Cumulus clouds gathered overhead, rolling and whisping about as strong breezes and air currents drove them in a hurried fashion. In the distance, thunder crashed and echoed with a fierce rumble as, from above, the small patter and splashes fell towards the ground.
The rain had come.
From underneath the protection of pines and thickets, a small dark-aubern muzzle peeked out. The sound of thunder had only made his heart race and cause him to cower within the confines of a small safehaven but, with the coming of rain, the fear of thunder had seemed to depart. A pair of vibrant green eyes sparkled with curoisity as the young pup wandered out into the open.
At only a few months, the deep aubern and purple hued pup had found himself away from his pack as a driven curosity had helped him find his way to an unfamiliar place. His black paws stiff-leggedly treaded upon the sopping ground as his fadded tail swayed in an excited manner.
"Rain, Rain, Rain!" He chanted with an estatic yip as he closed his eyes, and let the small droplets run down his face, crossing and weaving against his black eye markigns that branched outwards in a contorted array.
Never had he felt such a strange sensation! The coming of rain was most unsuspected but, in Cael's situation, it was most pleasently welcomed.
Cael's eyes flickered open as he leaped upwards onto his back legs as a wide grin slid across his maw. Oh, the mischief and rush of energy such a young pup conjured when experiencing new things. With all the force he could assert into his forepaws, the young male crashed to all fours and watched in awe as a mixture of water and mud breeched upwards and spattered his fur.
Shaking himself off, Cael chuckled softly and began romping around in the gathered puddles that lurked nearby to splash and rummage within the mud.
Boys will be boys.

The coming of the rain had surprised Rage of how fast it had approached. Separated from those she knew she peered around from the bank of a stream. Sitting, waiting. She wanted to get back...go home. Her new home, for her other had been washed away and lost just as the leaves tumbling down the stream with the newcoming rain strengthening the current.
What to do, she wondered, gazing into the murky waters of the once clear stream, lost she was, where was Amelie, or Phib, or Mozelle? She couldn't pick up their scent in this rain, not at all. She was still so very young, and small compared to most others her age. Most likely from the things she had experienced caused this, or so thats what Rage believed.
Thunder crashed overhead and lightning lit up the gray clouded sky above. The wind whirled around and carried an array of wet and stale scents...but one caught her attention. A wolf? Her eyes widened, she was alone here, and small...what if they weren't friendly? She wouldn't be able to defend herself. And what would they think of her with her markings? From far away it seemed as if blood was spattered on her forearms, might as well be that...since...no, don't think about it.
Rage shook her head clearing the thoughts, but what to do? How to hide? She wondered if the mud of the stream bed would cover the markings on her fur if need be, it could work, if she needed to. She merely laid on the flat stone beneath her and curled her tail around her small frame, hoping the wolf would pass by, or that they were friendly.

Adrenaline and a blossoming curosity of the world around him urged him to continue splashing and tumbling about within the puddles but there was something that caught his attention.
Just as he slammmed his forepaws into the depths of another puddle and staggered upon all fours, a passing breeze whisped across his nose and carried the scent of another. His ears perked upwards as he tilted his head slightly. The young male was not alone, he was not the only wolf.
Shaking himself off as gathered raindrops began matting his soft purple and deep auburn fur, the young pup slowly began to pad towards the clearing of the forest as only the small scent carried by the wind began leading him to the unknown figure. But this was just another adventure! There wasn't anything to fear, right?
"Maybe it's a big, strong wolf! An Alpha! With big teeth and cool markings...those from the pack like dad!" Cael softly whispered to himself in a secretive manner as he perused through the open area with a gleeful grin.
The lingering smell grew stronger and stronger, wreathing about his muzzle as he trailed closer. His small tail wagged joyously behind him as the outcropping of rocks and the smoothed stones slowly appeared from the distance. He had past by here countless times with his father, hunting, talking and, of course, spending quality time tryin to catch good 'ol dad offgard and get a good n** at his tail. But daddy wasn't here to protect him if the one he sought was seeking a meal.
Slowly yeilding in his steps, Cael bucked up his courage and puffed out his chest. He wasn't going to let fear stop him! Oh no, not this time!
Padding with a slight stride in his steps, the young pup slowly approached the rocks and, to his surprise, found the one whose scent had lead him on the newfound adventure; A small, black female with red markings. The same color his father was riddled in.
With a slight sigh of relief, the young pup smiled warmly. "I found you!"

Rage nearly jumped and fell off of the rock into the stream, but instead she rolled off of it to tumble onto the ground with a 'thump' and then look up to meet a pair of curious green eyes. Her tail uncurled from her body as she stood up adn shook her fur, ears perking forward as she tilted her head to look over the wolf, just a pup like her, male too, but he seemed a bit older than she was, but no threat.
He looked strange, but in a funny way, over confident and adventurous he seemed, with his chest puffed out like he was mighty, indeed he was funny.
Her tail shifted and swayed behind her a bit, the rain now dampening her fur, it being transparent and running down the side of her face and legs seemed like she might have been bleeding, perfectly fine she was though.
"Found me?" she asked with confusion, was she hiding and playing a game right now? No, course not, she was separated from Phib's land is what she was. But introductions would be good right about now, "Hi....I'm Rage." she wondered if he would believe her name to be silly or odd.

