Here I will post a "Topic of the Week" and anyone will be allowed to post their views on the topic, as long as they are supported by at least one point. Please do not criticize others for their beliefs, but instead have an intellectual debate! Just basically post what you think of the topic and why you think that. You may quote other's speeches, but please only do so for a specific part. We don't want you to quote a whole speech.
Yes we do... ninja

Although one may easily say that it depends on the cause of death, you are ultimately choosing between having worms gauge your eyes out and your skin decomposing, or being turned into ashes to be kept in a can. I believe that if you have a true love of the ocean for example, you may want to be cremated, as to have your ashes scattered into the tumbling waves.
Traditionally, one is buried in a coffin and placed underground in a cemetary. I do think that this is to honor an individual, as many can attend a funeral, and visit one's tombstone. Had famous individuals or family been cremated, we would most likely not be able to locate their bodies, or give our respect to them. On a final note, depending upon your religious beliefs, one may want their body to remain in whole.

Mm. Aa. You have a good point there, but on the other hand, with cremation, it may be better for the deceased. Think about it. Some people don't want their bodies to be under the ground for many years to come. There are bugs there and other types of bacteria and factors that can wear down the body.
Also, if the deceased was murdered, it might be better for the body to be set on fire. this is because sometimes their bodies can be so mangled, no one may even notice that they belong to a body.
Also, some bodies start to decompose in the ground and would stink if put into a coffin and buried underground. And if the body was found in the water swelled up? The body wold have to dry out at sometime and if it dries out while in the coffin, water could leak into the ground and bacteria would grow, causing the body to decompose at a faster rate.
When cremated, the person's ashes can be put into a jar or container of some sort. This allows the family to have their loved ones close to them. This also holds true for famous people. If they have been cremated, their ashes could still be considered the body of that person. You would know who that person was by DNA samples.
Another thing with the famous people is that some have been cremated and their ashes scattered in various places. Some were placed in jars, others scattered amoung the fish in the ocean and last but not least, up in the stars.
But, it does also depend on who that perosn was. For example, if the person wanted to be cremated, they should be and if they wanted to be buried, they should be buried.
Ya know?

You do have many good points there, but I would like to offer insight on various points posted, as in a rebuttle. For the point listed above, I would like to say that a family can choose to have a "closed casket" viewing, so that the body is not seen. Most of the time, the body will decompose into a skelteon while underground anyway, and the blood,etc. is cleaned up before hand. So it really doesn't matter on the condition of the body. However, I could see if there were no remains left of the body, as some murder victims are found years later as skeletons, or a single body part. Wow. Why? Why? Why? Why is the world round o great one?

While this is true as well, such things are taken care of before the actual burial. So it really wouldn't matter, as no good funeral service would allow an inidividual to be buried in a coffin while swollen up. Plus, it really wouldn't matter if the body stunk or decomposed faster, as it would be underground anyway. Come on! Tell me. Oh wow. Bye Dessie!!

Well there are bugs, bacteria, and fungus up here while they are living as well. Plus, why should one really care what happens to their body once they are dead? But yes, some do prefer to be cremated, opposed to being buried and vice-versa. Dude. You could have just made these posts into one big post. ninja What the ninja said!!

.: biggrin akishimetaino ni ::. Wow. I forgot about this guild, and that I was a mod.
Wheee~ ::dances: heart
But onto the topic-Neither for me. I'd rather be buried in a mosaleum. A word which I'm not quite sure how to spell. xD But serously now, I don't want to be cremated, because I've lived in florida enough to know I hate the heat, living or no. Also, I don't want to be buried, because what if I suddenly develop narcolepsy, or was it catalypsy, and get buried alive. Inside a mosaleum, I'm closer to the oxygen.
Yay logic!
xD
