This thread shall now be the permanent place to post applications up for Staff member positions. From time-to-time, we find that we may be in need of more Staff, so this is the place to post if you think you can hack it!

We are currently looking for one new permanent Crew member and one possible temporary or on-call Crew member to fill in when other perma Crew are indisposed. If we accept your application, we will PM you to ask if you're watning the perma or temp position.
Crew Member (specific duty details) - This includes various duties that MUST be performed on a regular basis!
- Modding the Main Forum of the guild and all its Subforums
Participating regularly in Staff discussions
Checking the Join Request queue
Dealing with uppity/disgruntled members
PMing members
Partaking in guild activities
Maintaining certain threads/Announcements/Stickes if you are assigned any
Being able to be here and check on the guild REGULARLY. An hour or so a day (or as reasonably often as possible isn't asking much). If you dont' think you can spare that, then don't sign up! We take being an active Crew member very seriously.
This is just a SHORT list of Crew responsibilities. So be prepared for more if you are selected!

Now to discuss what I am looking for in experience for these positions. Here is my criteria:
GPG Staff Criteria
Need to be a very active member.
I want someone who posts and reads things here regularly. That doesn't neccessarily mean every single day, but often enough to keep up with what's going on. And just as a note, "active" doesn't juuust refer to those who post everyday. It can also mean those who actively lurk. But be aware! Active lurkers are expected to post and keep up with Staff discussions regardless AND help out with the modding of the guild in whatever capacity we may need at the time.
Need to have been in this guild for a while.
I want an "oldbie" because that shows they're willing to stick around for a while. Plus they have more experience with how the guild works and what's ok, and what's not ok. You do not need to have been a GPGer since before we moved, but I do want someone who has been a member for a while. Someone familiar with our rules!
Need to have a good understanding of the "flow" of the guild.
I want someone who s familiar with how the guild works and how things usually go.
Need to be pretty familiar with our members.
I need someone who is familiar enough with our members that they can be helpful in specific situations involving members at any given time. You need not know every single member, but just have a good grasp of them.
Need to be fair.
No big egos or biased opinions. I want someone who can be objectional and level-headed when it comes to handling guild-issues and guild-business.
Prior modding or other Crew experience is a plus, but not neccessary.
Prior experience is always a plus, but not neccessary. If you have Modded or Admined on other boards, or have been a Crew or Captain of other Gaia guilds, then you have experience.
Need to be able to control the urge to "power trip."
With power comes responsibility. So no editing people's posts to say something stupid. No deleting posts/threads just because you don't like them... etc. Be fair, level-headed and non-judgemental. Save your egos and power trips for LJ or something. All Crew activity (such a deleting posts and moving topics) *is* logged and I do check it!
Need to be willing to take on any extra duties as needed.
At any given time, I may need to assign duties. There may be a guild event or something. Anyway, you must be willing to accept assignments or other duties, and be able to carry them out satisfactorily.
Need to be dedicated to this guild.
You need to care about this guild and want to help run it and improve it.
Need to be available.
If you think you would otherwise make a great Crew member, but have no free-time/extra-time, then you shouldn't be a Crew member. I need someone who will actually be available to perform Crew duties. So if you're busy with a super involved quest or shop or anything that you KNOW will become a hinderance to your ability to be a Crew member, then do not apply.
Need to be mature!
Being that this is a parenting guild, we deal with VERY serious and VERY real life issues on a regular basis. I want someone who is mature enough to handle these types of things.
Need decent typing/spelling/grammar skills.
You do not need to be perfect, but I want to be able to clearly understand what you're typing. So no net-speak or "leet" speak. Occasional typos are fine and dandy, and expected. Just put forth an effort in your posts by checking for typos and punctuation errors before you post it!
Need to be familiar with and abide by all guild rules!
This is a no-brainer, but VERY important. This means you have read the ENTIRE "Rules" sticky, understand it, accept it, and abide by it. Period.
