It honestly sucked this year...because I'm a freshman and they don't get to do anything unless they're in w/ the seniors. But I had the most (little) supporting roles in Beauty and the Beast, so I didn't feel too bad. Hopefully I'll be able to compete next year 3nodding

We did "The Last Night of Ballyhoo." I was a techie, and everyone said they were going to see it, and no one did. After the stunning success of our musical and One-Acts, about 125 people saw it over the course of three nights. One of my friends and I were talking and she was like, "Ballyhoo? I think that's the only one this year I didn't see."
and I was like, "No one saw ballyhoo."

Our One Act won state! We did "The Marriage of Bette and Boo" and it was amazing. I was asked to do lights for it but, unfortunetly, I had an orchestra ski trip schedualed for the same weekend as area compitetion (I'm still bitter...) but I was so proud of everyone!

But my school's kinda reknown for having a really good theatre program =]

Our year, as much as I would probably be willing to say it was just ok in any other year, will say it was amazing simply because I'm a senior and graduating, leaving that lovely place.

Our season started with Tell Me on a Sunday, which was our Thespian President's senior project, it wasn't very good, but hey, it won districts. Utterly failed at states though. Oh well, our troupe can't be the state's theatrical pride every year. mrgreen I love to brag.

The best plays of the year included Harvey, Ten Little Indians (which I was in!), Fiddler on the Roof (the big big musical), Barefoot in the Park (always the Neil Simon....), The Fabulous Fable Factory and the year's best play (cause it had puppets), Little Shop of Horrors (in which I rocked the box office)

There were others, I just can't remember them right now. These were the shining stars of the year, anyway. We still won't know the next year's plays until Monday. I can't wait.

The highlight of our year was definitely Once on This Island, which was a blast to do. And it was also, thankfully, the last show we ever do in our famed Gymatorium. x_x Next year we're moving into a new building, one with an actual auditorium.

Next year we're going to be doing Smile!, Carousel, The Complete Works of Shakespeare: Abridged, and some other odd play...can't remember the name right now. :/ And over the summer we're going to do a community-wide production of Annie...

High School Theatre in our area rocks. We are a part of a nationwide system called the Cappies - Critics and Awards Programme. Each High School that participates sends 6 or more critics to the Ottawa Citizen (main newspaper here) to learn how to write a proper theatre review.

13 schools participated.. so there were around 80 critics in the programme. They were assigned shows to see, review them, then submit those reviews to the Citizen. If the editor liked them, they'd be published in the newspaper. Each show got a full page spread (sometimes more) with lots of color pictures.

At the end of the year, we had a Gala, which was much like the Tony awards. Actors, tech, and orchestra were nominated in elegable catagories, and the critics voted on who was best. Our school did Grease, and were nominated for 6 'Cappies', and won 2. We were pumped. Check out some photos if you want. 4laugh

The highschool I'm going to next year does 3 plays and a musical every year

So if I audition for all of them, then hopefully by the time I leave highschool I'll have plenty of experience under my belt

The sad thing about doing theater for me is that my first kiss was a stage kiss when I did A Midsummer Night's Dream (played Hermia) : (
