((This is an rp primarily for Tanaka and Kiuma, place in the lands between the Mistweavers and the Graveyard, as they travel from one place to the next. Rogue lions and other creatures are welcome to stumble into their path. ^_^)) A lanky red figure disengaged itself from the shadows beneith the trees, at the edge of the Umande'mfuni lands. As the figure paced into the open sunlight, it resolved into that of a lioness, just barely into adult hood. White bones clicked softly around her neck as she trotted and paused to sniff the air, poised on three paws. Ah! It felt good to finally be on their way again. The Umande lands, while lovely, had been opressive with the strange sense of foreboding that hung over them. She spared them meerly a single glance over her shoulder, and a passing wish that the rains would return, before the lioness dismissed them.
Exhilaration made Kiuma nearly tremble. Once more, the world lay open before her paws, just waiting for her to make the step that would bring them to her. Crimson eyes rose to scan the horizon, sparkling with eagerness. If only the world had known... it might have tried to escape. The lioness' look was more one of hunger, of predator on prey.

The figure that followed was larger, golden mane glistening in the sunlight, white fur a stark and striking contrast to the red of his companion. Great paws flexed, talons digging into the terrain of earth and grass, taking in the difference between the rock and stone they had left behind.
A long green eye scanned the horizon, his ears flicking at every sound. He inhaled, breathing in the scents around him. A smirk crossed the lion's maw, a menacing and frightening smirk. What evil thoughts hid behind that expression only he knew.
After a few moments he stepped forward to his companion's side, his shoulder brushing against hers as he did and his expression softened only for her. She had changed since this journey began, she had grown, and amazingly enough before even more beautiful and captivating than she had before. Remarkable how he had changed as well, not that long ago he wouldn't have dreamed of traveling with another, now he couldn't imagine doing so without her.
He turned toward the horizon again, his smirk returning. Ah...a new day, and the world was ripe for conquest.

Kiuma siddled as Tanaka came to brush against her shoulder, a playful growl leaving her throat. Rearing up, she batted at him with large, soft paws. Hitting him aroung the shoulders the and the sides of his head, she pulled her blows only slightly, laughing as she went. Mock fights were something she'd sorely missed as a cub, her favorite form of play yet rarely enjoyed. A fleeting part of her flew to her 'other half', all the way acrossed the Southlands and the Umande lands, in the home of the Kusini'Mwezi. The red lioness wondered how her twin fared. Had he reconcilled with his son's mother's family? Was he still living as an outcast among them?
Kiuma dismissed these thoughts as she danced around her large companion. It seemed that every step onward in their journey had seen her limbs lengthening, muscels hardening, sides filling out. While she had lost much of the lankyness of her adolescent days, she was still long-limbed. And those limbs were packed with muscle from traveling and hunting. Her shoulders and haunches rippled with it, and while she may not have the sheer size of Tanaka, she was far from a light weight. She made up for lack of size in speed and aggressiveness and skill. What a fine time to be alive and in her prime!

A low faint growl rubbled from the large white lion, but it was a sound of surprise and not anger. Any other creature would have been vicously ripped to shreds, but with Kiuma it was different. The normally harsh and cold lion became a gentle and caring soul around her. Kiuma could have gotten away with anything, and in truth Tanaka didn't mind, rather he enjoyed it.
He smirked, ducking his head to avoid a blow, returning it with a playful headbutt, tail flicking as he swatted at her shoulder with a large paw. She was the only one who brought out this side him, and he had come to realize that he would be lost without the red lioness at his side.
The fact was the he was captivated by that red form, the mix of strenght and grace, that spirit that seemed to match so well with his own. No, in truth he had fallen for her, completely, though that was something he wasn't quite ready to admit, not even to himself.
"The journey continues..."
As he spoke his jaws parted in a malicious grin that bore his fangs, a frightening grin that may have warned anyone or anything that dared cross the path of the two lions to run and hide now, hide from the monsters that were approaching.

The liones laughed as he pushed her back with his headbutt, dodging the blow to her shoulder. Jumping back, she crouched down with her tail waving through the air. He was such fun to spar with, and wonderful to have at her side as she traveled. All around, the perfect companion for her. Like Uumi, he liked her mean streak, but unlike her twin, he could match her step for step. And that's what she liked about him most.
"Yep. Onward we go, Tanaka. The world is waiting for us, its about time we got started again." She laughed as she turned with a flick of her tail, setting off on a good trot. A bright ribbon sparkled on the horizon, calling to them. Water, yes, that sounded good right now.

Tanaka took a single step back, his body coiled on 3 legs, one paw off the ground, his tail flicking behind him. It was a playful pose, one that said he was prepared should she wish to continue the game.
After a moment he relaxed, settling back onto four paws, his gazed focused forward again. That menacing smirk returned to his maw, a brief laugh escaping that massive chest, a laugh that would have struck fear into any other being.
"Indeed, if only it knew what was coming."
The lion charged forward, long powerful strides keeping him at his companion's side. His steps were light and effortless, today he was in a good mood. Unfortunately for the world, that was just as dangerous if not more so than if he had been in a bad mood.

