Paradise had decided to lay on the edge of the lake shore where the water would come up to. She gazed out upon the frequently broken surface and sighed. The little cervitaur was so bored and so alone, it drove her insane.

((^^ Nice new hairdo! Alright, I'm so sorry, I've got to go now, but I'll definately be back later, hopefully today, to reply. wink ))"Hey...you down there," growled a hostile voice from above. A little black cattaur cub crouched between the branches of a young willow, watching Paradise with yellow-orange eyes and dark slitted cat pupils. "What're you doing under my tree? Your sighing woke me up!" She complained irritably.
The child was older than the cervitar infant, though not by much. However, her bullying manner made her give the impression of a full grown wildcat, even if she wasn't so good at it. It was obvious Leila thought more of herself than reasonable. But then, cattaur were commonly known to be vain, by their beauty or, in this case, their ferocity.

((Ha thanks, I love it!))
Paradise looked up at the cattaur like she was insulting her. "I..I.. I didn't mean to. I don't see your name on it." She snided up at the plain looking taur, not moving more then her neck.
(( ^^ Cheeky Paradise))

((Lol whee ))"It doesn't matter if you didn't mean to and it doesn't have my name on it. It's mine, and everyone knows that. Anyone who doesn't is just dumb." She snarled viciously, advancing on her tree limb. "I like it here near the water, and I'm staying, so go somewhere else.""Leila, you're probably the only cattaur who likes water or can even swim," A timid voice commented. "How was she supposed to know? Just leave her alone. She's never even met you before." A colorful, striped centaur boy trotted toward them, appearing distressed. He was very careful to avoid Leila's tree as he neared the lake and came to rest a little ways away from Paradise. He looked as if he thought she might be just as dangerous as the cattaur. The cattaur girl called Leila rolled her eyes. "And just what are you going to do about it if I don't, zebra stripes? Are you going to come and fight me instead?" Her tail twitched, and she seemed to be much more at ease. Her superior attitude always swelled when Lycoris was around.Lyco flinched at the name 'zebra stripes', though he wasn't sure why. He knew niether he nor Leila knew what a zebra was, only that the new girl, Wasibru, had mentioned it a couple of times when talking about Lycoris. Leila must have picked it up from her, only when Wasibru said it, she looked sympathetic. When Leila used it as a nickname for Lyco, she made it sound like an insult, and he hated her for it. It was just another one of those ways she tried to keep him under her paw, even though he was a few months older than her. And worst of all, she managed it without much resistance.
Lycoris wasn't much of a rebel. He despised himself for being cowardly ever since he was little, and though he had tried hard to improve, he wasn't making much progress. As he had grown, he was sure he would be braver, stronger, and better than when he was an infant. But there had been one thing he hadn't counted on: Leila had grown just as much as he had. Now he was starting to believe it was hopeless; that he would never be ahead of her. He would never amount to anything more than a freak coward centaur with technicolor zebra stripes.
Instead of answering Leila, the centaur child chose instead to turn to Paradise, only a few feet away. "I think maybe we should get out of here. I know a much more fun place, anyway. It's a lot safer, too." He nodded toward Leila; her head tilted slightly, eyebrow raised, and ears swerving to listen in on their conversation. "Wanna come?"

Paradise watched the interaction between the two with interest. Feeling sorry for the taur older then him she swelled up her chest.
"I'm not afraid.. She's not that big and bad.. Just a cattaur. It's not her tree.. It's like... For everyone to share." With a snear she looked up at the cattaur, who as far as she could tell was all talk.

"That's the problem," Lyco replied miserably. "She may not look it, but she's one vicious little fur ball. And as far as I know, her only fear was water 'till she learned how to swim for her friend's sake. He's some sort of fishboy, and he taught her how." Lycoris sighed. "I've been Leila's favorite 'prey' since were were both as young as you. I accidentally hit her tree while trying to teach myself to fight, and she's been after me ever since. It was a different tree, though." He glanced cautiously at Leila once again. She was becoming increasingly annoyed. "Trees don't seem to like me much. Water niether. We can't climb it anyway..." He murmured.
"I haven't seen you around before," the centaur boy suddenly commented, looking up for the first time. His gaze had been downcast for most of the time, as he had not gotten into the habit of meeting people's eyes when he talked to them. "Are you new around here? What's your name?" A new curiosity seemed to overwhelm his depression. "Wow, you've got funny hooves. Like Fritzi."
Leila was now to her boiling point. Those two had the nerve to ignore her? They were keeping her from her nap with their suspicious glances and silent whispers! No, not them; Lyco. It was all his fault. By the snipets of conversation she did manage to hear, and the tone of Lycoris' miserbale voice, she could easily detect talk of her behind her back. "Would you two get on with it?!" She growled at them, staring daggers with her slitted pupils. "Leave me alone! I want to sleep, or I'm going to be very cranky tonight when I'm stalking prey!"
Lycoris sighed and shook his head. "As if you're not always cranky...she's such a terrible stalker with all her growling and pouncing and sounds, but for some reason she's still very good at hunting. 'Catching prey' as she calls it...and that 'prey' would be me." He groaned. "Let's get out of here.

