Before we start, let me just tell you I am totally new to the BJD world gonk Anyway. I am sort of confused about faceups; if you get a default one, is it perminent or not? Because i hear people saying how they got it, and didn't really like it, so they took it off and re-did it.. I always thought they were painted on? Are they painted on permantanly? Or, is there some kind of special way to get it off? Or, is it like real makeup, where you can smudge it if you touch the doll's face?
Oh, and those eyelashes.. In Luts, do they come on the doll, with the makeup, or do you have to buy+attatch them yourself? Because I have no idea how to put eyelashes on a doll sweatdrop
I'm such a BJD n00b stressed Thanks if someone can help me out sweatdrop

Everybody has to start somewhere!
Anyway, no faceup is permanent. It can always be removed in some manner. Normally, a doll's head is first coated with something called Mr. Super Clear (or a like product), which is like a sealant. Then the faceup will be applied (people use chalk pastels, non-oil water colour pencils, acrylic paints. You can use just about anything that doesn't have oil in it) Then, depending on the company/whoever is doing the faceup may or may not coat the head again with Mr. Super Clear.
After that, you can either put the eyelashes on, or leave your doll without them.
Anyway, you can take the faceups off. I'm not exactly sure with what though. I've heard some people like to use acetone and then I've also heard horror stories of it.
Faceups most likely won't smudge, unless something loose, like smushed chalk pastels were used and the faceup wasn't sealed. Even then, it takes some work to smudge it. (because I'm currently blushing a doll with chalk pastels. XD It's really hard to smudge with kleenex and whatnot. I've found that only my fingers can smudge it.)
I believe that if you purchase eyelashes with your doll order, and you leave a note in your order comments, Luts will put them on for you. I might be wrong though.
Hopefully that helps. 4laugh

Sadly not everything is permanent, but it damn well took about 2 hours of scrubbing to getmy boys default makeup off. Companies make sure that s**t isn't going ANYWHERE anytime soon.
As far as I know you should be able to make small requests to luts if you want his makeup to be different, like saying a certain colour on the lips, different lashes, etc. Providing a picture to them works too. And the eyelashes should come on him already when he comes.

One girl sent in a picture of Avril Lavigne to Luts, and they did her Minifee Soo's makeup JUST like it. Her doll is really really cute, too!
I purchased a Hound through them and let them do their own thing with the makeup, and it was probably the best thing to do. He's got this gorgeous faceup. heart
As long as you purchase the eyelashes and make a note that you'd like them to put them on, it should be fine.

Luts is really hit or miss with their custom faceups. I've heard of people getting their done and absolutely loving it, then I've heard others who thought they got it all wrong. Thankfully they aren't that hard to remove, my friend removed her doll's eyebrows because she really didn't like them and she never complained about it being difficult.
Also when I got my El I just got the standard El with a faceup and he came with eyelashes on him already. When I bought my Elf Yder I didn't get a faceup so no eyelashes. I bought them seperate.
And finding white eyelashes in stock is a pain, lemme tell you. I'm hoping mine get here in time for my friend to put them on for me otherwise Leo will be without for a while. I've heard they're easy to put on but I am terrified of messing up my doll's faceup.

I think I'm going to get his lips a little lighter than in the default; I'm not too fond of the pink. Unless they don't come as pink as the preview. And black eyelashes. Totally black eyelashes.

That's weird. When I bought Deimos, I paid for a faceup and he didn't get eyelashes.
I'm almost kind of glad he didn't, but now I feel kinda cheated.

I'm not entirely sure, because I bught Costa sans face-up so she didn't come with anythign on her face or anything else except for the wig I ordered with her. She did, however come with her ears pierced. You can request Luts to pierce your doll's ears for free if you don't feel comfortable enough to do it yourself.

biggrin i might be wrong but i think the luts faceup comes in peach, pink, orange... they've got a list i think, but i'm not entirely sure if i've got my companies mixed up sweatdrop and the orange-y eyelashes that the el on the site has doesn't usually come with the doll. i haven't heard of anyone who has gotten a faceup who has gotten those kind (unless they've asked, of course)

You guys are so lucky. You all have big dolls. Toby's a pain to face-up. I've tried so much, but he keeps coming out like crap. I guess you guys have it a little easier 'cause your dolls' heads aren't the size of a golf ball. xp I so wanted Toby to have eyelashes. I bought him purple ones that match his hair. But they turned out to be Super Dollfie 'lashes and now I have these uber purple 'lashes lying around. crying
