It isn't very often that I find a band made of almost nothing but emotion and power in their music. When I do find such a band, I know that it's a keeper.
Such a band is THE BACK HORN: A four-man group formed in 1998 in Tokyo. Using each of the band member's abilities and talents to their full potential, THE BACK HORN's music is anything but ordinary. Shifting from upbeat traditional melodies to dark, emotional power tracks with amazing composition to boast in every song, there's something to like about this band.
In my opinion, what makes this band so amazing is frontman and vocalist Yamada Masashi. His vocal style is different from any other vocalist that I have heard, and he delivers so much emotion and power that the listener can't help but feel some sort of affect. Passionate doesn't even begin to describe Masashi's voice.
Also worth praise is bassist Okamine Koushuu. Just listening to the basslines this guy plays hurts my head. My ears can't keep up with it. Very passionate about his playing and writing, Koushuu has graduated his way to my favorite bassist... ever. Koushuu's basslines, made of pure skill and intensity, are pretty much the backbones of every song.
All in all, this band has such a perfect blend of poppy, upbeat music and emotional, impactful compositions that there's something for everyone.
