...where would you wish to dwell? Rivendell? Gondor? Perhaps Mordor or the Shire? Be specific! Don't just say Rohan! Perhaps you'd like to live in Edoras, or Aldburg, or a small village in the Eastemnet. Maybe even a lesser known country, like Harad.
Or, perhaps you would have liked to live in the times when Beleriand or Númenor still existed. Would you have dwelled in Doriath, safe behind the Girdle of Melian, or maybe in Rómenna, the royal haven of Númenor?
There's a multitude of realms, countries and cities in Tolkien's world to make a home. Where's your haven at?

Since there was no way in Mordor I was going to ruin the flow of the intro post of this thread, I shall post my "dream home" now. ^_^
I, personally, would have liked to live in Minis Tirith in Gondor during the reign of King Elessar or even Eldarion's reign. If not there, probably somewhere in the Westemnet or Eastemnet in Rohan, because I love horses. Or, maybe Lindon, since it was probably rich with the various cultures of the Elves that dwelt there after Beleriand was destroyed.
So, anyone else?

Oooo! Oooo! Pick me! ^_^ Uhh, I'd probably want to live in the Shire, in the days before the War of the Ring. Ignorance is bliss. ^_^ And I'd get to hang out with Frodo before he gets all angsty and depressed. Not that the angst is bad. ^_^ Or if not there, then probably in Rivendell. I'd get to hang out with Bilbo, chat with Elves, wear fancy clothes, and enjoy the prettyful architecture. ^_^ Yes, my reasons for wanting to live in Middle-Earth are sooooo deep. xd

I'd build a nice little cottage at the foot of Mount Doom. I'd never have to worry about freezing in the winter, and I'm sure all the local residents and the boiling lava are actually quite lovely once you get used to them. ^^
>_< Seriously, I have no clue. There are too many fun places to explore. I'd probably just spend my time wandering the world and taking in all I could.

Okay, this is going to sound so original but I would like to live in a medium half-way between Rohan and Rivendell. I love the celtic aspects of Rohanian(lol) culture, and even though this is a literate fangirl guild the way they built it in the movie was very close to what I had in mind, so was Rivendell. I love the architecture of Rivendell, the clothes, the lore, the elves calmness . I could sit in Elrond's library and read for hours. I already read at least two hours a day. I couldn't live without books. The way they described Rivendell in the books was beautiful. I could definately find myself comfortable there. And for purely selfish reasons it is also the home of Elladan and Elrohir. My favorite Tolkien Creations.

Hmm, it's so hard to think of just one place when there's so much to see...
I'd probably pick Rivendell to live in, for the same reasons everyone else has. Although Numenor at its peak might be nice to visit, and I hear Valinor's got good weather pretty much all the time mrgreen
As a side note, did anyone else ever wonder what Minas Morgul looks like inside? That deathly green glow is so inviting...

I think I would like to live in Lothlorien because I love the forest and the fact that time doesn't seem to pass there. I could chat with Galadriel and sing with the elves, what a wonderful life. whee

Well...hard question...
I would live in...Rivendell!!! Like Sam said in the books, that place has a bit of every place of Middle-earth; Of the Rohirrim plains, of Gondor and Minas Tirith, Of Lothlorien and it's golden trees...of Lindon and it's rich elven culture...of Ithilien, and it's sweet fragrance and wilderness...Of the Shire, and it's rolling hills and sweet grass...Of Mirkwood, and it's hidden paths... Really, that place is just the best place to be in Middel-earth. Besides...Arwen *drools*, Elrond *bows*, Elladan and Elrohir *hand shakes both* live there...so...it would be a dream come true

Personally, I would love living within Lothlorien. Keeping sentry. I would not really like to have a house at all, perhaps a nice flet on the verymost outskirts of Cerin Amroth. Just a simple life, for me. xd It would sooo beat homework. Accually, it was a hard toss up between someplace in Rohan near Fangorn Forest, or in Mirkwood. And, naturally, Minas Tirith. Tol Eressea sounds cool, but a little over-peaceful for me.

I'm in a bit of a toss up here.
I've always said Imladris, and I'll stick to that. As Nolah said, the library alone would be enough to keep me occupied for hours on end. I'd probably have a lot of nights where I'd end up falling asleep in there. And then Elrohir would come carry me to bed and tuck me in...heh..anyways. I'd also all but live in the hall of fire. Though I'd be too shy to share any of my own songs, poems, or stories (especcially if I was a human amongst Elves), I'd be more than happy to listen to others. It'd be a great opportunity to learn their language too. 3nodding Everything, absolutley everything, about Rivendell appeals to me.
HOWEVER, I'd also love to live in Gondolin, or, to be more specific, to be a guardian of one of the seven gates. Tolkien's descriptions of them in Unfinished Tales had me completley awestruck. I'd spend all my days claiming I had to go on errands to other guardians, and passing through all seven gates every day. Just because. I'm easily amused like that. I'd probably want to work at the fifth gate, the gate of silver.

Nolah Lithwen, its like we're one person. I just finished that part of Unfinished Tales...and Lithwen dear, need I remind you that I own Elrohir? Oops, I meant too add a "(sorry Nolah)" after that line. But it's not my fault if you can't keep those who you claim under control. wink Anyways, what's wrong with him tucking me in? I mean, you didn't think I was implying anything, did you? *whistles innocently* Although I'd probably get kicked out of Imladris fairly quickly. "Hey Elrond, you met Maedhros! What was he like? You don't happen to own anything he ever touched, do you?" And the questions would go on...and on... In which case, I'd move to Gondolin (...continuity error anyone? sweatdrop ).

I believe you were implying a lot actually lol. And I do keep him under control thank you. He was only being polite 3nodding I'm sure if you were polite and sweet when you asked Elrond wouldn't kick you out at all. And i'm sure there would be lots in the library for you read about him.

I would have loved to live in Gondolin because Tolkien said it's beauty rivalled the settlements on Valinor.
Or maybe I should just live in Valinor. heh

Númenór in the times of Tar-Aldarion, just because I have a Númenór-fetish. Or Gondolin. Those have always been my two favorite places in Arda.
I've been settling into college over the course of the past few days, so that's why my appearances have beens sparce if not non-existant. I see the slash thread lives on...
