The day was here, the time had arrived...an hour past, in fact. Really, one couldn't blame him for talking some of the phone numbers of of Jan, calling...most off the guests to an invite them for an hour earlier than he had told the girl. People arrive late by nature, and the beginning of a party was always dull. Not to mention it would be much easier for him to get to know some of his 'visitors' without Jan hanging around.
He loved his 'sister' dearly, he did. How better to show than turn the night into a late birthday party for her? Presents for them both, and a valid excuse for her not to be mad at him when she arrived after everyone else.
The apartment had been fixed up a good bit simply because Lyrus had moved in, but in preparation for the party he had gone all out--including, with funds from who knew where, buying a massive stereo, various lights, etc and so forth. Food and drink had been supplied by the bar as a 'birthday gift', and quite a few of the guests were well on their way to lovely hangovers, which was exactly what Lyrus had intended. Drunks made parties that much more fun.
The lamb Sin'aeis had made himself at home amid a small group of guests, a drink of his own in one hand as he flirted mercilessly over the music. ...Jani knew where he lived. She could let herself in.

Jan wasn't upset, although she could hear all the loud voices of the party guests from outside the front door. It was dark now, and she was actually later than the hour Lyrus had planned on. The blonde had rode the subway, and then had stopped on her way to chat with a few people, three of the young women had decided to come along with Sjajan and meet her 'older brother.'
As she led them upstairs, to Lyrus' apartment, she opened the door without knocking, leading them to the area most of the people seemed to be hanging about, and quickly spotted the other Sin'Aeis.
"Lyrus."
Her voice was a unique one, and she counted on him paying attention to it, as she wasn't the tallest girl in the room for once. She was -as- tall as some of the shorter women, but otherwise? She'd easily be lost in a crowd.
She stopped in front of him, being polietly quiet as he finished his conversation, before pointing to the three women behind her, and introducing them.
"Ashley, Breanne, and Julie."

The girl's voice did indeed catch Lyrus's attention, but he spared her only a quick glance--just enough to assure her he would be with her shortly--before turning his attention back to his guests. Finally excusing himself from the group, he slipped free to meet Jani and her trio.
He grinned in greeting, granting each woman a nod of welcome and downing a sip of his drink before speaking. "My pleasure, I'm sure. Please, make yourselves at home. S'about time you showed up," he added, this time addressing Jan. "Glad you could make it. Have you seen your presents yet?"

"... Presen's?"
Jan's usually half-closed brown eyes widened momentarily and she shook her head slowly, before frowning slightly and appearing puzzled.
"... I di'nt know ther'were s'pos'd ta be some... Whyfore? S'mighty nice o' them."
The three women seemed to find Lyrus quite '******** hot' as one told him before slipping away into the growing crowd. There were quite a few people here, and Jan was actually sort of uncomfortable.
"'Ow'er ya, Lyrus?"

Lyrus quietly assured the three women he would hunt them down after he caught up with his sister...grin only slightly predatory as he watched them slip off through the crowd.
"Why, it's your late birthday party, Jan," he exclaimed, gesturing out over the crowd with the hand holding his drink. Smirking faintly, he lowered his hand to take another long sip. "Everyone here is here for you, sweetheart."
Nodding as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, he glanced fondly around the room at his guests...most of whom looked to have in mind anything but a child's birthday party. "Doing quite well, actually. And you?"

"Good I 'spose..."
She frowned slightly, not a stupid girl, and she knew that it was sweet of him to make this a party, but that wasn't what everyone was here for. Not with the way those women's eyes were hovering on her 'big brother,' not the way some of them were looking at HER.
"'S'in yer cup? Kin I 'ave some?"

Lyrus, at this point, could have cared less whether Jan believed him or not. The party was a rousing success thus far. He was very much enjoying many of the looks he was receiving--and returning, for that matter--, though some of the stares towards Jan did bother him a tad. Despite how old she looked, she was still a child, and those looks were not meant for children.
"Hmm? Ah, some shitty cheap beer. Not the greatest stuff on earth, but after the second glass, you stop caring." He peered down into the cup, then, grinning, offered it to her. "Have at it. Just don't tell your mum."

"Oh, jes' beer?"
Hell, Jan had MADE some with a family member before. After all, it was made organicly in places, and she didn't mind it. Still, that would be higher quality than this... Taking the cup, the blonde downed the swill, then blinked several times, before making a 'yuck' face at Lyrus, her tongue sticking out.
"Tha's NASTY. 'N I won' tell Indu, she's a recoverin' alcoholic, so she'd be migh'y upset."

"Yeah, nothin' special." Lyrus snickered at the expression, reaching over and snatching a second cup from a passing woman. By the time she noticed her cup was missing, she was half way across the room and accusing another man of stealing it. Lyrus, meanwhile, downed another long sip, making a bit of a face as well, though he seemed pleased.
"Horrible, isn't it? But I don't trust mixed drinks from the barkeep, and since he's supplying for free, he brought the s**t stuff. Just chug a couple of glasses. It'll start tasting good."

"... Mmmn."
Jani impudently took the cup Lyrus had stolen from his hand and finished it, not feeling the effects at all. Maybe she needed to burp, but that was about it. Another one of these, and a few minutes, and she'd probably start to feel it, and not care about flavor.
"Yer righ'. Tastes beh'er."
Drifting away from Lyrus, she moved over to where a man was lording over the keg, and after talking with a few of the people there, had another plastic cup of beer in hand as she walked back to her 'friend'.
"... S'this what ya DO?"
With his life, she meant.

He seemed a bit miffed by the theft of his own stolen drink, but he let it slide because it was Jan. She was sure to make an amusing drunk. While the girl was off finding herself another cup, Lyrus deftly repeated his trick on another passerby, and was happily sipping from his cup when Jan returned.
"Do?" He raised a brow, glancing around the apartment. "Among other things. Usually bars, not parties, but same difference. An' then I run the shop downstairs, steal watches from rich pricks for a bit of extra cash, and sell my glass stuff so said p***k's wives for even more gold. Not what I plan to do forever, mind. But for now it's fun."

"Soun's kin'a borin', act'lly."
Jan smirked and shrugged, before taking another swallow. It really did. Drinking gross stuff with a bunch of weirdos, and running a shop, and stealing for gold buy gross stuff to drink with a bunch of weirdos... How tedious.
"Ev'r 'ang out with frien's or anythin?"
This was becoming an 'Ask Lyrus' session.

"Sounds like it, huh?" He chuckled dryly, glancing around the crowded room. "It could be. But it's fun. You meet some real interestin' people. And I've got a good bit saved up by now. Get myself a nice house, open a nicer shop...something with my glass, or jewelry, yanno?"
He sighed, smiling at the thought, then lifted his cup in a silent toast and downed the rest of his beer before replying. "Don't do much with the old gang anymore. I haven't seen Kilah in ages, though Mignon and I spoke briefly a couple weeks back. And Anisia, last I checked, was still your age." Such a pity. He would have to keep checking on that.
