Story: A small group of pilots, outraged at the Empire and its atrocities, have decided to take matters into their own hands. They took their skills as pilots and decided to fly against the Empire, and that is where we begin.
Okay, now you know the storyline. This is the new flight squadron rp. As Emerald Squadron, you will be telling the story of the rags-to-riches of the pilots, and their rivalry against "Ruby Squadron". This RP starts off before Battle of Yavin, in the grassroots of the Rebellion. As pilots, you will have to first go through training, and eventually go through and will end sometime after Battle of Endor... or so. If you need a reference to go by, think of this as the RP of Nintendo's Rogue Squadron games.
This RP, in order to ease things, will take the place in an alternate universe. Rogue Squadron does not exist. However, some things will remain that are vital. Some characters and famous people will not be present most of the time, to help glorify your actions instead.

Bio (Send to Nelowulf, not GAT):
Name: Age: Homeworld: Callsign: (assigned later, dependent on activity and skill) Ship preference: (your fave SW ship. Best one you'll fly*) Appearance: (like avi doesn't count) History:
Also, we will include another part to the bio. In the past, you didn't have to worry, but now you do. It's skill points. Though this won't play too much of a role, it will show what you're good or bad at. Some people are better gunners, other people flyers, others are good at boming... you get the pic. Please, some variety though. It gets kinda boring if everyone is a dogfighter. If that becomes the case, I'll start making missions that require other skills.
Stats:
Atmospheric Maneuvering Spacial Maneuvering Evasive Control Laser Efficiency Ballistic Efficiency Dogfighting Targeting Droid Efficiency
Atmospheric Maneuvering: How good you fly when you're planetside.
Spacial Maneuvering: How good you fly when you're up in space.
Evasive Control: How good you control your craft when evading. Overtakes A/S maneuvering when under fire.
Laser Efficiency: Higher it is, less shots you take at enemy.
Ballistic Efficiency: Higher it is, less missles you need to take out enemy.
Dogfighting: Duh. How well you dogfight.
Targeting: Double Duh. How well you use a targeting computer.
Droid Efficency: How good your droid is at repairing your ship... when applicable.
You get 60 points to distribute. The most points a category can contain is 10. (start with 5 for every stat, that leaves you 20 you can add to the rest)
This will help place you amongst your fellow teammates at the runs, and may decide who leads the attack in some cases. If you are confused, go to the Imperial Personel thread and read the bios posted.
*Note: Due to my constant recieving of fave ships such as "N-1 Naboo starfighter", "Fanblade fighter", "Modified Vulture Droid", "Jedi Interceptor" and the like, I will reiterate.
Favorite ship means which one you will fly best. To help you with your decision making, please select from this list, so I can quit getting fancy ships. It isn't a personal ship. Its a preferred ship. It will ultimately decide what you will fly later on for the REBEL ALLIANCE. Guess what? The rebels don't have N-1's or Jedi interceptors. This is a rebel fighter squadron. Not a mixture from past, present, or future factions.
Pick from:
A-wing B-wing X-wing Y-wing V-Wing Airspeeder

Maneuvers-
Immelman: The aircraft pulls up, in a half loop. When at top of loop, the aircraft flips over, and is now 180 degrees away from where it started, at a higher altitude.
Loop-the-loop: The aircraft pulls up, going in a loop until it reaches point of origin.
Split-S: Starting at a high altitude, the aircraft rolls over, cockpit towards the ground. Then, the aircraft pulls the nose towards the ground, making a half-loop. This drops altitude greatly, but turns aircraft around. Opposite of Immelman.
Roll: the aircraft rotates on the z-axis. it spins around its own center.
Hammerhead stall: When going forward, the throttle is pushed all the way forward. A sharp climb and cut throttle stops the aircraft. The rudder is applied, making the airplane, which is vertical, drop to one side and begin to nosedive. A combination of rolling and pulling out of the nosedive makes this a complex maneuver to target, but a simple maneuver to execute.
Knife Edge: The aircraft rolls 90 degrees, wings perpendicular to the ground. the rudder tips the nose up, as throttle is applied.
Cobra Strike: The aircraft flies at full speed, quickly chased by an opponent. Quickly, airbrakes are deployed, and nose pulled fully up, creating massive drag on the aircraft, letting the opponent blast by. The aircraft now is behind the opponent, right in striking zone.
Wedge's Folly: While attacking an opponent, the aircraft flies directly at his opponenet, firing at the last moment to blow through the wreckage. (not a move done in real life)
Rolling Thunder: Not a dogfighting maneuver, but a bombing technique. While flying at full throttle, the leader of the group releases all bombs on a target, creating a line of explosions. Subsequent wingmen repeat, changing to various targets in nearby vicinites. This tactic is usually deployed on runways and lines of aircraft, as well as AA guns.
Death Roll: A combat trick much easier than it sounds, one simply rolls the aircraft, firing weapons at oncoming opponents. Though a simple maneuver, one can quickly find that his aircraft is not only dodging the opponent's shots, but rolling into them as well.
Lingo-
Phonetic alphabet (for all you non-military brats)
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, Xray, Yankee, Zulu
Null, One, Deuce, Trio, Quad, Five, Hexa, Seven, Eight, Niner
"Bearing"- Reading on a compass. North is 0, East is 90, etc. In space, it is more common to use "clock bearing" instead, using positions on a clock to describe direction, and "high", "low", or "even" to describe altitude. "Bogey"- enemy. "Over"- Understood last message, waiting for more messages. "Out"- Understood last message, NOT waiting for more messages. "Copy"- Last message understood. "Over and out"- Lyke, OMG! Me a stoopid noob, twying 2 lewk kewl!!1!!1!. "CAP"- Combat Air Patrol. Flying a perimeter of airspace for defensive recon, ready to repel any intruders. "ETA" - Estimated Time of Arrival. "AWOL" - Away Without Ordered Leave. "FUBAR" - F***** Up Beyond All Recognition. "SNAFU" - Sure 'Nuff, All F***** Up.
Determining Effectiveness:
To win a dogfight, compare skills in this order: Dogfighting, Evasive Skill, Targeting, Laser effeciency, Ballistic Efficency.
To Maneuver around obstacles: Spacial and/or atmospheric manevuering, Evasiveness
Accuracy: Targeting, Laser/Ballistic effeciency, Dogfighting, A/S maneuvering.
to be continued... any help given will be appreciated...

