So if you have talked to me as of this week, you would have heard me mumbling about a friend of mine's father.

Michael Whelan is a famous artist. Incase you have never heard of him, he has done some covers for a few Stephen King books and Isaac Asimov books.

But my main reason for posting this is to truely show this man's potential. This weekend I went to his son's party and when you walk into this man's house he has his paintings all over the house. The one thing that facinated me is a painting he did of Sam and Frodo. The scary thing was, he painted the exact scene where Sam and Frodo are on a rock after Mount Doom exploded and the Eagles are coming to get them. He did it before the movies came out but it looks like the exact scene. I just thought it was a cool thing I could share with you guys. I wish he had the picture up online for me to show you guys but I guess I shall have to ask his son to take a picture of it for me.

I'm pretty sure he has also done a cover for Lord of the Rings.

Biography

So that's one artist, now you all have the opportunity to share your artists. Provide references and biographies if you can.

That is SO cool! I'll have to rummage through my LOTR Drawings Calendar to get to know some of the artists. Sadly, I don't many of them -_-

That is really amazing. Artists never get enough recognition. I'm not much into the art world, but I'll look into some LOTR inspired composers. I think we all know of Andrew Lloyd Webber though.

Unless he did Phantom of the Opera. I'm confused now. Help?

Hmm I think it's Howard Shore? I'm not positive myself though!
