Sons of Gondor wanted!
July 25th, 2003
The sons of the Gondorians princes play a very important role in the events both leading up to, and during, the Dagorlad (the battle fought before the Black Gates of Mordor). Thus, it would be great if we could recruit at least four people to play them.
Isildur's sons are as follows: Elendur, Aratan, and Ciryon. His fourth son, Valandil, won't be born for another five years yet.
Only one of Anárion's sons is ever named. He would be Meneldil, and he will become the first King of Gondor, following Isildur's death. As for Anárion's other three children: they are never named. All that is certain is that Meneldil is youngest. This means that either the other three sons died, or that they were all females, or perhaps a mixture of the two.
Should anyone wish to be any of the four above named characters, that would be great. I would recommend that anyone who so desires it reads the Disaster of the Gladden Fields, but it is by no means a necessity. After all, I can always summarize the short story.

* This was announced by Freodwyn yesterday, but unfortunate bugs in the guild system have lead to her post's deletion. *

Regaring the deletion of postsOld Announcement July 25th, 2003
Don't do it.
I believe this applies to Crew Members only, but just to be safe, I'm going to re-stress this point:
Do not, under any circumstances, delete a post!
Why, you ask? Well, the guild system is still full of bugs. It is a new system, after all. How is this relevant? One such bug is that if you tell the system to delete a post, it does so. But it also takes the entire thread with it.
Deleting a post deletes the entire thread.
We learned the hard way: the more keen-sighted amongst you may notice that one of our stickies is gone. Deleting a post lead to its disappearance. We are simply fortunate that it wasn't the bio thread.
AGAIN, DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING UNTIL THIS BUG IS FIXED! Update: Several Months LaterYeah, you can delete posts. In fact, you've been able to delete posts for a long time but I'm a lazy bum and what are you gonna do about it? razz

Re: Meneldil July 28th, 2004
Seeing as Meneldil is an important character for later in the RP, we are reserving him for later. Therefore, any references to and posts made as "Meneldil" have been thus far Nadorhuan, eldest son of Anárion.

Distances August 19th, 2004
Reviewing the past few posts, I have made a startling discovery.
News of Gondor's ails have reached Rivendell in a matter of days. This is not so good. Why, I am sure you are asking? Let me remind you that Gandalf thought it would take approximately 40 days to reach the Gap of Rohan from Imladris. Certainly, he was on foot, and our RPers are on horse, but despite this, it still took Shadowfax, one of the mearas 14 days to do the same.
I will not demand that past posts be edited, but I would request that future posts take into consideration the vast distances travelled.
Thank you.
Falathrim
This was a rather spontaneous announcement on my behalf. In the future, we may find that this post shall be disregarded, if distance afflicts the quality of the RP too greatly. Consider this an experiment.

Rules Revamped March 19, 2005
The rules thread has been rewritten. This was done in an attempt at more user-friendliness. As all that has been changed, more or less, is the wording of the rules, pre-existing members do not need to re-read them.
Also, the Rules thread and the Membership Application thread have been combined, again to attempt user-friendliness.
As can be seen, this change really only affects new members.

Crew Member Stuff March 23, 2005
Eothain, Hetzon, and Freodwyn have had their crew status removed. Not something I wanted to do, but having crew members who haven't made appearances in months was pointless.
Should any of them return, I will gladly reinstate their crew members status. In the meantime, there will be no replacements.

New Member Profiles Thread March 23, 2005
As this guild was founded in the very early days of the guild system, it also suffered from many of the glitches present in the first days of the guild system. One of these glitches was to count edits as new posts, even if no new posts were added. This had the horrible side-effect of occasionally adding extra, unviewable pages to new threads.
Recently, it had been decided that profiles from banned users were to be deleted from the Member Profiles thread. However, we (the crew) realized that if we were to merely start a new thread, we could kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, profiles from old users would obviously not be transfered over to the new thread; essentially, this deleted old profiles, and we didn't have to do any extra work.
Secondly, it gets rid of that annoying extra page.
My long-winded explanation complete, I request that all current RPers please post their profiles in the new thread. All that is required is that you copy and paste it from the old thead into the new thread. Thank you!
Oh, and Gil-galad's daddy is now officially Orodreth.

Guild Mule: Telumehtar March 30, 2005
The Last Alliance RP now has an official guild mule: Telumehtar.
This mule, so far, has only one purpose: mass PMing. It is not a crew member, and it is certainly not the captain. It was created solely so that a PM can be sent to all guild members with relative ease.
Within the next day or so you should recieve a request to be added to Telumehtar's Friendslist. Please accept. You need not add the mule account to your Friendslist; it will be sufficient for you to be on his.
Thank you.

A Much Needed Telumehtar Update July 16, 2005
Hmm. I should probably get around to giving you guys an update on the guild mule.
Needless to say, he hasn't received any use. Why, you ask?
Telumehtar was created for the sole purpose of PMing all members at once. However, when I attempted to test this shortly after creation, I discovered that a bug (A bug? On Gaia? Absolutely unheard of!) prevented me from sending a PM to Telumehtar's friends@gaia.
Naturally, I assumed there was a minor glitch in the system and that shortly, the admins would deal with the problem.
SEVERAL MONTHS LATER...
Well, Telumehtar is still unable to send PMs to everyone on his friendslist. That, coupled with the fact that soon an option to PM all guild members will be available to captains (and possibly crew members) has effectively killed Telumehtar.
Rest in peace, Telumehtar. We hardly knew ye.
Edit from Glorfy: OMG YOU KILLED HIM! crying (See, this is the abusing of power. I should be ashamed!)

RP Suspended for Duration of Guild Network Downtime September 1, 2005
This guild doesn't have enough activity to warrant a temporary thread in Barton Town.
Enjoy your week long vacation, folks!
UPDATE: Our lovely Gaia admins have decided to change their plans at the last minute, thus leading people like me to have made unneeded announcements.
Continue RPing until Monday, when downtime shall finally commence.

Guilds are back! Hurray!
I do hope you all had some fun without feeling obligated to rp. Crawl out of any and all writer's block and let's try and make this place active.
I'd go and do an update of where everyone was before hand but I'm lazy so I'm going to let you go back and figure it out.
Though I do think it's about time that Lindon had the wedding...
