My mom just asked me this 5 minutes ago. 'cause I have a rash on the side of my neck, and she's getting paranoid. I keep telling her the rash is from a different swimsuit I had to wear, and it was rubbing. She said this half-jokingly, but I get the strangest feeling she still doesn't believe me. o_O For one thing, my mom doesn't joke around with stuff like that too often for me to believe.

Well, she just went off with the same lecture she always gives. Focus on school and swimming and nothing else. You don't have time to do this or that, your friends aren't important, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway. I don't like it when my mom gets all paranoid and naggy like that. I don't do anything wrong, and yet she still doesn't trust me.

My mother and I don't talk about me having a boyfriend. Well... she does. I don't.

So we don't have to worry about that.

Maybe you should ask her why she doesn't trust you?

A lot of mothers seem to be like that.

My mom kicked my boyfriend out of the house once last year when I yawned after watching a movie. She was like, "She needs to focus on sleeping instead of being around you."

I was sitting there like, "WTF!?"

Heh, my mom is actually a good parent. I haven't had a boyfriend yet, simply because I'm fairly picky, but if I did my mom would be totally supportive of me. It's probably because my mom understands that I'm a good kid and I'm not just going to go out with some ho-bag of a man. I think she's also aware that I'm so selfish that I'd probably tell him to go away so that I could go to sleep, or I'd just use him as a human body-pillow.

It's not that my mom isn't a good parent... I understand that she's probably just really worried about me and wants what she thinks is best. My brother never earned good grades or kept up with any sports, but I did both. I think she wants to keep it that way.

However, I don't really think it fair that she won't allow me to have a boyfriend. My brother had his first girlfriend when he was a sophmore in high school, and they are still together, too. He's a sophmore in college now.

Anyway. [Disco], I've asked her that before. She always replies with a, "You never know. Kids these days are crazy." ...she reads the newspaper and listens to the news too much, methinks.

Ah well. I've gotten used to it. S'not like I want boyfriend right now anyway. It's just annoying when my mom says stuff like that.

I wish someone would ask me that maybe once.

O__o Why wouldn't she allow you ot have a boyfriend? That's not really fair.

My mother was the sole cause for my failed relationships. She refused to allow me to see anyone, and still does. I kind of hated my mother after awhile...but it's okay now.

I hate the title "boyfriend and girlfriend". Just hanging around alone with someone of the opposite gender can cause a lot of rumors and gossip. Even just having the title implies that sex and marriage will be involved...

That's true, Xumbra. I don't like that title either.

Plus, generally, high school relationships are overrated (to me). If you are part of one, you are generally obligated to do some things that a "boyfriend and girlfriend" would do, even if you don't want to at first. People expect to see you with the other person all the time, holding hands, gazing at one another, kissing, etc. The relationship part seems kind of fake. Doesn't really seem worth it to me...I'd rather wait until I'm a little older and understand the whole relationship thing.

I wouldn't know though. That was just general...some relationships, like my brothers, are genuine. 'tis why I can't say all high school relationships are pointless. It depends on the people and circumstances.

Besides, I'm busy most of the time to have a girlfriend anyway. I will definitely not chose anyone over my GPA at this point.

So true. School is my life, sadly.

Well, I have a boyfriend, but I'm not obligated to do anything I don't want to with him. He also leaves me alone so I can do my school work and even helps me sometimes if I need it, so it doesn't affect my school work, GPA, or anything like that, so my parents generally don't mind.

Oh yeah. There's the internet to consider, too...
