Nighttime on the Prideland borders was usually a quiet time; the stars weren't hidden by any clouds, so the night seemed perfect. That is, of course, until a random yelp came from the thorn patch as a black juvenile lioness with white markings emerged from the depths of the thorns to the ledge leading to the grasslands.
"This is getting harder to get out off," said the lioness, seemingly to the thorns themselves. She scowled and started to lick a fresh scratch on her paw. "It's not so bad," said a jackal as she, too, emerged from the thorn patch. She was a slightly lighter shade of black when compared to the lioness, but she blended in equally well in the night. "Come, let's go hunting; I'm extremely hungry."
As the pair walked to the grasslands, the jackal glanced about the lands, as if she was looking for something extremely important. Yet the glint in her eyes wasn't the glint of pure hunger. Something else, perhaps, drew her further into the grasslands.

The dusty yellow coat of the small male shimmered like moonlight in the darkness. He could possibly even be mistaken as a ghost the way he moved. The male was slender and rather slight considering he was an adult, his mane not drawny but not fluffy like most lions it gve him a very sleek and slender appearance all around
He paused and looked around "s..s..s.so lu..lu..lu.." he paused and took a breath "lost" he shook his head, he had no idea where he was going, mist weavers his mother had said but now he was going there he had no idea of the direction.
Small voices near by caught his attention and he flattened hinmself to the ground. Both were femenine by the sounds of it but he didn't want to be caught and taken in to a pride, he had to get to the mistweavers, his mother had said so.

"Do you see anything yet?" asked the lioness, completely oblivious to the shimmering yellow ghost-like form that was nearby. "I haven't seen anything yet. I'm really hungry, too; do you think we could catch something REALLYBIG?" The lioness jumped back and forth with excess energy, as if she were dying to show off her hunting skills to the jackal. "We've been in the thorn patch too long." "Perhaps we have been, if you did not just see what I saw," said the jackal as she squinted at the spot she though she saw that creature disappear into. Could it possibly be...? The fur didn't seem quite right, but it had been a while since she saw him, so her mind could be playing tricks on her. Still, it couldn't hurt to try...the thorn patch was close, and they were both capable of running if there was something dangerous there. "Auri, is that you?" she called out.

Liza tried to flatten himself deeper in to the ground, but it was quite difficult considering his size. Even a small male lion couldn't hide in grass, especially when you were his colour. "Uhmm.." he mumbled "nu..nu.nu..no ma'am I'm juh..juh..just puh passing through" he stumbled over his words, he had to obey his mothers last words to him go to the mistweavers. He couldn't be taken under the wing of a female here, unless these weere the mist weavers lands?
"I ..uhm..yes..looking for uhm..mu..mu..mist wuh..weavers..i..i..is this th..the place?" his ears perked slightly and he peerd through the grass nervously.

"Who's this Auri person?" the lioness asked, eyeing her jackal mom with a quizzical expression. "I've never heard of this Auri person; why haven't you told me of this Auri person?"
Then, she blinked as she listened to the strange other creature speak. "I've never heard of the Mu-mu-mist-wuh-weavers...this is the border of the Pridelands. You might ask a Pridelander where the Mu-mu-mist-wuh-weavers are; we're just a couple of rogues. My name's Tufani. I'm gonna be a big scary lioness someday!" "I am Jani'mwiba, but you may call me Jani," said the jackal, after she had gotten the sigh of disappointment out of her system. Though it wasn't who she was looking for, at least the other creature didn't seem to be much of a threat. He did seem to be afraid of them, after all. "You do not need to fear us, sir, despite what Ms. Tufani has said," she added as she gave the lioness a glare of warning. "Mind your manners, dear; this person is a guest for the time that he is passing through."
After a moment's thought, she turned to the lion and said. "I am afraid I do not know who the Mu-mu-mist-wuh-weavers are either. Perhaps you could approach Pride Rock and ask the king or his followers where the correct way to go is."

Liza flushed a little and looked extremely embarerssed tying to hide his sleek furry head in the ground. Ah to be an ostrich right now. His mother always sued to bully him about his stutter, he never expected anyone else to though. "I..I..I wu..wu..wu..wuill fu..dfu..find it event..event.." he paused looking for another word "one day"
He paused in contemplation, what was a king? Weren't there only, well big females whom knew what you should do? "Uhm..I..uhm am Liza.." he managed quite clearly with only a few pauses for thaught."I..I..I'm sh..shure yu..you w..w...will grow up..buh..buh..buh.." he paused again "big like all other li..li..lionesses." He raised his head a bit peering through the grasses with sweet nervous orange eyes.