A wide grin spread across his maw as he tilted his head and supressed a small laugh. "I found you. It was your scent that led me here," he replied with a soft tone. "Were you hiding from something? Or are you alone out here?"
Situating himself to sit upon his haunches in front of the black, young wolfess, Cael shifted his paws upon the surface of the ground as he hung his head and hid his face from her.
He was never good at introductions.
Saying his name to those he knew or members of the pack was easy but, to say them to a stranger, never did come easy. It was silly for him to be shy over such a small question yet he couldn't help but, at most times, to feel a bit insecure and unsure of himself.
"I'm- I am..I'm Ca- Cael." He stammered with a shake of his head and a slight, sheepish grin. "My name is Cael."
"Rage?" Cael repeated as he attempted to catch the feel of the new name, "Rage.."
His small muzzle wrinkled as a bit of laughter escaped from his maw. Such a name sounded like one of the packs warriors and hunters but, for her appearance, it seemed fitting. After all, that's how many of the pack members recieved their names.
"I like your name," he yipped with a wag of his tail. "Are you apart of Tesan's pack?"

Rage nodded in acknowledgement (sp?XD) to his his name and merely smiled. The wind blew hard for a moment as a gust passed them by, Rage's eyes trailed off for a moment watching it blow through the trees, it was cool and calming, she blinked then turned her attention back to Cael.
He said her name a couple times, perhaps trying to get used to it. But she saw a kind of smirk perhaps upon his maw and she heard a slight laugh escape him, even if he did not mean it. Her tail shifted as the wind returned, rustling her fur.
Her eyes seemed to gleam for a moment with an unfamiliar emotion within them, she could feel her muscles tense and the need to growl. He laughed...laughed at your name...the only thing you have left given to you by those you have lost... What was this voice, she shook her head but she still felt something within her begin to boil, her heart beginning to beat in a strange way.
She shook ehr head and her eyes returned to their 'normal' amber color as she just looked on at Cael, Tail swaying again now, "Thanks...yours, is nice too yes?" again with the odd talking, she couldn't help it, she was still getting used to talking to toher she did not know still, even with Amelie she did this. Though Rage tilted her head at Caels' next statement, "Who is Tesan?"

Cael sat quietly as her reaction to her laugh seemed to offend her in the slightest way. His ears flattened against his skull as a soft whine sounded. He never did like to hurt anyones feelings, Cael never liked to feel guilty of making anyone uncomfortable.
His vibrant green eyes drew low as he began sinking within a wallowing guilt, condeming himself silently and hoping not to let her notice. He always was an embarassment to the pack for being such a softie while every other wolf was a born warrior. How did he end up with apathy?
Cael glanced upwards as the black female spoke, his eyes still trying to hide away from her. "Thanks. My Dad gave it to me...." he replied with a hushed tone, self reflective and questioning.
"He always said I was never ment to be a warrior so I couldn't have one of the ancient tongue but only the strongest wolves could ever have those names."
A softened heart and lively eyes; he wasn't much of his father, nor a killer or a warrior. He was...Cael. The blood of the warrior never did run through his veins as he was very much a passive and calm soul. But to be called a disgrace and dishonorable only made his heart ache.
How he wanted to be like his father! But, no- that was someone he could never emulate.
Drawing his head up slowly, Cael gave a weak smile. "Tesan is the Alpah from my pack. Your markings of red are like the tribal markings everyone is gifted with. I guess...you just reminded me of my pack and my father."

Rage padded up to Cael and sat next to him, feeling bad for reacting the way she did towards him. She really didn't even know what had happened just moments before, it was so strange, she could not figure out why she did it, and she felt sorry for it, she hoped he'd understand somehow in an odd way.
Cael's description of warriors and his pack and ancient names given to strong wolves adn warriors made Rage slightly confused, it just took her a minute to comprehend everything he was saying, but she did in short time.
Rage then glanced down at ehr forearms and lifted her right paw to bring it closer to her view after Cael had spoken of markings and such, "I never wanted these..." she said with her ears flattenting back again, "they're just constant reminders of..." she paused and had to come up with something quick, "the past is all."
The mentioning of Cael's pack made Rage wonder where they were, was he lost too? "Where is your pack?" she asked curiously, tail shifting slightly.

A slightly baffled look crossed upon Cael's maw as he peered over towards the red markings upon the black wolfess. How could anyone not want the tribal markings of the ancient? In the culture of his pack, such markings were revered and look upon as a sign of strength and honor. But, in Cael's case, he never was emulated for honor and strength. To the others, he was nothing but a runt.
"If you were in my pack, you would be honored. Not many wolves bear the markings of the ancient. You're lucky," he replied with a slight smile, his overall mood slowly regenerating as his tail swayed behind him in a display of content manner.
Confused and still trying to comprehend the question, Cael tilted his head slightly and peered towards the ground for a moment. "My pack? Oh, I got lost from them. I followed a butterfly and ended up here..."

