A week ago, four sealed envelopes had been sent out to four respected households. Actually, it was almost three, but since four fae were involved, it was considered for different households.

Every message held the same body. A greeting, some pleasant words and then a command. 'Please bring [the name of the fae] to the lab for a meeting.'

What kind of meeting it was supposed to be, with who, it wasn't said. Just 'please bring them to the lab'.

Shy liked being mysterious that way.

Eight in the morning, and the sun was shining weakly behind clouds too dominant for comfort. It was a windy, cool day, but pleasant enough, relaxing, as if somehow the weather seemed to want to comfort rather than enrage. Soft was better than a harsh sun, after all.

Eight in the morning, and Beth was waiting at the reception to drag the fae in. Willing or unwilling.

God moder
Welcome to the second power seeking arpee! ... metaplot doesn't count.

Basically, this is just your every day arpee where your characters will be able to interact with others and develop as young fae. The difference is that you will be me running around dropping hints, and occasionally, god moding.

Yes. We hate it when that happens. But as of yet I haven't discovered how to give your fae powers otherwise. Everything up until that crucial moment will be up to you. I can hint around, blatantly tell you what to do-- but it is up to you.

Hence, powers can change. A child I wish to give the gift of foresight might instead find themselves able to shapeshift, or whatever. It's flexible, lucid. The only set requirement is that no two fae will hold the same power. Except for maybe with tutors. But that's different.

So, how do we start this off? First of all, an order will be assigned. Yes, a posting order! I will interrupt whenever I want to, so continue as you will!

Very well then... have fun
!

Alice clung to the letter.
The parchment was all but crumpled to pieces in the child's hands - a sad shadow of what it had been this morning. For that WAS where it had begun, hadn't it?

Elizabeth had about had a cow when she'd seen it. The night before they had stayed up (practically all of the evening) trying to navigate thier way successfully through a mystery on Paper Mario. The mail had been ignored. Popcorn was had and soda was drank. All said - a good time was had by both.

Until the letter was found.

"Christ!" Her eyes widened. Frazzled and without even a shower yet, the mother had dragged her child helter-skelter through a morning routine until at least one of them looked worthwhile to present to whomever might have been responsible for the letter.

Now there she was. Elizabeth had gone off on her own for a moment to purchase a cappachino from a nearby coffee shop, for a rare instance leaving Alice quite on her own to stare at the massive structure from below it's towering passage.

Chilly as the day was, she was dressed rather well for it. A clean suade dress, lined inside with faux furr to allow warmth and comfort to surpass all fashionable limitations. Not that it wasn't. Elizabeth always made sure her beloved daughter looked like the princess she so loved to save in the realm of the video-game-world they both enjoyed.

It opened slightly at the front to reveal white cashmere underneath the initial dress, setting apart a lighter outfit in case the heat became too great and they had need to change suddenly.

Either way - nomatter how nicely she was dressed, her stomach was knotting in anxiousness for what lie ahead. Alice glanced around nervously. Her mother had still yet to return...

But what if...what if she led this time? The thought was a tempting one, for often she followed in the shadows rather than taking her own stance.

Now was a chance to change that though...Now...She approached the door. A tiny slip of a little girl, peering inside through the glass panes. It seemed quiet enough. A little more strength applied and the door swung open, neatly as one would please.

Thus being the case, Alice took hold of her resolve and wandered in. Letter in hand. Head held high...she approached the receptionist's desk and bobbed a curtsey.

"Good Morning. I came for letter?"

Both Varian and Aletea had been curious about what this letter wanted them there for, so there hadn't been any arguments on either side.

Except for one little thing...

Varian was missing dance practice to be here. And amusingly enough, he was angrier about it then his guardian was - in fact, she'd even had to keep him from calling up Shy and ordering him to change the time. He didn't seem to understand that everyone wasn't going to adjust their schedules to match his.

So the little blonde marched in a pace ahead of his guardian, a grumpy expression on his face. The sulky boy didn't say a word, merely crossing his arms and fixing a glare on the receptionist, as if it was all her fault.

Aletea, on the other hand, smiled at the receptionist, "Sorry for him, he's upset because he's missing a dance practice...anyway, we recieved a letter?"

Both the twins had recieved the same letter, and were here at their own accord. Without knowledge or consent of neither Cheetah, nor Jerod. It was a risky business, sneaking out like this, but they had a feeling that this is what was supposed to be done. Even for children as young as they were, They were incredibly in-tune to each other. As twins usually are.

Tybalt and Romeo walked into the labs at the same time, looking around to see if there was anyone else there.

"Here for a letter...."

They both said simultaneously.

"Just what had I... done in my last life... to ... deserve this?!" injecting the question with a few choice curses from an unlimited vocabulary, Beth scowled at the screen as she tried to figure out HOW Shy expected her to be in three places at once.

Stupid, insufferable man.

The first girl and her quiet words garnered no attention from the receptionist. Someone so quiet and civilized was always put at the back burner- second to a list of mounting priorities. The second recieved a look, if only an annoyed 'can't you see I'm busy here?!' look, and the third... well.

"Twins?"

Beth sighed. She should have called in sick. Or better yet, accepted that position at the law firm. Anything was better than this.

"Alright. Come on, follow me. We don't have much time. Stick close. Go missing and I'll tell your tutors on you and suspend your meetings for an entire month."

Or something. She wasn't thinking coherently enough to work out a logical thread. "Don't touch anything either. A bunch of tourists are coming in from both courts to check the lab out, talk about some kind of exchange program... or something. So you can imagine who Shy gave all the work too.
And Shy isn't here either. Stupid man. He loves his little trips. I think he's visiting Raven right now, trying to convince her that all you lot aren't her slaves... yet. And your tutors are here somewhere. They'll come down and see you soon too."