"Yeah!" the lioness exclaimed, rather liking this adult lion that would admit she was going to be big one day. Jani never would admit that she'd be taller someday. "I betcha you will find it one day. Until then, I think you'd be welcome here. I'm not a pride member or anything, but so far no big scary lion has come to drive us off...If you want a place to stay for the night, the thorn patch has room for someone who looks for it." "I do not believe he'd fit in there," the jackal said. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Liza." she said as she stepped closer to him. "I am sorry we could not help you find what you were looking for. But perhaps you could at least accompany us on our hunt so that you may be fed for your journey."

Liza peered at the little Jackal before him. He had never seen one before but it was female and to be respected and cow towed to, even if they were smaller than him. That was the way things were. "Uhmmm..yu..yes maa'am. I c..c..c..can br..br..bring sumething duh..duh..duown for us..if...if..iff..it uh..pl.pl..pleases! He stutters his black tipped ears twitching as he stood up.
He was not a large lion, though certainly he did not have any further to grow. His sleek black and silver mane flowed accross his shoulders in a sleek shiney manner and he smiled shyly at the two females lowering his head a bit so he did not look like he was stareign or trying to tower over them.

Tufani sniffed the air and looked about. "I think the herds are that way," she said, indicating with a nod of her head. "An' you don't need to take one down all by yourself, Mr. Liza. We can do our part. I'm gettin' good at sneakin' up and scaring things."
She smiled and started walking toward the smells, being careful to check for the others to make sure they could still see her. Jani checked to be certain that the lioness was correct before pausing, as if suddenly realizing something. "I am a jackal, in case you were wondering. I've had to explain that to practically every creature I've run into on the savannah; it seems that there aren't as many jackals on the lands as there should be."
As she walked closer to where the herds were, she added, "We'd better split up here. If you could be so kind as to scare the herds so that they run past Tufani and I, it would be most lovely."

Liza nodded, he was used to taking orders from females and he was a good hunter. His mother had trained him well before she had died, training him to kill the elephant he refused to fight.
His body fell low to the ground as he stalked up behind the prey, his sleek shhoulder mucles tencing as he picks out a beast. Down wind he could easily leap and take one of the beasts in a blind side. he still dove from the cover of the long grasses, his claws flayed he caught one of the beasts with a swish of his claw and kept running chasing the zebra towards the tow females.

Tufani watched from her position. She was glad that she was downwind of the beasts, though momentarilly she was afraid that they'd stampede into her and Jani, who had hidden herself nearby. Luckily, that was not to be, and there was a weakened zebra, practically waiting for the taking.
The seconds passed, and still she waited in a crouching position, waiting until the beast was almost past her...
Then she lept, claws in the air. She had injured it, but it wasn't completely down. Now it was Jani's turn to finish the job. Swiftly the jackal ran toward the zebra and Tufani and bit it in the jugular before it had a chance to kick at the two of them. Once she was certain it was dead, the jackal let go and smiled at Liza, licking some of the blood from around her mouth.
"Thank you for your help. Come, take your fill."

Liza had come to a dusty halt as the large zebra had come down. he watched silently as the little jackal took it's life and he smiled weakly settling down with his front paws tucked beneath him, he waited "th..th..thankyou b..bu..but lu..lullu..ladies fu..first" he stuttered his deep orange eyes restingupon the two females. He had never been allowed to eat, nor even offered to eat before his mother. What had changed here? Wern't males supposed to be second to the kill? His ears twitched, this was becoming a very confusing meeting.

Tufani snickered. "He called me a lady," she said. But, far be it from her to not eat when there was food in front of her. Before Jani could say anything against it, the lioness tore off one of the legs and carried it a short distance away, where she could eat and stay out of the way of the big lion. "Nonsense," Jani said, "You worked just as hard as we did for this kill...you deserve your share." Then, noting how uncomfortable the lion seemed, she added, "If it would really make you feel better for us to take our fill first, then so be it. I don't eat much, so if you'll just excuse me for a moment..." she then turned and pulled off some more meat from the area around where Tufani's leg piece had been. "Awl yrs..." she mumbled as she carried her piece away to were Tufani was sitting.

Liza paused as the females padded off with their own peicesof the kill. Even then, he hesitated, waiting for them to at least have eaten a bit before he creapt up to the kill and started to eat. For a while he was engrossed in eating, his pale cheeks becoming red as he ate. It was unusual for the male to get the choice of the beast he had hunted for. Certainly he had only eaten the haunches of a beast a paw full of tmes in his life.
he was feeling very confused. Why was he allowed such liberties with these females? Was the world not as it had always been for him?

After finishing her portion of the kill, Tufani yawned and stared toward the thorn patch and home. "Jani...I'm gettin' sleeepy. Can we go to bed now?" The jackal looked toward the horizon, which was not as dark as it had been when they had set off for the hunt. "Certainly dear," she said, before turning to Liza. "We should be heading back to our home now. Thank you once again for your help, and good luck finding what you are searching for." With that, the jackal nudged the lioness and they started slowly walking home.((I figured this was a good place to stop. Feel free to add a last post, and thanks for the RP! ^_^))
