Drip. Drip. Drip.

The morning dew dribbled from a leaf and right onto Mapenzi's dark muzzle. Her nose twitched, and twitched again, ending in a ticklish sneeze. Well, that was it now - she was awake and wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. She wriggled her nose again and scowled at the leaf, thinking maybe her look would kill it.

Heaving herself from her temporary 'nest' of soft leaves, she stretched slowly and meticulously. All the climbing and the damp atmosphere made her body ache more than an afternoon of hunting. Ah, hunting. Food. On cue, Mapenzi felt the tug of hunger in her gut and slowly padded back towards the river's edge, in order to keep track of herself and maybe catch a few small morsels along the way.

Just as she was in earshot of the river, some rodents scurried about in the undergrowth. She lowered herself and started to creep softly. But she caught a small rock, alerting the rodent. The chase began. Just as her jaws were ready to wrap around the juicy looking rodent...BANG!

Mapenzi fell backwards in a small stumble after she'd hit the tree. She rubbed at her skull with a paw and seriously hoped that no one had seen that.

Koda peeked from behind a nearby tree, somewhat gigglish after seeing that bright blue female just headbutt right into the tree like that. Putting a paw over his mouth to hide the laughter, he held in his breath and strolled into the open, almost like nothing had ever happened. Shaking his mane, the male sat down, watching Mapenzi closely. ... you okay there, pretty? What a nice way to start off conversation with someone he'd never met before. He knew he was about to get a beating.

He smelled the air throughly and then got back up, looking at the tasty stream of water to his side. Padding over, he leaned down and lapped up a few morsels, enjoying every moment of its cold liquidy goodness. As he turned around, he kept his eye on the female and bounced back to where he'd originally sat down. He too had an itch for food. Of course, that was because he'd been wandering for days, ever since he met up with another Mistweaver; Ithibati. Just thinking about her made him angry. Rolling his eyes, he spat at the ground and awaited the response of the blue one.

Mapenzi almost didn't notice the male, her eyes winced and her nose all crinkled up. The sudden intrusion of his voice startled her, and she flung her paw to the ground, her eyes wide in surprise. A quick blush swept across her cheeks, but it disappeared quickly as she tried to look as though nothing was wrong.

"Of course I'm okay. Do you really think a lioness this perfect would have any problems?" she smiled, turning on the charm. She cast her vibrant eyes directly at him for a few moments.

She didn't quite care for his habit of spitting, but she wasn't about to complain. He had his freedoms just as she did. She too took a few sips from the river, gracefully dipping her head and swaying her tail.

Koda grinned and bounded over to Mapenzi, by the river. So, whats a pretty girl like you doing around these parts? After quirking a brow, he raised his paw, almost like a shaking motion. I appologize. I rarely see anyone these days. My name is Koda, and well... i'm a rouge whos been just simply chilling out in this pretty land. I love the water. A lot better than the Motoujamii, thats for certian. After introducing himself, he sat down and flicking his tail about. Almost amusing himself really. He batted the grass and continously attempted on hitting the flies around him. He really disliked them flies.

Mapenzi smiled and looked at him from the corners of her eyes as she lifted her head from the water. She licked her lips slowly and with great relish. He did have a point - whilst these lands were so unfamiliar to the lioness, and a far cry from the dry arid plains, it was a peaceful and serene place.

"Pleasure to meet you Koda. My name's Mapenzi, but you can call me Mapa for short," she said sweetly.

Despite her muscles screaming at her again, she didn't want to sit down just yet. She needed to warm up her legs, keep them moving and ready. Besides, it gave her more options when she was in a flirting mood.

"I be a rogue too, travelled here with a friend and now I'm just trundling around, exploring the place," she smiled at him. She swayed her tail slowly.

... ... its astonishing, isn't it? Koda peered to the water once again, admiring its beauty. Mapenzi -- such a beautiful name. He continued to listen to her words, nodding slightly. Ah, you came with a friend? ... ... I came from the Graveyard. No one joined me, though. I've never truely had any friends. I either scare people away, or they just don't like me.

Before she could think of a coy answer to Koda's flattery, his comment of the graveyard surprised. She hadn't really pegged this lion as a graveyard lion, although it might explain the spitting. Spending all day in a morbid grey place with hyenas for company? No wonder he wanted to leave!

"Now I find that hard to believe," she smirked. "You're not scary in the slightest and seem very likable to me."

Of course, she didn't want to mention the spitting at this point.

Why thank you, Mapenzi. Yeah, a lot of people mistake me from being from other places, like the Pridelands and such. The male rolled his eyes and smiled. He looked around, but returned his view to the female. He always was attracted to females too much, it seemed -- and this wasn't any different. Unfortunatly, the cold shoulder became more common to him recently.

Mapa's muscles finally gave in and she flopped to the ground, rolling over onto her back in a playful mood, wriggling around to scratch an itch on her back.

"So how have you ended up in a rather fanciful place like this after a graveyard? Chasing a girl perhaps? Or a dream?" she asked a little further, not afraid to be so blunt.

"Ah, at first I was chasing a girl, but she doesn't like me anymore." He nodded, and looked at Mapenzi. "I also really liked this place a lot, since its a lot more lush than the graveyard would ever become." He grinned, as he also laid back down. All that standing was making him go crazy!

((Certainly Thal :3 ))

"Rejection can be really bitter," she commented idly, more from the experience of the males she'd left in her wake than herself.

Mapa had fashioned a lifestyle for herself, where she could live comfortably in the deception of males. She wouldn't try her charms on this male though, he had already been burned by love and was less likely to fall for it.

"Yeah, it is quite nice here. I can blend in that bit better compared to the savannah."

The mistweaver lands had been tense recently. The rains hadn't come for nearly a year now, as a result the prey was growing scarce, the water thin, the fish were fewer in number, and the land was growing partched. Though the trees were still mostly green, the grass had become as golden as that of the open plains. The local pride was growing thinner and thinner, desperate for food and prey. Their 'prince' had grown frusterated and desperate, praying nearly hourly for redemption... there had been a great crime committed in the eyes of the stormking. The mistweavers blamed those who had come into their boarders without concent. So many now... invading to make the valley their breeding grounds with little concern for those that already dwelt there, creating more hungry mouths to feed, meaning more hunts... less prey. The animals that remained were those that could survive in such conditions. Elephants that could reach the higher branches, a few smaller creatures that could live off of bugs and roots, and very very few antelope and zebra remained in small herds.

The cheetah was among those asked to patrol. Not a local, not even a part of the pride, but an ally no less. The son of the anansi king and queen, a clever creature that had found it in his own best interest as well as that of the local pride to help with the effort.

He listened as the two conversed, sparing no effort to hide or make himself known. He simply listened. "A striking place indeed..." Taban said smoothly, making himself known from where he lay stretched out on a large boulder nearby. "For those that are welcome." He looked over casually, "Have you lost your way? Perhaps I can be of some assistance. It's far too often these days that travelers loose their way and wind up here. Most unfortunate."

The brown male smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, its beautiful. Although, I blend in nice in a lot of places. I feel like I stand out here with all this water, and green." He chuckled a bit, until he heard a rustling behing them.

Koda quirked a brow, and shook his head no, as the other creature approached them. "I haven't lost my way at all, young cheetah. I've been here for months now."
