My mom picked me up from a "date." It wasn't really a date because we're not officially going out yet, but it might as well have been. Anyway.

My mom, kinda out of nowhere, asks me how I can have a different sexuality. She's talking about how it's abnormal and all this other stuff and how she'll never understand me or my brother because it's so strange, and all this other stuff. "I wish you could go with a guy," she says. One time, a long time ago, she said, "why couldn't I just have normal children?!" She talks about it as if she thinks it's absolutely disgusting. But she never mentioned sacrilege before.

Then today, she was like, "When god created man, and man was lonely, he didn't create another man to keep him company. He created woman."

Touchee... but I'm Agnostic. So that didn't really fly with me.

It really hurts that she has so much trouble accepting me, and I wish she wouldn't bring it up. Fortunately, after I countered with my comment about my being agnostic, she promptly changed the subject.

It's times like this I don't want to talk to my mother. I don't want anything to do with her when she talks like that. I mean, it's not her choice. It's mine. She's not the one who has to go out with that person, you know?

I see I'm ranting. I'll stop.

But don't you feel this way? And why do they have to bring religion into the picture... especially when they know you don't care WHAT God did or said?

33% of the world claims christianity as their religion. Of that, 40% of american christians attend church regularily. There are 33,830 Christian denominations listed at adherents.com. AND not all christians are anti-gay.

So, religion means shite all except a way for her to get things to go her way. Ignore it. Or else, tell her that her beliefs mean shite all to you.

I support same sex relationships without question... I t does bother me when people bring religion into it... I am a Christian first and formost, beyond anything else... I get extremely angry when people bash the bible and I get just as angry when the use it for negative purposes... Yes, it is looked down upon ion the OLD testament... However, in the new testament, it is hardly mentioned at all... People normally quote the old testament because it is balls-to-the-wall hard cold facts... However, the old testament should only serve as a background to the new testamnet, which is the last will and testaments of Jesus... You have to read the old testament to understand the new testament... The new testament, however, is what should be heeded and followed... I am sorry your mother threw that up in your face and I am sorry so many people use the bible as a negative catalist but please do not automatically assume that all Christains are like this... I would support same sex marriages with my final breath and still be the active Christian that I strive to be...

1 Corinthians 6:8-10 could be interpreted as referring to homosexuals, depending on translation.

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." (Matthew 5:17 KJV) How do you interpret this passage?

I'm reading 1 Corinthians 6:8-10 in the New International Version (which is starting to replace the King James Version [GRRR!! >.< It's better when it isn't so literal!!])...

"Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor theives nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

That's why I dislike the NIV... I'm actually largely involved at church and I'm homosexual. Almost every week though, someone mentions the "mortal sin" of homosexuality. Of the demons that try to convince you it's okay. So I cry and I live a double life. The school knows, so some of the group knows, my family knows, even complete strangers around town know. But the adults at my church do not. At the moment I sit with church paperwork in front of me. I'm that commited. But... it doesn't seem to matter to them. And I wonder sometimes if it matters to God that I try to help.

...Hmm...

Yes, its true that alot of people bring religon into the subject, but I'm sorry I can't explain a whole lot about that concerding that I'm not very deep in anyone religon. Even though I am Christan, though, I hardly agree with it.

But this is what I can explain, though it might not be the same case with your mother. But, here it goes.

Alot of, well 'Homophobas' are around and things, simplely because they are un-informed about the subject. So there scared of things that they don't understand is what it is in alot of cases, not all of them, but alot. Though, thats why we have GSA's, like here. Its to not only help LGBT kids with problems there having, but its also to make the world a better place for everyone and raise the awarness of of LGBT problems that people face, as well to inform people.

I'm not sure if that really helped. But I hope it did some.

Whenever people bring up religion, I always think "Well, it's not like G/L/B/Ts aren't religious too." Using religion as an arguement really annoys me. Jeez, I dunno who was who first took up the Bible and used it as a reason against G/L/B/Ts...

Then again, I'm not religious and not really curious to learn.

I'm sorry that you have it like that. I am only out (as Bi) to my dad (he's agnostic). My direct family would probably be okay with it, but grandparents and others would freak, they are all LDS (Mormon).

People only screw themselves over further when bringing God and religion into the picture.

"It's a sin against God for a man to love another man sexually."

Well pardon me for not believing in this so-called "God", being Pagan and all, but the beliefs of others when it comes to ones sexuality are like throwing in that extra drop of salt into the ocean, it could matter less. Not everyone believes in God, so why should the beliefs of Catholics, and Jews, and Muslims and such be an influence on the personal lives of those who aren't associated with those religions and belief systems.

I'm apathetic agnostic and I have a few Wiccan friends, and a Satanist here or there. They're the nicest people I've ever known, much nicer than some Jehovah's witnesses I had to sare away once.[I dont like being targeted by recruiters of a religion].

Anyone that tries to use religion as an excuse to infring upon what I or someone else does or says can just take a glass rod up their urethra with a baseball bat following at a high velocity.

And about people saying "God hates [insert group here]": The bible was translated from Aramaec[sp?] to Latin to English, and an old english Dialect at the. Something was DEFINATILY lost in translation, so you can't be complwtely sure of what any part of the bible has to say, or any other religious texts, for the original meaning was lost.

I totally agree, myself being a Wiccan, not everyone has the same religious beliefs and not all religions consider homosexuality wrong. Good words Maro. People can be christians if they want to, I hav no problem with them, just so long as they don't try to cram what they believe in down my throat (I'm sorry if I've offended anyone here who is christian, please forgive).

My mom hasnt ever dropped anything on religion yet. She doesn't not know that Im lesbian I dont think (shifty eyes), but she confuses me. She once told me that gay people were ok and that she had nothing wrong with them. Then she turns around and says that gay marriage is wrong and makes fun of some gay men sueing each other on those court tv shows. sweatdrop

But, I do believe in God to a certain extent, as well as other religions. Im very open to all kinds of religions. Hopefully I'll be looking into some Satanistic veiws sometime in another guild I go to.

And in closing, We are who we are. No more; no less. And we shouldn't let people get us down and try to change us.
