NOTE: This is not an magic RP
Araluen
Araluen is the area that the Rangers are based at. Araluen was founded by King Herbert, divided into fifty fiefdoms (like a state) and each was given their own ranger to protect and defend their fief. To the north of Araluen is Picta, land of the scotti and to the south is Celtica and mountains of Rain and Night. These mountains are where Morgarath is hiding out at, protected by almost impenetrable cliffs, with only one real area that he could launch an attack from. The main fiefdom?s are, Araluen, Caraway, Redmont and Gorlan.

The Rangers
The Rangers were founded over one hundred and fifty years ago, in King Herbert?s reign. King Herbert was sometimes known as the father of Modern Araluen. He created the union between the fifty fiefs that?s still our structure today. At the time, King Herbert felt that to remain safe, the Kingdom needed an effective intelligence force. That?s why he founded the Ranger Corps, to keep the Kingdom informed. To act as the eyes and ears of the Kingdom. To do that patrol the Kingdom- and beyond. We listen. We observe. We report back. The Ranger Corps was established at fifty. One for each of the fifty fiefdoms. In addition to providing intelligence about potential enemies, Rangers are the law keepers, we enforce the law. If a crime has been committed, we look for evidence. Ranger?s are particularly suited to that role since people often don?t realise we?re around. We investigate to see who?s responsible. Sometimes we report back to the baron of the fief and he?ll have the person arrested and charged. Sometimes, if it?s a matter of urgency, we just?deal with it. Then in times of war, we act as special troops- guiding the armies, scouting before them, going behind enemy lines to cause the enemy grief and so on. What sort of enemies, well there are the people like the Skandian sea raiders- or Morgarath and his wargs.

Profiles
Rangers
Ice wizard
Name: Kain
Age: 30
Appearance: Kain is small for his age but is one of the most gifted rangers in the corps. He wears the multi-coloured claok that all rangers wear and was pale blue eyes which is about all you can see of him while he wears the cloak.
Talents: Agile, stealthy and good knowledge of kingdom.
Personality: Kain is friendly even though he can sometimes be hard. He knows what is out in the world and feels that he needs to teach his apprentices all that he can before he lets them pass.
Senior

Pheonix Stormclaw
Name: Keegan
Age: 17
Appearance:
Keegan
Talents: Speechcraft, lock-picking, agile, fast-learner.
Personality: Reserved, Keegan stays on the outside of conversations, observing as much as possible for later use. His guile skills are mediocre at best, so he tends to rely on his talent with words to get him out of risky situations.
Apprentice

Name: Tarrant
Age: 17
Appearance: Tarrant
Note: The only noticeable physical difference between Keegan and Tarrant is that Tarrant has blue eyes-Keegan has brown.
Talents: Mercantile, picking pockets, agile, fast-learner.
Personality: Even more reserved than his brother Keegan, Tarrant generally doesn't talk at all if the conversation isn't about bartering goods or travel directions. Where Keegan is more of a linguist, Tarrant is more of a spatial, creative thinker. His guile skills are more advanced than his brother's, and together they make an efficent team. Keegan and Tarrant have their own little language as twins generally do, and this language involves unique but subtle hand signals.
Apprentice

Xela Tkeyah
Name: Thais (means the bond. How cool?)
Age: 29
Appearance: Is not seen in public without her rangers cloak hiding her features, it is said that this woman is of extraordinary beauty, though there is no evidence to substantiate this fact.
Talents: Agile, stealthy, excellent aim, excellent rider.
Personality: Quiet and sincere, but forces her apprentices to work extremely hard. Loyal and compassionate. Kind.
Senior ranger

Name: Aquilla (Quills) Sternleaf
Age: 18
Appearance: Long brown hair tied into a ponytail, thin and wiry figure, pale skin.
Talents: Extremely agile and stealthy, uses a bow with incredible skill.
Personality: Does not often talk, except to his friend Curtis. His nickname was gained when he fell from a tree, sustaining injuries only from a patch of thistles he fell on.
Apprentice

Knights
Xela Tkeyah
Name: Griffith
Age: 34
Appearance: ((Will do la'er))
Talents: Strong, agile, has an extraordinary talent for melee combat.
Personality: Stern and strict, however a big softie at heart. ((I'd rather expand on the personality during the RP))
Senior Knight

Name: Uriel
Age: 29 years old
Appearance: Uriel Doesn't like photo's so we haven't had any of him for ten years blaugh
Talents: He is most proficient with the double sword and sword each acting like an extention of his body.
Personality: Mysterious and shy although he is loyal.
Senior Knight

Aquilla Operandi
Name: Curtis Orliamandra
Age: 17
Appearance: Curtis is an attractive young boy with brown hair and forest green eyes. His mother was a beautiful woman, and obviously it runs in the family. He smiles often, as he is generally a happy person. He is well built and works out in his spare time.
Talents: Curtis does not have many talents, but he is rather good with a sword and has been flirting with the idea of an off hand throwing net.
Personality: Curtis is generally rather happy, and he is constantly looking for an opportunity to shine.
Apprentice

Ice wizard
Name: Steel
Age: 15
Appearance: Steel is smaller than most in his age but he is quite strong, even if not as strong as most. What he lacks in strenght he makes up with strategy and speed. He has blonde hair and pale green eyes.
Talents: strong, smart and apparently a born natural.
Personality: Is friendly and doesnt like to show off, thinks it just shows stupidity.

