Ever since E3 started, I've been frantically calling Gamestop everyday (random time, but still everyday, yes only once a day) asking if they're taking reservations for the PS3 and Wii
Although I was a bit skeptical when one of them asked "What's a Wii?" stressed Leaving ME to explain what the heck it was stare
Anyhoo, after that mishap, I've been going to other stores like Frys, Best Buy (duh, I work there), and EB Games to divide and conquor my chances of getting both systems on launch (there will be shortages!)
Best Buy and Frys are still doin first come first served. However, when talking to EB Games, they said they got coorporate word that they'll know when they'll be taking reservations next week. Note I did not say they will be taking reservations next week, I simply said they'll know when they'll be taking reservations by next week, same applies to Gamestop according to them
I'll keep posting updates as they come by. I'm still calling everyday just for insurance
btw, feel free to post updates of your own if you find any juicy news about reservations. The VGD Regulars must get first dibs over the fanwankers! scream

For the record, even though I DO work at Best Buy, they pull off this bullshit of a system of "employees aren't allowed to buy game systems on launch" stare
I have read the handbook and it is illegal for the to do that. However, by the time I get through the red tape calling head coorporate and telling them what's going down with this, it might be too late and the PS3's and Wii's might be sold out gonk
In short, I don't want to deal with so-called company policy and legal crap, I just want to game crying ASAP

I don't think the Wii shortage will be nearly as severe as the PS3 shortage. And since I'm waiting for a price drop on the PS3, that won't be much of a problem for me.
However, I do expect PS3s to sell for $1000 on ebay, come Christmas time. So if any of you just want to make a quick buck, getting one or two just to sell could be a great idea.

However, I do expect PS3s to sell for $1000 on ebay, come Christmas time. So if any of you just want to make a quick buck, getting one or two just to sell could be a great idea. Oh come on. Even the 360s got up to two grand. PS3 will be selling for $3000 at it's peak.

see my local Toys'r'us said they are not taking preorders till august or so
and the guys at my local EB said that they were told there will be no PS3 preorders from them
I will check back next week to see if that has changed in both cases
but at this point I am debating waiting and preorderign from the second production run for the PS3 and just getting it next year when they restock..... plus that should give me a better chance of dodging glitches