Prologue: Tatooine Training
The beginning of Emerald Squadron begins with a rough start, as few actually realize that the best have to earn that right, rather than be given it. And so we begin, in the sands of a barren desert, where our heroes first gathered to fly...
*********************************************************
The binary suns of Tatooine were rising, a ghostly, eerie double dawn, slowly lighting the dunes of Tatooine. Not a sound was heard, no sand storms, no Raiders, no Jawa sandcrawlers, except for the roar of Incom's T-16 Skyhoppers.
Newly founded, the Rebellion's Emerald Squadron screamed through the dunes of the West Dune Sea. Twelve pilots, all in modified T-16 Skyhoppers, not even granted the standard T-32 trainer.
As the skyhoppers rolled, shot, and dived, the dual-dawn rose to a dual day, and the Training had begun.

"YAHOO!!!!!" Kefka screamed excitedly, as he dialed the throttle in his battered T-16 Skyhopper.
He was flying with three others, all whom he had never met before. Less than a week ago, Colonel Jan Dodonna moved Kefka to the newly founded Emerald Squadron, and Kefka was more or less sure he was the only pilot that had served the newly formed Rebel Alliance before.
Relaxing his grip on the flight yoke, he ran a hand through his smooth silver hair. He was faced with mixed emotions, while he felt excited to meet his new brothers-in-arms, he was dissapointed in leaving Teal Squadron, where he had served over a year and a half.
Dialing up the throttle again, Kefka curled his left forefinger around the button he had dubbed "Z", and rolled the craft around its z-axis.
Once he had leveled out, he pulled the craft into an upward thrust, to gain some altitude. The craft's minimal targeting screen showed eleven other yellow blips, marked as neutral craft since they had not fired a shot against him.
Kefka flipped a switch as he dialed the throttle down, and leveled out into a slow cruise.

"haha!" Jarik called out as he kicked in his afterburners. the aircraft strained from the sudden acceleration."yeah baby, work those legs!" he shouted to the aircraft. he rocked the stick to the side and the ship spiraled to the right, barrel rolling as it sped ahead. the ship groaned in protest and he leveled it out. "well, at least she can fly" he grinned. "not as good as my old headhunter but she'll do."

Kefka suddenly got commed, and he looked out the viewport to see another pilot flying very close to him.
Grinning, he thumbed the comm.
"We still speaking Basic here, buddy? My names Kefka by the way, from Chandrilla."
He let go of the comm, waiting for an answer.
((You're Jarik not Cale lol))

((its okay I type Phoenix way too often. i just catch myself before i post it))
Glad to have met his first comrade, and possibly friend, Kefka punched back.
"Bothan? I'm not named in Bothan. My uncle, who was a father figure to me, was named Ken. A Camaasi that became my mother's best friend, and died to save her life was named Taref La'ka. I'm named for them both.."
Kefka decided to try out a move he;d always wanted to. Both he and Jarik were were flying at the same speed, and they were parallel, with Jarik to his left. Grinning the whole time, he suddenly cut his throttle, dropping his altitude by a meter and leaving the skyhopper in a sudden hang. Quickly, he jammed the yoke rightward and slipped under Jarik's craft, and dialed the throttle back to Jarik's speed, while simutaneously pulling the hopper up back to parallel Jarik.
With a big smile on his face, Kefka let go of the yoke, and tapped the side viewport, only to recieve a bewildered stare from the other end.
Looking down at the HUD, Kefka realized that it had taken him less than five standard seconds to pull of his manuever, which would have upped the stakes had he been in a true battle.

"what the...ok flyboy, that was slick I'll grant you that. but anything you can do, I can do better!" Jarik grit his teath and tried to mimic the maneuver. he'd be damned if a Chandrilan was gonna outfly a Corellian. he cut his throttle, dropping his altitude then quickly painted the the engines of Kef's ship with a salvo of harmless wargame lasers and slid under kef's skyhopper. with no small skill he matched up to Kefs speed then rolled his craft to the right. Finally he pulled the nose up to bring it level with Kef. "Now thats how its done Flyboy. slick maneuver, but nothing I couldn't pull in my sleep." Jarik grinned confidently.

"You wish."
Kefka barrelrolled the hopper on its z axis and turnewd it upside down. Then, he boosted the throttle and pulled up, coming up in a half loop. Now WAY above Jarik, he dialed down the throttle to match Jarik's velocity, and then curled his right forefinger to the "cycle" button, changing his weapon to a harmless training bomb. Leveling out over Jarik, he slammed down on both triggers, dropping the bombs evenly and watching them splatter over Jarik's hopper.
"I call that, the Meteor Storm!"

"you might be able to pull that move in the Hopper, but try that in a Y-wing and you'll get your pilot's seat shot out from under you." Cale slowed the aircraft and tillted the nose up, getting a clear shot at Kef's underbelly. he took the shot, arcing the mock lasers so Kef would fly into them. he accelerated and increased his altittude, taking a few potshots at his comrade's engines again.
