Review One: High School Musical
Script: 5/10 - It was okay. Not good. Okay. Ish.
Music: 1/10 - I may have liked it a teensy-weensy bit more if they hadn't dared to call it a "musical." "Status Quo" was a bit showtune-ish, but still. No. They hsould have called it High School Pop Concert. Oh, and the "because I liked the view" song SUCKED. So did "Breaking Free." And so did "Get Your Head in the Game." And the theater people songs could have been good if not for the fact that they did not have theater-quality voices! Ashley Tisdale's nasaly voice could NEVER carry a stage production, and neither could Gabrielle's whispery whine.
Acting: 3/10 - Okay, so that Gabrielle girl can generate some fake tears and Ashley Tisdale can pretend to be a theater wanna-be. But... no.
Plot: 4/10 - I have a major problem with this: it's not the "theater people" who are the elite of a school normally, so why do they pretend they are? Also, jocks, nerds, and theater geeks will never bridge the differences between them. They WILL NOT. It's a fact of life.
Overall: 3.5/10 - It was okay, but I don't get what the big deal is. Nothing to shriek about. Just your average crappy Disney movie.

Review Two: The Side Show Original Broadway Cast Recording
Summary: (From Collection of Musicals Lyrics and Libretti) The show tells the based-on-truth story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, identical twins joined at the hip, who performed in show business in the early years of the 20th century. [Daisy] loves the limelight; [Violet] longs for the simpler life. How they work out their conflict and find love is the story of Side Show.
Script/Lyrics: 8/10 - There are cheesy lines here and there, but it gets the message across :3
Music: 9/10 - I love the music! Best songs: Who Will Love Me As I Am?; I'm Daisy, I'm Violet; I Will Never Leave You; Like Everyone Else; Come Look At the Freaks; The Devil You Know. The background of the songs is full of percussion and trumpets, etc., and adds power.
Voices: 9.5/10 - Pretty much everyone's voice is amazing! The twins' voices work well together, and since they're almost always singing duets, the harmony is very powerful. Jake has an amazing voice, as well, and really carries The Devil You Know. Violet has an especially nice voice, as it is both pretty and powerful. Her high notes are close to Idina Menzel caliber (Idina is known for being amazing at belting high notes), and her voice can have either a beautiful quality or a sharp but powerful quality. Daisy's voice is rather annoying, though, especially when she's speaking. However, it doesn't ruin it, and it's very enjoyable to listen to them sing.
Plot: 8/10 - Interesting plot, and although it verges on Mary-Sue-ism, it's a true story, so the too-good-to-be-true aspect kinda goes away. It's the only musical I've ever heard that's about conjoined twins, so that really makes it unique.
Overall: 9/10 - It has its flaws, but it's definitely worth buying the CD if you're a theater person. I don't know if it's readily availiable everywhere, and it's not on iTunes, but it's worth it if you find it. I don't know where I got it, because it was in my mom's musical theater CD collection : P

Ah, my friend like High School Musical. I, however, have never seen it since I'm pretty much isolated from the TV, but I wanted to see it for the pure reason of people breaking into song in the hallways. But now I don't really think I will.

They don't really break into song in the hallways that much
And the songs aren't even musical-type songs
They're bubblegum pop drivel that someone vomited up one day

And I thought maybe it would redeem itself towards the end