Paradise felt for the boy that was older then her and agreed to let it go and go off with Lycoris. Standing up she stretched then walked off with him. As her adgetation quickly faded, she smiled and took time to admire his designs on his fur and skin as she spoke.
"I see. I'm sorry that you get picked on by suck a little cat."
Her admiration of the bright blue colors was thrown off when he commented on her hooves.
"I like my hooves... Who's Fritzi?"

"Oh...I like them too. Um...Fritzi's this...well, I guess he's a cervitaur, but when I was little, I thought he was a tree and called him 'tree-man' 'cause they got those funny branches sticking out of their head. He's different, though. He's got different fur. It's white, and a lot longer and softer. He's alos got funny bells tied to his two front legs. That's the only way we know he's comming, because he's just as quiet as a cattaur. He's really bid, though, 'cause he's a grown up, but he's so nice, he's the only one Leila will actually listen to."
Lycoris caught Paradise staring at his stripes and blushed, embarrassed. "Sorry. I hate those stupid stripes...I just wanna be normal." He sighed. As they walked, Lycoris suddenly stopped. His ears swerved cautiously. "Oh no..." he moaned. "Hide. Quickly!" Grabbing Paradise by the hand, he leapt into a bush, ducking just as an arrow flew overhead, lodging itself firmly in a tree, directly in the path of where his head had been.

"He sounds cool.. And you shouldn't be ashamed of your stripes. They're bea-" Paradise was cut off as she was pulled into a bush. She peered up with a puffed out chest. Why were they shooting an arrow at her? Who would do such a thing? She was just walking!
Mind racing, she looked around, poking her head out of the bushes.

"Lycoris! Hey, Why'd you run away?!" a little girl's voice called, approaching them. It was much sweeter than Leila's, and there were definate hoofbeats."Why'd you think?!" Lyco retorted angrily, rising from his hiding place shortly after Paradise. "You can't just go shooting people! Where you trying to kill us or something?!""Us?" The little centaur girl peered around him and noticed the youger taur child beside him. "Oh! Hi there! I'm Wasibru! Sorry, I didn't see you guys! Well, at first I thought you were some animal, but I wasn't going to shoot to kill, just to see if I could aim right. I guess I was off. I meant to hit higher." she explained, blushing, as she pulled the crude arrow out of the tree and stuck it back in her quiver. "Sorry my friend..." she said, facing the tree and touching the spot where her arrow had hit."Great. Sha apologizes to the tree, but not to us, who she nearly killed!" Lycoris burst out."It was the one that was hurt, not you, so quit your complaining! That's all you ever do!" Wasibru yelled at him suddenly, causing him to back off."Whatever...come on, Paradise, let's keep going...the girls here are crazy...""Paradise? That's such a pretty name!" Wasibru exclaimed cheerfully. "Hey, Lycoris, where are your manners? Aren't you going to introduce us?""No," he answered, walking away without a second glance. Girls were so annoying."Fine!" she called back to him. "Be that way! But if I were you, I'd start running. I just saw Leila coming from the lake and she looked pretty angry...""Yeah right," he muttered sarcastically, more to convince himself than anyone. "Stupid girls..."

Paradise took an immediate liking to the girl after she figured out she wasn't purposely trying to hurt them.
"Wait, Lyco, I want to talk to her..." Paradise said, still with her blush from a compliment about her name. Seeing how Lyco wasn't about to introduce them, she took the initiative herself.
"Hi, I'm Paradise. What's your name and what's that?" Her eyes immediatly went to ge centaur's bow and arrow.
