How about we make this thread a detailed explanation of the evidence for the big bang theory and the best books to read on the subject?

Also I would rather you explain the inflationary theory, the links are good though, just don't leave them alone.

Um, I don't understand inflation. I'll type up something for HEP [as in, "the particles" of the HEP] when I have some time next week.