((OK Phoenix I think your characters can be seperated, make it a bit better, different styles etc. ))
Kain stared at the apprentices gathered. He shuffled his cloak around a bit to try and hide his small size. Tooking over to Thais he smiled. They had already choosen who they would pick, something that had taken quiet a while. He would have Keegan and Aquilla while Thais would have the other twin Tarrant.

Thais smiled back at Kain, although she knew he would see nothing. She had been quietly observing the boy Tarrant for some time now, and knew that he would make an excellent apprentice for one such as herself.

Griffith looked at the two boys he and Uriel had chosen, and nodded to himself. They would make then work hard, that's for sure. However, talent was obvious in both of them, and they would make excellent knights one day. Griffith smiled at Uriel and winked before looking directly at Thais. The older knight knew of Uriel's... discomfort around the ranger, and loved to tease him.

Keegan stood silently, his eagerness to begin training eating away at his insides. His body appeared relaxed, but his mind was paralysed out of the fear that he may slip up moments before he is chosen. Although he appeared still, his right hand was rapidly moving, communicating with Tarrant.

Tarrant smiled in the direction of his brother. Do not fear, brother. We will be chosen, and hopefully by the same Senior Ranger. It would be excellent to train under the same master, so I could prove that I am better than you. Tarrant's fingers took on a tone of playfulness.

Heh. Says you, Tarrant. You may be able to buy more goods and produce than I can with the same amount of money, and you may also be able to purchase items that the seller didn't originally intend to actually sell, but I am better with words. In the end, it's persuasion that gets the information, brother.

Kain stared at the apprentices, smiling under his cloak. It must be hard for them to wait. "Apprentices Keegan and Aquilla step forward. I take you as my apprentices to teach and train as ranger's so that you will one day pass your trials and protect the kingdom.

Steel sighed as he waited patiently for the master to choose. Shurely they wouldn't make him wait too much longer. Looking over he studied the other apprentice. Could it be that they would be the only new knights, if so he hoped that they would get on. It was likely that they would have to work as a team.

((And Aquilla Knights and rangers dont really work together))
PostPosted: Fri Jun 09, 2006 4:44 am

((And they certainly do not train together! Rangers train out in the forests while the knights train at the keep.))

Thais stepped forward. "I take the boy Tarrant to train as a ranger so that you will one day pass your trials and become an Oakleaf bearer," she said, nodding at the boy formally.

"Curtis, Steel, you will be training as knights under Uriel and myself, to one day become defenders of the kingdom," Griffith said, grinning, before saluting his charges and frowning. "And first thing i would like you boys to do would be to join the other knight apprentices, who are preparing for a 10 mile run this very morning," he said, watching his new apprentices groan.

((Hello anyone there? Pheonix? Aquilla??? stare ))
Steel sighed, an apprentice for less than a minute and already about to do a 10 mile run. "Yes, sir," Steel said as he wandered over to where he hoped the battleschool was. It wouldn't be the first time he had ended op in a stream or something.

((Hmm? Hullo thar))
It seems it may be a while before we get taht chance to test our skills, brother. Keegan smiled openly, glad to have found his station in life. Stepping forward, he nodded his appreciation before adding, "I will study hard and diligently in order to uphold the honour of the Rangers."

Tarrant repeated the phrase Keegan had used. His brother was always better at finding the right words to use. Besides, his stomach was tied in a knot with excitement.

((Had nothing to post...well, almost nothing razz ))

Kain smiled at the apprentice,"Good. Well i guess you and Aquilla((Where ever you are stare )) can start by setting up your room. Then you have to clean up and prepare dinner. After that we start early in the morning with bow training. Any questions?" KAin asked as he prepared to take the apprentices off.

"No, sir((For want of a better title-any help?))," Keegan replied happily. The ecstasy of being selected was overwhelming, and it would take several minutes for his body to get used to that feeling. Keegan looked at Aquilla closely, not having observed him properly until now. He seemed nice enough.

Tarrant waited patiently for his orders from Thais. He figured she was waiting for the other apprentices to leave the room first.
