I'm confused, really confused. Who are you, more importantly who am I? How do I know that you exist, how do I know that gaia exists, and how do I know that I exist? How do I know that my dreams, if they exist, aren't reality and that reality, if it exists, isn't just a dream. Maybe I'm just dreaming all of this now, maybe not. How do I know that this earth exists? If you exist are you capable of answering these questions, and how do I know that I'm, if I exist, not just dreaming, if dreams exist, your responce? Perhaps it's just that life's confusing, yes that must be it. But then how do we know that life around us exists if we can't even guarantee our existance? Are you confused too/yet? (If you exist that is...) Do feel free to respond to this, if this exists. And I'll read what you write, that is if you exist, so I'll read what I, if I exist, imagine what you write.

I had a feeling this topic would come up sooner or later. 3nodding
It's a fairly good question, but I don't really see why we should worry about something like this.
"We don't exist" scenario: If we don't exist, what's the point in worrying about existence anyway? We don't exist!
"We do exist" scenario: What's the point in wasting our time worrying about existence? We have a life to live, so we better not waste it!
Either way, the best thing to do would be to live life. 3nodding

(chuckles) (points up) Yeah, that's around the equivalent of what I was going to say when I saw this topic. I stopped bothering to ask that question years ago, as there really is no point in asking it. It's good to question, but it's pretty much nonsensical to question literally EVERYTHING. The human mind can't dwell in a realm of absolute subjecticism, so why bother trying?

Everyone has heard: "I think, therefore I am."
If you are thinking and wondering whether or not you exist, then you must exist.

Alezunde Everyone has heard: "I think, therefore I am." Exactly the quote I was going to post. I think most philosophers agree that solipsism is a fallacious view.

Thanks, I believe that I shall now, or at least for the time-being, quit worrying if I exist or not.

I'm quite positive that we exist. I only have two questions about our existence: how? and why?

It dawned on me the other night, I exist. I can't prove it or anything but I was up in bed and at 1 am it just dawned upon me, we all exist, me, you, all of us. It was a truly wonderful feeling to know that we all existed.

I don't know about you but I think therefor I am. As for everyone else, for all I know they could be my imagination but since it's easier to live with I choose to think of them as seperate from me.

Yes, for me at least, just living life and seeing how it comes and goes seems like a good enough plan.

I think, therefore I am... sometimes. We exist to exist. We exist so that others may exist, whether it be in memory or in the physical sense. To exist, and to feel. To feel what, though, in a world of pain? The idea of existing can, and should be, for our purposes, objective. If you think you exist, well, you exist. We can choose what exists and what doesn't, to an extent. We sure as heck can deny the existence of a God, we sure can deny the existence of punk music, etc. But these are all objective examples. We have Christians/Semitics(sp)/etc., and we have the screaming throngs of fans to prove their existence. Gaia exists, because I sit in my family room typing this message. My computer exists for that reason and more. I exist for my computer (XD). I could go on and on about who or what exists for who and why and whatnot. But, then, it'd be like singing a neverending "Farmer in the Dell". So, we exist to exist, so that other things may exist. And so we exist to prove that everything else in this world exists, and thus we live life in chaos, but one that exists, as we do. -Pmiazyo

Actually, we do exist. "Existence" is a term coined for things that we can sense in this world. Even if this world is just a dream, or a figment of your or someone else's imagination, it still exists. Tell me, if this entire world was simply my dream, something I created, would it change anything? It would have always been my dream, and nothing more.
The term "existence" is something that is always be applied to you or anything in this world.
