I think they are animals; actually, in my personal definition, I think all living things are animals. There aren't too many bugs I don't like, except for slugs... oh, they're gross, they bother me.
Also, as much as I respect living things (I tend to catch the bugs that wander inside the store or my house and let them go outside), I always say if it touches me, and I kill it, then it shouldn't have touched me. My reaction to a strange tingly feeling from an unknown source can get quite violent. =P

As far as biological classification goes, bugs are a specific order (Hemiptera) in the class Insecta, which is one of many classes in the kingdom Animalia. The kingdom Animalia encompasses all animals, so yes, bugs are animals.
As a side note, all bugs are insects but not all insects are bugs. The term "bug" refers to insects with thickened forewings (many insects have 2 pairs of wings - front/fore and back/hind) and sucking mouthparts (as opposed to jaws). Some examples of true bugs include stink bugs, water bugs, milkweed bugs, and cucumber bugs.
This is probably much more technical than you wanted, but I can't help it. Sometimes the biologist in me just can't be controlled.

I'm sure they're animals, because they are classified as organisms. But remember, spiders are not INSECTS. They're something I really don't wanna talk about.. they scare me.. alot!!
