I know that a lot of you already RP in the main thread. Well, that's basically what this is. :3
It's not a big deal, but the RP doesn't really take place on the Isle de Soler or Lunis Isle, but at a generally nondescript location. If you want to RP specifically on either one of those islands, please head over to their Subforum.
This particular place, if you'd like the setting, is a pretty simple grassy plane randomly located somewhere on the islands. It's surrounded by tropical trees, and if you pass through those trees, there'll be the beach.
In the middle of the plane is one humble, wooden, two-room building that serves as the shop or as refuge when it actually rains on the island.
Please observe all rules posted in the announcement :3

Wrapping her fingers around the green key that hung around her neck on a silver chain, young Audrey O'Malley shook her short, choppily cut, crimson-dyed hair out of her gray eyes. The weather was warm, and there was just a slight, cool breeze. She had been drawn to this place, for some reason, ever since she had found the oddly shaped key...
{ Kinda weak, but I've never been the best at opening things up. ^^; }

"Welcome to Critter Haven!" a friendly voice called from behind her. Jayde, who had been working on a little garden outisde looked up to see the newcomer. Damen, beside her, took the opportunity to quit working.
"Run as fast and as far as you can!" he warned. "She'll put you to work!" A not-so-quiet OOMPH followed as the shop-owner elbowed him roughly.
"Hush, you. I only put moochers to work."
"Then why isn't Lyra out here?" At this point, Jayde tuned him out and turned back to the red-haired girl.
"What can I do for you?" she asked in a friendly manner.

Audrey's full lips quirked upwards at the exchange between the two that had addressed her. Reaching in her pocket, she pulled out a hair tie and brought back her curls, tying them back so that they stayed out of her face.
"Well... I guess you could start by telling me what Critter Haven is. I found this key, and I've..." she paused, and blushed faintly. "This is going to sound really stupid and corny, but I found this key here, and I've sort of been... pulled towards this place ever since."

Jayde smiled and brushed the dirt off on her pants before standing, moving closer to the new arrival.
"First and foremost," she began, "Critter Haven is partially a pet store. We have all sorts of pets here, everything from dogs to dragons, but there not average pets."
"Yeah," muttered Damen, who had been browbeaten into finishing planting the flowers, "like every other pet here on Gaia is 'not an average pet.' If you found a mutt that couldn't speak, fly, or breath fire they'd probably think it was an alien." Since she was too far away to elbow him again, Jayde simply sent an evil glare over her shoulder at him. When he simply smiled back, she rolled her eyes and continued.
"It's not just a shop, though; it's really the entire islands. Keys like that are more or less the eggs of the creatures that live here. There's something about them that brings people to them--people that will be good caretakers, good parents," she added with a smile.
"And then once they get suckered into takin' care of the things, the keys bring them here so that these poor, confused people will get some mythical explination and --omf!" Damens head jerked forward as a flying silver object caught him on the back of it.
"Damnit, woman, that's a trowel, not a toy!" He continued to yell and fuss in the background while Jayde turned back to the girl with a smile.
"As I was saying," she continued, completely ignoring the noise in the background, "the keys then draw the parents here. Honestly, we're not sure why, but it's generally assumed that because a lot of the keys end up here, they're sort of drawn together. Maybe to keep safe?" She shrugged and laughed a little.
"Maybe that was a little mythical, and not too much help. If I could see the key, maybe I could give you some more useful information about your new pet?"

Audrey gladly handed over the green and black key that hung around her neck, though she looked a little anxious. Like a parent giving away her child for someone else to hold for the first time.

{lol, no worries. I just was thinking, "Crapo, I scared her away with my OMFG long post}
Jayde took the key carefully from it's protective owner, holding it in gentle hands. She knew what it was like to hand over a baby; just because it was a key instead of a squirming little fuzzy didn't mean anything. So she looked at it closely before nodding slightly and handing it back with a smile.
"Yup, it's as I thought," she said with a smile.
"You say that like you're some sort of doctor," Damen said with a roll of his eyes. Deftly, he dodged the elbow that went his way.
"I'm a vet," Jayde whined slightly. "That's kind of a doctor." She shook her head again, renewing her resolve to ignore the bounty hunter and cleared her throat.
"As I was saying," she continued, pointedly looking away from Damen, "I thought that this was a panda key when I first saw it. Looking at the bamboo shape affirms this. And I think it's a little girl. But you knew that, didn't you?"

Audrey took the key back, and slipped it around her neck. She smiled sheepishly over at Jayde. "I suppose I sort of new. At least about the gender, since I've been calling her Ophelia." The young girl smiled, utterly amused at the interaction between Jayde and Damen.
"So... I'm going to get to be mother to a panda? Aren't they like... big?" she asked, laughing a little.

Jayde laughed a little before clearing her throat.
"Ah, well, they start out about the size of large teddy bears and then...yeah, yeah they get pretty big." She smiled sheepishly, hoping not to scare anyone away. Damen, however, was not so subtle and rolled his eyes heavenwards.
"They're pandas," he said on an exasperated sigh, "you think they're gonna be small?" Completely ignoring the glare he recieved from the shop owner, he continued on.
"I mean, c'mon! Despite what this little girl here thinks, they're not teddy bears." Jayde stuck her tongue out, not even trying to pretend what he said about her being a 'little girl' wasn't true--at least in maturity.

Audrey glared at Damen, her silver eyes narrowing as she did so. "Thank you, Jayde, for being so helpful," she said, looking back to the girl, brushing her long dark curls back over her shoulders. "So... Is there anything I should be doing to help Ophelia out, or whatever? Where am I going to get the bamboo to feed her?"

Jayde also cut Damen a look as if to say, Ha! See, I'm not the only girl who thinks you're an idiot... But of course, she'd never actually say anything ilke that.
In reference to Audrey's question, she looked past the girl, into the woods.
"Mostly she'll find her own bamboo, but should you need to, there's a huge patch that way."
"Watch out for snakes," said the bounty hunter, either oblivious to the looks he was getting or ignoring them quite successfully.