Rage considered his story and was in a slight moment of shock by hearing that her markings, the same markings that had led her down a terrible path since the moment she had been born...would be seen as an honor to have? My, how the different cultures of wolves from all over diverged from one another with customs.
Though she wished she didn't have them, trouble is all they were, reminders, she sighed but with a smile, she'd be glad to be rid of her markings, but a gift they could be seen as, from her parents, she wouldn't want to lose that. "Lucky perhaps in one's eyes...but not in another yes?" again with the strange talk, she nearly bit her tongue out of frustration upon herself.
He followed a butterfly? How curious he must be then. A much better way to get separated then how Rage was before. But now she had just merely wandered in the wrong direction, she'd be able to find her way back...somehow.
"Does Cael believe he will be able to get back to them yes?" if not, they could try to find someone who would be able to. That is if he wanted to, for some reason Rage got the idea that Cael wasn't overly fond of his pack, as Rage had been with most in her birthpack.

His ears flickered as he nodded, taking in what the young wolfess spoke of. The thought of why he had been disreguarded and not graced by the tribal markings that were looked upon as honorable and blessed by those of the past. Perhaps he was never ment to hold the title of "warrior", maybe that set path of destiny was never ment to be his.
Slumping down to his stomach, Cael wrinkled his muzzle as he rolled onto his side. "Maybe...I'm better off without them. Dad always said that packlife ain't for every wolf so maybe I'm better off on my own and out of their way."
He had seen it before, Cael had witnessed it.
Packlife was not in store for every wolf nor was it the prime choice for every soul. The protection and family establishment was a benifit but to be constantly taunted and tormented was at its breaking point. Perhaps living on his own wouldn't be so bad, right?
"So," he began with a rather curious tone, innocent and questionable, "if your not from Tesan's pack, then whose pack are you from? Whose your Alpha? Or are you separated from your pack too?"

Rage tilted her head and felt her mouth go dry. Such questions from this pup, though for a moment he seemed deep in thought, but his words before did hold some truth and meaning, Rage noted them and hoped to remember them.
The term separated hit Rage's heart and made it ache for a moment...how to explain without the pain?
"DOes Cael mean my pack now or before?" not mentioning her birthpack, trying to stay away from that term. "Now Rage's alpha is Phib yes." Phib was caring yet quite strong, Phib adn Amelie had helped Rage, she would never forget it, she swore on her life.
Her tail shifted as she tried to think of what else to say, "Rage's pack from before had guardians...no real alphas..." she said with a faint smile. Her birthpack had many guardians that watched over them, strong fighter to protect, shamsns to heal, seers to help sooth the minds of others.

Tilting his head slightly, the deep auburn-brown pup raised a brow as he looked upon her with softened turquoise-green eyes.
Her current pack or the pack she once resided with? No- he had no intention whatsoever to make her uncomfortable under any circumstances and he knew, oh Cael knew too well, of the heartaches and sorrows of not belonging within ones own pack. Rather than question her, the young pup pretended as if such a reply was never given; he would only inqiure of the pack she currently resided within.
"Phib," he commented as the sound of such a peculiar name seemed the roll of the tongue in an odd fashion. "I've never heard of him but he sounds fierce."
Before he was to open his maw again to speak, the black wolfess spoke again and, in respect, the young pup fell silent as he listened.
Guardians? Instead of Alpha's?
What a strange concept!
Still hesitant and not wanting to bring up the past, Cael smiled as his tail swayed behind him in an upbeat manner. "What are you doing out here, Rage? Shouldn't you be with Phib and your pack?"

Rage made an interesting expression went she went to half circle around Cael and the winf blew against the tree right behind them, making many droplets of water fall on her head making her ears flatten out sideways. She shook her head, the stray droplets falling everywhere before she took a place next to Cael again.
"I was with them yes...but I took a wrong turn so it seems..." she was with them before, not long before, and she wandered day dreaming also which didn't help her situation. She did that sometimes, making reality appear how she wanted...was fun to do for a pup who was in a new place. "I should...but, I don't know how to get back yet..."
She was still young, not able to track things or pick up scents in the rain like others could. Her memory was so horrible she couldn't even remember from which direction she had come from.

As the pattering rain continued to fall with the aid of a light, whisping breeze, Cael wrinkled his muzzle. His fur was nearly sopping wet and he could feel the small droplets roll and trail across his fur. Nevertheless, he didn't mind it at all and, strangely, he welcomed such weather.
His head cocked slightly to the side, vibrant green eyes softened as Rage explained how she ended up away from her pack. So, she was lost too? A small idea flickere within his train of thought. Cael could help her, yes- he could help Rage.
"I-I can help you," he replied with a broad smile, his voice jubiulent yet shakey. Talking never did come naturally; Cael was, at most times, intimidated or frightened to ever speak. "Parts of the woods are familiar but some aren't but I can help."
Rising up to all fours as his black woven paws brushed against the surface in an estatic lunge, he looked back towards the black female as his tail swayed merrily behind him.
"Do you remember anything? Like trees, shrubs, rocks or other stuff?"
