..it only matches their stupidity. I've decided to do some big shopping right now[and as a result, have only 5 gold at the moment xd ], and I've been looking around. Now I know there's some idiots out there who try to sell there items more than they're worth, but this is ridiculous. I was looking for some ash hot tops for a good price and every single one on the marketplace is priced at least 100 g more than the store price. [thats including the bidding, not just the sellback.]. Who do they actually think they are fooling? Excuse my language, but what ******** moron could fall for it? Have they not actually seen the set up of a bid? ~~~~ Name of the person auctioning current bid Current bidder start time time left STORE PRICE ~~~~~~~~~~ How can someone not notice in certain items "Hmm, I could bid here.. or go to the store and get it 500g cheaper! uncommons, rares, uniques, specials, I understand. Prices fluctuate, you hope you get lucky. But store items?? Whats gone wrong with the world these days?! gonk

*points to sig* xp
Though, I susupect some people might not know they're doing it. I don't think it lists the store price when you are putting an item up on your store, only when you are bidding. Still, ignorance is no excuse...

You want to know what's even scarier? People pay more than the store price for commons in the Marketplace regularly 0_o
I did an experiment once involving 100g headwraps ~ I was able to sell all 3 with buy it now prices much higher than 100g.*
It's really quite irritating, though, for the buyers who are not spend happy, click happy morons who like to over pay =-p
Like Chaows I had a hard time getting a basic store item(Violet Mink Coat ~ 300g in store) because everyone in the Marketplace(at the time) was selling it for 500g 0_o
The other day I accidently bid too much on a pair of Morganna's Gloves(I bid 451 instead of 351 by accident - this pushed my bid 1g above store price) When I realized what I did I was kicking myself, but I figured it was okay - I was only going to lose 1g. So I sort of forgot about it and waited for the auction to close(it had several days left) Low and behold, less than 24 hours later someone had OUTBID me! I was already over the store price and they outbid me 0_o
*I have a detailed write-up of this somewhere in the GEN Guild on a thread, because we were discussing something related to this...but for the life of me I can't find that thread xd

Harakeke *points to sig* xp Though, I susupect some people might not know they're doing it. I don't think it lists the store price when you are putting an item up on your store, only when you are bidding. Still, ignorance is no excuse... Indeed. However, I sell in the Marketplace very regularly. I use Firefox which means no nice text appearing when you hover over the item telling you it's name and price. If I don't know the price of an item I want to sell I take a few minuets to go look it up or I go to a store and find out the sellback and do the math. This takes very little time(except when Gaia is laggy >.<) and it allows me to not only get the most gold for my item(I only do buy it now - no auctions, usually), but it also allows me to offer a fair price below the store price(I find people selling in the Marketplace at store price rather annoying...if I wanted to pay that much I would have bought it from the store =-p Ignorance is no excuse. Age may be, but that's a whole 'nother issue xd For the most part it seems to me that people are either lazy or greedy. I've become a bit of a Marketplace whore in the last few weeks(trying to raise money for all the purple items I don't have =-) and I regularly just sit on Gaia(usually while doing something else) and refresh the main Marketplace page looking for deals. One trend I've noticed: Often times people who over charge(for example, asking 900g for The Gift - a 500g store item) ridiculasly will be constantly cancling their auctions and reposting them so they appear on the 1st page again. I've also noticed that most users who overcharge for one item overcharge for all items(this seems to be how you can seperate the accidental people from the concious, greedy bastards =-) That shows me that those users, at least, are aware of what they're doing. Meh...don't have time to read and edit this...gotta run to class. Hope it makes sense >.<

Celes Star I use Firefox which means no nice text appearing when you hover over the item telling you it's name and price. http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/_popupalt.html.en xd Works wonders. The sad part is that the official position from the administration is that scamming people in the Marketplace is fine and dandy. stare As much as I hate the gorram scammers, I do make a fairly decent income as a kimono reseller in the Vend. What with this gold bug, it's the only way I'm making money at all. *sigh*

Sadly, that's how some people make a living. Try looking up the Ghosty lately? Wow...
I'm reminded of an Emo Glasses sale thread last in which the user was trying to sell them for 1.6k, though they're only 1.4k. When told that the store value was 1.4k, the user mentioned she had purchased them for 2k in the marketplace.
There's the MPP supposedly that PMs users who sell above store value, but without official word from the administration about what to do, there's not much that anyone can do to try and stop that type of scamming, because that's what I feel it is sometimes. I know the GEPD was planning to patrol the Marketplace as well, but they're currently split as to actually do so or not.

Meh...don't have time to read and edit this...gotta run to class. Hope it makes sense >.< That would be why I have such great luck selling in the marketplace. Whenever I sell a store item, I look to see what the buy price is, what the sellback is, then I set it up. I usually make the opening bid a little over sellback, and I always make the buy now price just under[ usually 25-120g below] the store price, so if you really want it, you can buy it right away, and still save a few gold ^^; The only item I've had problems with selling are trunks... but that easy to under stand why sweatdrop I found two ash hot tops sellig at good prices, except the auctions open for 14days and the buy now price is 600. I hate how it works, but I depend on the Marketplace to sell all my items because I don't have the spare time to hold an auction in the exchange. I'm always flipping between things whther at work or home sweatdrop But I still find it so hard to believe that when someone is buying, they fall for the overpriced items. You don't even have to research them [the stores items anyways], the price is right there available!! Doing it accidentally is okay. I once ended up almost selling my Pimp hat for 2.5k cause I tapped my scroll button ^^; You should've seen me, I freaked. xd I suppose if you fall for those easy traps, you almost deserve to get scammed out that extra gold.. [except for people like Celes, when you accidentally bid too much.. did that once too, but it was only 20, and I was outbid about 7 seconds later...]

Calluna Does it work for Opera? sweatdrop I don't think so -- It's a Mozilla thing... Firefox is a lot like Opera, if you download certain extensions -- just without the ads.

Chaows Now I know there's some idiots out there who try to sell there items more than they're worth, but this is ridiculous. And here is a whole nother catagory in this ridiculasness: those people who charge ridiculasly high prices that are so ridiculas that no one is stupid enough to pay(or so I hope rolleyes ) for no real reason User A is selling a Purple/Blue Sun Visor for 2,000,000,000g and a Royale Purple Pimpin' Hat for 20,000,000g. Another user has Gray Peasant's Pants for sale for 2,147,483,647g and the booties for 4,294,967,295g . And the two bronze medals for 9,000,000 a piece? That's just showing off! I wonder if one day there will be enough of these fake "spam" sales that moderators will have to be assigned to the Marketplace to delete them?

i still wonder why the creator of the marketplace hasn't implanted a function to avoid overpricing for store items yet. it's not a big deal to create a function that only allows setting a price <= the store price, if the item is sold in the stores. some people think it's good like it is, because so they can sell their panties for enormous prices. stressed lol