Once more a laugh came from Kiuma, and she bounced on her cream-tipped paws. One of those paws reached to bat at him again before she sprang into a lope, a flirt of her tail daring him to out run her. "We shant tell it, shall we? Then where would be the fun? Come on, you slow poke! To the river!" Her laugh was hard and light at the same time, feather-light steel. Her muscles strained as she pushed herself, long body stretching out as her paws ate up the ground and sent her sailing over it.

Oh, so that's how she wanted to play, alright then, he could play too.
"We'll see who's slow."
He had barely finished speaking before the massive lion surged forward, limbs extending to full stride, paws falling heavy on the ground, stirring the ground and flinging dust in his wake.
Long powerful strides propelled him foward, matching his compaion's pace. The question was which one of them was faster, a question that perhaps had no answer.

Kiuma laughed as she felt Tanaka's paw falls, pounding to catch up to her. A race, yes! Running till her lungs and her legs burned, till her paws fell into the cool water of the river. Gathering herself, the lioness put on a burst of speed, slowly pulling ahead of him as she ran full out over the flat land. The wind sang as it whipped by her ears, the fall of their paws adding rythmn to it.
Yards passed below their paws in leaps and bounds, filling the lioness with exhilaration. The ribbon grew larger till it was no longer a ribbon, but a stream of water under the sun. Then the stream grew, became a wide river that rushed frothing over stones. A bright laugh split the air as Kiuma skidded to a halt, her creamy paws falling into the water against the shore as she stood panting, jaws gaping in both smile and gasp for air.

Paws fell hard on the earth, pushing the great lion forward as he charged after his companion. The thing about having such a long gait, was that it also made for long jumps; and though the red lioness may have reached the water's edge first, Tanaka was not to be outdone.
On his final stride, the lion coiled, his back end tucked under his mass like a spring. Powerful legs pushed off the ground, propelling him into a soaring leap that carried him over the red lioness. There was a great splash as large white paws met the water with a force that was certain to frighten off any creatures that may have been lurking nearby.
A smug grin crossed his maw as Tanaka turned to face the lioness, tail flicking behind him as his chest heaved with the force of his breath.
"Now, what was that about being slow?"

Kiuma ducked as the large, white form soared over her head, darting back out of the spray of cool water. A chuckle rumbled in her throat as she drew her blood red body up, lifting her nose as she eyed him. "Well, I suppose you're not slow. But I'm not the one who's wet." A smirk curled over her muzzle as she settled on her haunches and primly dryed her paws with her tongue. Her eyes glittered beneith their lids with mirth.
The sun beat down almost cruely after so long in shaded coolness, but the bright lioness hardly minded. It reminded her of at home in the Pridelands, when she used to go running off to the waterhole to terrorize the animals that came to drink.

It's true Tanaka was wet, drenched even, water streaming through his fur, flowing along the lines of his muscles, accenting each line of his powerful form. Golden strands of mane clung to white fur around his shoulders and chest, the weight of the water making his mane look much flatter and longer than it actually was. Oddly enough, he didn't seem to mind, though the smirk that crossed his maw should have been a warning.
The great lion shook from head to tail, flinging the water from his hide, droplets catching the light to look like beautiful crystal, even more water stirred by the fact that his paws were still submerged. The goal was not only to dry himself, but also to splatter Kiuma, afterall, why should he be the only one in the water.
"You were saying?"

Hissing in suprise, Kiuma nearly tripped over herself to get out of the way of the flying water. It was to no avail, and soon her fur was as soaked as his, and the color of old blood. A flash of anger brightened her eyes, and she let out a roar as her muscled body propelled her into the water after him. Soak her, would he?
Rearing up, she wrapped her wet paws around his neck with a smirk. Then, her body went boneless and she slowly toppled over backwards. He'd have to be pretty damn strong to keep from being pulled over with her into the water... Kiuma growled into his ear as she hung from his neck, her lashing tail sending up sprays of water around them.

Tanaka was caught off guard, he hadn't expected to be attacked, though it really shouldn't have surprised him. So she wanted to play rought, eh, two could play that game.
The lion's smirk turned wicked, one fang showing as a low growl rumbled in his chest. Even as large as he was, Kiuma's weight was too much for him to stay upright, but he was smarter than that. Rather than fighting, he simplly let her pull him over, using his momentum and larger size to continue the roll to that he would land on top of her.

The lioness grunted as they hit the shallow water, her spine grating against the rocky bottom. Squirming out from under him, water washing around her chin, she turned and sprang ontop of him. Kiuma pushed him down into the water as she growled, squirming to try and get all of herself out of the water and ontop of her companion. She had to admit... he was rather fun to play with. Most lions her age had grown past playing, but when one didn't get any as a cub...?
Snarling in mock fierceness, she bit at his neck, ending up with nothing more than a mouthful of fur and mane. Her tuffed tail lashed the air in frantic excitement, her claws pricking through that soft, white fur as she struggled to stay on him. Rascal, he deserved to get beaten up for wetting her like that.
