the necessity of going to war when the situation demands it.

Seriously!

Women are behind men in the prayer because women are so fabulously voluptuous and beautiful that they distract the men, so therefore we must be behind them.

I'm so sick of all this "equal rights in Islam" crap. I mean, some things are just freakin' understood, and the point of Islam is that it is the only religion that doesn't change to fit modern times.

Islam already gave me my equal rights. I don't need some government to "grant" them to me beyond Islam. And besides, I don't want a bunch of men staring at my a** when I bend over to pray. D: And not only would it be difficult for the men to concentrate, if I was leading prayer I wouldn't concentrate either, because I'd be wondering what everyone was thinking everytime I bent over.

Obviously, there is a practical reason for everything in Islam. The innovation of women praying in front of men is supported by some groups here, such as Muslim Wake Up! Because they feel the need to equate Islam with "modernist" thought. But it doesn't make sense. Women praying behind men is, just as hijab, to guard our modesty. But it does also hold us in esteem, giving women responsibility because we have more self-control. I don't need to pray next to men or in front of men to make me feel equal in Islam.

Well, duh. That's why women pray behind men. How stupid can they get?

*Agrees with you all* 3nodding

I heard that this woman who led the prayer received a bunch of death threats. She had to change the date and location a few times to avoid prepared assault... That's what I don't like. When some muslims know what is right, but don't understand what is right.

Besides, we shouldn't make such a big deal out of this. This woman is pulling a big-time publicity stunt stare . The more we pay attention to her, the more powerful this whole prayer event gets. To combat it, we just don't turn our heads and move on like nothing happened.

Exactly, we should just acknowledge it as wrong and move on with issues that are more important.

But you're wrong. We DO know. You know the the surah Ikhlas? It says "NOTHING is like Him." None of creation is like Allah. Allah doesn't have gender.

God doesn't have a gendor. This is how polytheistic worship started when al was good montheistic people, until man started thinking like this than a whole new word of "gods" were born. Think if you want like this but, this is exactly what satan wants, its even in the quran "and if an evil whisper come to you from satan, than seek refuge in Allah.Verily he is all hearer, all knower."7:200

As mentioned earlier, Allah does not have a gender. Then you might wonder why people refer to Allah as 'Him'. Well, it is because in the arabic language nouns are either feminine or masculine. Like kitab (book). It is a masculine noun, but a book is not really a boy! There is no neutral gender to express this that Allah has no gender in arabic, so Allah is a masculine noun according to the rules of grammar.
