Obie walked up the steps to the dorm as the sun sank lower into the horizon and bathed the world in a warm glow. She could care less. The nerve of Nato coming after her after saying those harsh truths. Blindly she walked into the dorm and paused trying to think of where to go next. She started towards her room, but paused at a different door. Staring at it for a moment, she raised her hand and knocked on it gently.

Ra had been lounging around in front of the TV all morning. Not because he didn't have homework to do ... because he had loads. But because Japanese cartoons on crack were so much more interesting. Hearing the knock he got up off the sofa and answered the door. "Hey Obie." He said, rather suprised to see her. "Is everything all right?"

Obie looked away when Ra appeared from behind the closed door. It had only been yesterday when he had offered her his friendship, and already she was here to take advantage of it. Slowly she made herself look up at him.
"I... uh... was wondering if maybe I could stay here... for the night," she said softly. She glanced down the hall nervously to see if Nato was coming then looked back up to Ra with uncharacteristic hope in her blue eyes.

"Come in." Ra said stepping away from the door. He was rather confused by the desperate look in her eyes. Shutting the door he gestured over to the sofa for her to sit. She'd mentioned something about her roommate the day before.
Running his hands through his hair he hovered a bit not really sure what to say. "Do you ... er need to talk, or would you prefer no questions?" He asked sitting down on the sofa. "

Obie moved inside at his invitation and sat down on the sofa, smoothing her skirt uneccessarily. Did she want to talk about it? She wasn't sure. She didn't want him to think poorly of her. Her situation wasn't one to flaunt around lightly. She opted for the truth to his question.
"I'm... not sure," she said with a shrug and slipped some hair behind her ear. She really need to think everything through. She hadn't had a chance to do that yet. But she really wasn't sure if she should dump her problems on Ra. Not when he had problems of his own.

Ra gave her a smile and flicked through the Tv channels. "Well, if you decide yes you can tell me anything you want." He said getting comfortable and watching some bizzare anime he couldn't understand. "Would you like some food or drink or anything?"

The thought of food turned her stomach and she swallowed back a wave of nausea. She gave him a weak smile.
"Do you have any juice?" she asked, looking down as she absently began to rub the only ring she had on her hands.

"Yeah." He said giving her a bit of a concerned glance and going to the kitchen. Strange, yesterday they barely knew each other and now she was knocking on his door for refuge. It just seemed ... odd.
In the kitchen he got some juice out of the fridge and poured them a glass each. Returning to the room he handed her one of the glasses and sat back down to watch the cartoon.

Obie took the glass from Ra and took a sip as she stared blankly at the flashy animation on the screen. Her mind was spinning out of control and she hated that. She needed control. It was the only thing that could bring her peace in the world around her.
"You're brave," she said suddenly, and dropped her eyes down into her glass. She let her words hang on the air for a moment, before taking another sip and continuing. "I admire that in you. Despite everything you told me yesterday, you still welcome people with open arms even though they could possibly demand you to be a new person as well. I won't even give people that chance. Or at least I try not to, because when I do... it blows up in my face," she said softly, absently tilting her glass back and forth to watch the liquid inside slosh around.

Ra listened to her and smiled a little. "I'm not brave." He said resting the glass on his knee and sitting forward a little. "I just know the importance of having friends. I think the risk is a small one. I love the people who want me to change very much. They help me through bad times and I help them. Just ... when things build up we only see the negative."
He looked at her and smiled again. "Saying that, I have been hurt by people I thought were my friends. A lot. But I believe everyone is different. Just because one person hurts me doesn't mean I should shut myself off to the world."
He shrugged and took a sip of drink. "What happened?" He asked glancing sideways at her.

Obie listened to him. She understood what he meant. But she had never allowed herself to be like that. She had found it so much easier to shut herself off. Because then she never had problems like the ones she faced right now. At his question, she leaned forward to set the glass down on the table in front of her, then sat back and hugged her arms tightly around herself.
"Have you ever just had one tiny thing change your entire life in the blink of an eye?" she asked, turning her head towards him.

"Not really." He said shrugging. "I mean I've had things change in the blink of an eye, but you can hardly call earthquakes little." He gave her a small smirk.
He watched her defensive position with concern, taking a sip of juice and picking the control up to press mute.

In the sudden silence that filled the room, Obie could feel her heart starting to beat rapidly and was certain that that was the only noise left in the room. She took a deep breath. She wasn't going to cry. She had cried enough for today.
"I want to tell you.... but you're going to think such horrible thoughts about me," she said, a tear rolling down her cheek.

Ra looked up at her and shook his head. "Obie, you would have to do a hell of a lot to make me think bad things about you." He said gently, watching her try to fight the tears.

"It's just that... I've been in that room all alone for so long, and... I've never really even tried to make friends here. I got really lonely and felt so shut off from the world that..." she trailed off for a moment, then nearly started over.
"Thanatos just... he made me feel alive again, and... well.. It just sort of happened really fast. I ended up sleeping with him and we... forgot to use protection. Now... I might be..." she stopped again. She just couldn't say the word again. She wasn't ready for it.