Wow. She was feeling talkative today.

"Now go into the room on the left. Third door, the one with the pink trimmings. I can't go past this step, because of the human blood. Ma'am, you'll have to stay with me. It's for their own safety, really."

She cast a look over the group. Four. Yep. So no one was late, thankfully.

"And if anything bad happens." she said. "I warned you not to touch anything."

Quote:
The environment Because everything needs to happen someplace.

The room that opens up from the door is large and somewhat musty. As if someone forgot to clean for a couple of... decades. With stone walls and tapestries littering the ground, it's round in shape, except... well, the diameter of the room is such that if you stand against the wall, it actually looks straight. The room is full of odd nicknacks, from another time period, really. Things to interest a damsel in distress, a boy obssessed with beauty, and twins who would leave their guardians for a little adventure.

Everything is reachable... heightwise. A gleaming coat of armor, chests with rusted locks and ... masks. Venetian masks from a time before filled with memores and half stolen kisses.

What will they look at first?

Varian offered barely even a single glance to the others as they walked to the door, still sulking over missing his dance practice. But when the door was opened, all of his anger at missing it disappeared.

As he stepped into the room, his eyes were wide and intereested. And once he caught some of particular objects, they were all he focused on. The masks. He didn't understand why, but something about them...well, they certainly had his interest.

He stepped to the masks, examining each one with a critical eye. The vain blonde's intention was to find the prettiest one, of course.

Alice bobbed a sweet farewell to the women. A placid smile played upon her sweet visage, and she even made so to wave fondly at them before quietly slipping away into a chamber they could not follow.

What wonders it held! Like a dragon hatched into a massive hoard of splendor, she simply spun very slowly so that she could take it all in before settling back into a sort of lapse. Such pretty things...she wondered if they might really get punnished if they were to truly touch one of the glorious objects that tempted a child's hand as she drew near to the shelves.

Inevitably she decided it best to acquaint herself with her comrades before daring to venture towards the objects she had fallen into such great desire for. The beautiful stranger would be her new friend...of sorts.

She slipped up behind him, noting his fascination with the masks, and began in low, soothing tones of long ago and far away. "They're beautiful..aren't they?"

At one of the other children slipping up to him, Varian fixed calculating eyes on her. He'd gotten into the habit of assessing a person's first impression to decide whether or not they were worth spending any time on - though he still didn't like anyone. He only 'liked' someone until they bored him.

After a moment, he allowed a smug smirk to slide onto his face. Why smug, you ask? Only Varian would know the answer to that one. He's always smug.

"They certainly are. Worth missing practice for, even."

The fact that they weren't supposed to touch them barely even crossed his mind. This little fae didn't follow orders, and he liked the masks. When he found one he liked, he intended to immediately examine it more closely - perhaps even take it home with him.

Well. If he could sneak it out, he would. Then, realizing he had yet to introduce himself, he bowed his head to the girl briefly, introducing himself, "Varian."

Romeo immediately zoomed in on one of the chests, eyes wide. He poked around it a bit, and figured out that the lock had rusted tight. With a grumble, he searched for something to break the lock, shrugged, and decided to use his own hands - tugging and pulling as hard as he could.

Tybalt, however, was fascinated by the armor. That soon faded into the masks... which soon became the very chest his brother was interested in. He started to try and help open it - even if it was hard work, gritting his teeth, and tugging hard.

When Alice spoke, Varian decided then that she was not one who would help him sneak it out. A hasty assumption, perhaps, but he had not yet learned the subtlty that other people had - his vanity and arrogance causing him to not look too deeply at others.

Though he couldn't deny that her compliment pleased him. A beauitful creature - that he certainly was. He hardly needed others reassurances of the fact, but it did please him to know that others recognized his beauty.

He fixed his eyes upon the mask then, and felt himself agree with Alice's assessment. It looked - to the eyes of one such as himself, who devoured beauty and art with a hungry eye - perfect. He had not planned on heeding the warnings to not touch anything, and upon seeing this one, he threw caution to the wind.

Reaching out, he traced his fingers along the outline of the mask, his expression one of pure fascination.

(( Since no one else has posted, I dunno whose turn it is -_- ))

Romeo back off from the chest with a shake of his head. It didn't look like it was going to budge, unfortunately. BUT - it was looking like this particular item wasn't exactly what he wanted to peruse. And the woman HAD said not to touch... He glanced around, and happened on another object in the back of the room. Head tilted, he moved towards it, while his brother seemed very much interested in one of the black cat-masks on the wall. Neither of them touched this time - only looked.

Romeo's eyes went wide as Alice made her claim. He sprinted over to her, and tried to wrest the loom from her hands, panicky.

"Alice! Don't! You're not supposed to pick up anything!"

He called loudly as he did so.

Tybalt barreled into his brother, and pounced him, holding him down, and grinning up at Alice.

"Don't mind my brother. That's a cool-looking thing you got there."

Varian peered at the others with what could only be a scornful expression, mainly fixing his gaze on Romeo. Grown-ups made up stuff all the time to keep kids from bothering them - this arrogant little fae didn't see why this wasn't one of those times. All the same, he supposed he could see how some people might not realize that.

So he called over to Romeo, the helpfulness of his words somehow canceled out by the mocking tone, "Adults always make things up, it's fine."

Then, he picked up the mask he had decided he liked so much, and after examing it more closely for several moments, placed it on his face to see how it fit.
