This is for continued interaction between Windstar's Skittles and Vain and my Marks and Alex. It actually takes place in the shop (unless it moves o_O) but Jan's picky and finds this easier xd ;;

When Marks laughed, it wasn't a kind sound - something purely devilish and amused. "Poison's for the special people - 'sides, even if I had, I've got money saying Rob wouldn't have noticed," he smirked and shook his head.

Alex sighed a little and rested his chin on the other hand, "I meant the food," he corrected himself under his breath.

Relatives. Ew. Marks hadn't been and wasn't now on very good terms with family, mortal or otherwise. The latter was mostly his fault, admittedly. Apparently there were consequences for treachery. Hunh.

"Friends," he corrected blithely. "Or at least enemies you're friendly with."

Alex shook his head apologetically, "Vegetarian," he explained briefly. Well, for the most part. He just didn't really care for meat these days. Too much potential for remembering... blood.
PostPosted: Wed May 17, 2006 3:33 pm

"Vegetarian?" Skittled questioned. "You don't eat meat then like Niki'." The gypsy was the only one he knew who refused to eat meat. His nose wrinkled. "Doesn't it get a bit bland?"

Vain rubbed his temples. "You still remeber the gypsy?" He grumble bitterly. "Forget about him. He's not here and I doubt he is going to come here." Gypsy, he hated the vagabonds that walked the badlands.

"He eats fish," Marks pointed out, lounging into a seat at the table, "Just a picky eater, really."

Alex shrugged, "It's healthy," he said by way of explanation. That and... and he was still dealing with stuff. It'd all be okay, eventually. But vegetarian lifestyles were a good step to good health and... and if he didn't have to worry about his food bleeding everywhere, so much the better.

Marks' interests had turned from food to heritage at the mention of gypsies, however, "Frustrating bastards, aren't they? Can't trust 'em for a moment," he leaned further back into his chair with a lazy grin.

"Frustrating isn't half of it. They are the worse thing that happened to the waste." Vain shook his head. The gypsies and the Vangaurds where completive for what few recourse there was.

Skittles snorted. "Niki' was nice. He threw the stones for me for free. You just don't like humans that make their own way with out vampires help." He said bluntly.

Marks didn't have a lot of experience when it came to gypsies, just hearsay and stories from other Ravnos. But it was history, you know? Interesting s**t. Funny how it'd been reversed where he'd come from, where the Ravnos vampires had had to rely on gypsies to 'make their way'.

But gypsies were old now and they went around cheating tourists and living in shanties with cars held together by duct tape, not the pretty stories of wagons and dances from the old days. The world changed. He'd changed with it. "If it's a waste doesn't sound like there's much more you can do to it," he said, more of a question than a statement.

There was just so much different from where they'd come from. Back home vampires were predators in the darkness, from Skittles and Vain's perspective, they were simply the stronger race. Politics entered a whole new level.

Enh. Rainforests. Who needed 'em? The ecosystem, maybe, but a disinclined whatever in regards to that. "What'd the gypsies do, skip stones in the oases?" he asked, still unsure by what means vagabonds could make a wasteland any more of a hell than it already was. Besides, you know, eating other people's food. But you got that no matter where you went.

"They take up space, food, water, shelter," Skittles spoke. "They take what they need and leave what is left. I don't know their culture but..when your life is hanging by the threads of the oasis. I guess the Vangaurd feel since they place so much in conseriving what little water they find the gypsies ruin their work."

A snort came from Vain. "If they wish to drink the water and eat the food we guard and raise they should join the Vanguard." He wrinkled his nose. "No, they piss in the water."

Alex chewed on his tongue to keep from interjecting. He understood that people - these gypsies, specifically - could be a problem, but that was only because they were trying to solve their own problems. Of course, the chance for reconciliation between gypsies and the Vanguards seemed... slim, at best. But he knew little of their world and couldn't pretend to understand all the nuances of their culture. "Why won't they join the Vanguard, then?" he asked instead, curious to see what he could glean from the other side of the story.

Marks made a face at the last comment. Nothing more disgusting than humans, when you got down to it. Nasty little buggers. "You punish that with castration, right?"

Vain gave a deep chuckle. "If you can catch them, nasty buggers are very swift." He turned his eyes onto Alex. "They find vampirism in itself unnatural and extend that to all Vanguard. I do not like charlatans screeching at me because I'm part of the Vangaurd."

"They do not. Niki' didn't scream at me," Skittles said, crossing his arms and glaring at Vain. "He was polite."

"You met one gypsie Skittles, do not judge by Niki' he didn't even belong to a caravan. " Vain shook his head. "Nor will he, that kid has an attitude problem. For your information Skittles, he was sneering at any one who was clearly a vampire. The nightwalkers nearly castrated him from one too many insults before Asalind kicked him out. "

Skittles ears fell, tails drooping. "Sorry."

Alex refrained from mentinoing that... well... vampirism was unnatural in many respects. From a certain point of view. He'd never been able to really stomach the basics himself... And to be caught between life and death, denied the final affirmation of life in continued halfling existence... That certainly wasn't 'natural'. Supernatural, perhaps. A combination of words worth contemplating, come to think of it.

"Dog eat dog," he said eventually, "That's the way it was where you came from? Survival of the fittest and chase off those who can't?"

The kid looked like a kicked puppy. Ha. Bound to opinion. "What got your Nicky out of the caravan and among the other team's 'dogs', anyway?" Marks asked.

Vain sigh at Skittles, slipping from the counter and embraced the other to his chest. He set his head on the technocolor hair. "Basically, among those who lived in the waste most certainly." A shrugg was the only anwer he could give to Marks. "Who knows. He was nearly dead when we stumbled upon him."

Skittles snuggled deep against Vain, lifting his face to rest his head against the hard muscled shoulder, face burried against the other neck.

It was the closeness that made them sweet. To be able to take physical and emotional comfort and solace in one other person, that was... something to be sought after, treasured. And it plain tickled him to see it.

He knew it'd be silly to say anything on utopian ideals of mutual reliance - that only seemed possible in worlds where it was an option. As he'd thought before, the supernatural added a whole new level to the socio-political scale. Still, it was charity laced with poison to take in someone you scorned. "He... Niki'," Alex had always been rather better for languages and foreign words than Marks, "He wanted to stay with you, then, rather than return to his people?"

Thing was, he'd been about to ask the same thing. In a different way, of course. But...

Eezh. Too much time around the kid again. If there was one thing he was absolutely certain of - and he was pretty sure there was more than one... - it was that he was not going to let... not going to let anything get in the way of himself. However much sense that made. So Marks grunted a little and nodded, leaning back into his chair at the table.
