Translated as "The Land of the King," for this is the realm in which Elendil, High King of Gondor and Arnor, makes his house. Hills are abundant in the north, where the great cities of Fornost and Annúminas were founded. Annúminas, which is built upon the great lake of Evendim, is where Elendil himself makes his great manors. Most of the Dúnedain of the North make their homes in scattered towns and villages along the Baranduin, but Arnor as a kingdom stretches from Lindon in the West to the Misty Mountains in the east, and can be crossed with safety with thanks to the East-West Road.

Arnor: Along the Brandywine Rv.

::Banished and betrayed by his superiors, Illoras left the city he called his home and travelled along the long Brandywine River in exile. Strangely he found himself feeling a great weight had been taken off his chest and he now rode his great horse Lucca breathing easier then he had since childhood. True, he didn’t have a coin to his name, no family, no home, but he was enjoying his freedom, his detachment and lack of responsibility, too much to truly care about his banishment.

He travelled with no supplies, no tools, no weapons, no water; he was thrown from the city with only the clothes on his back, along with his mount as well of course—which was left to him as a courtesy by his former superiors::

Illoras contemplated directing himself to a certain haven from the dangerous wild, and then put that thought out of his mind, he thought of anyone he might wish to meet in the near future, and set that out as well. He just wandered along with no particular consideration for the future, just kept riding along the river.

Arnor: Along the Brandywine Rv.

::Wandering carelessly further along the river, the sky was growing dark and Illoras grew hungry. He figured that he had already kept Lucca strapped up too much today; the last time he did so, the poor girl was all blistered and sore along the straps. He climbed off and removed the saddle from his friends back and pulled her along off away from the river side to an opened field for her to rest::

Arnor: Elendil's manor at Annúminas
Elenna

There Elenna laid inside the warm manor at Annúminas, in the Tower of Elendil. She was the granddaughter of the King, and that is why she laid in the tower. The light of the moon glared through the windows. The large white bed comforted the Princess of Gondor, weary after the bloody attack of the Wargs, far away in the south of Arnor.

They had come upon her suddenly, which lead to the guards being unable to protect her from the attack. Elenna was thrown off of her black horse, falling onto sharp, jagged rocks on the road below. The guards eventually killed that small pack of Wargs, and as swiftly as possible brought her to Annúminas. Elendil's servants cared for her to the very best of their abilities, the most skilled healers in the land.

Finally, after several days of rest, Elenna was able to lift herself from her bed. She was gazing through the window, standing there in silence. My adventures are just about to begin... The instant I am recovered, I shall set out again, so that I may visit all of Endor's vast kingdoms. Oh, how I should love to see the havens of the West, and the great forests of Greenwood! I hate those Wargs for delaying me!

Cardolan Region, Southern Arnor - 10 miles past Tharbad

It is midday when Isilien and her small party stop for a short break, having just entered the lands of Arnor. The night before was spent within the safety of the walls of Tharbad, an ancient city of Men. There, Isilien's party restocked their supplies and rested for the night. It's been three weeks since they left Minas Anor.

Dismounting her horse, Isilien moves to sit beneath a shady tree on the brink of a grassy plain. The soldiers accompanying her tend to their horses and drink a bit of water. It is a relatively cool day, with the sun peeking once in a while through fluffy white clouds. All is calm on the plain. Isilien's warm elven eyes peer into the distance at the small forest in the distance. Even further beyond does she catch a glimpse of the rolling hills of the South Downs. As she sits in silence, she allows the gentle sound of rustling of leaves soothe her troubled mind, allowing herself to temporarily release the stress she feels. She is growing ever impatient and ever worried about her Daughter. Staring off into the distance, Isilien utters a whispered prayer to Illúvatar for Elenna's recovery.

After a half hour of rest, the party re-mounts and continues on their journey towards Annúminas. It isn't that much farther now.

Annúminas - City of the Kings of Arnor

It is midday when Isilien and her party slow to a halt atop a breezy hill of Evendim, looking down at the city of Elendil sprawling before them. Beyond the city, the crystal blue waters of Lake Nenuial glisten in the sunlight, and even further the rise and fall of green hills as the Emyn Uial continue northward.

Isilien smiles through her weariness, content to look upon her Father-in-Law's glorious city in the North. Nudging her horse forward, the elf princess rides hard down the slope of the hill, racing towards the great gates of the fortified city. Her soldier companions race hard to catch up. Isilien is eager to see her Daughter, praying to Illúvatar for Elenna's good health.

As the riders approach, the great gates of the city swing open and royal guards ride to greet them in the main square of the city. Isilien slows to a halt and nods respectfully at the Captain of the Guard as he dismounts and bows before the elf princess.

Lady Isilien! Welcome to Annúminas. The High King has been informed of your arrival and has invited you to join him for supper. He is very pleased that his Daughter-in-Law is visiting, though he wishes it a more joyous occasion. Elenna lies in the Tower of the High King. His Majesty asks that you take all the time you need.

Isilien smiles warmly.

Thank you, Captain. Please tell the King I'd be delighted to join him for supper. In the meantime, will you please see that my guards rest and eat well? We have been riding for weeks and are weary from the long journey.

Of course, Lady. I will see to their accomodations at the best inn of the city. They will be well taken care of.

Many thanks, Captain.

With that, Isilien nods to her guards and continues through the city towards Elendil's manor at the heart of Annúminas. A stable master stands ready to take her horse as she enters the courtyard and dismounts from her horse. Following a handmaiden, Isilien is led through the large manor to the tall tower of the King. Hurrying up the stairs, her thoughts are on her Daughter. She is anxious to see her again.

Annúminas - Tower of Elendil

Isilien enters the top-most chamber of the tower to find her daughter Elenna sleeping soundly in her bed. The elf princess' heart catches in her throat as she slowly approaches and looks upon the pale face of her injured daughter.

Oh Elenna....sweet child! What have they done to you?

Isilien falls to her knees besides her only Daughter and clutches the young woman's slender hand.

I am here, my Daughter. Your mother is here....

A handmaid looks on from the doorway, her expression sad.

Annúminas - Elendil's Tower

Isilien quietly sits at her sleeping Daughter's side for a couple of hours, watching the slow rising and falling of her chest as Elenna lies recuperating. It is nightfall when she stands and softly kisses Elenna's brow. There isn't much she can do this night.

Assured that Elenna is being watched by a nursemaid, Isilien gathers her warm cloak about her and descends the winding stairs, heading towards the main hall to greet her Father-in-law Elendil. She is informed that supper is ready and that the High King patiently awaits his son's elven wife.

Isilien enters the grand hall and finds the kind-hearted king seated by the fireplace, rubbing his hands together to keep warm. Plates of steaming food sit on a circular table beside the aging king of Men and Isilien notices the empty plates on another table between two large chairs. The elf woman feels guilty for keeping the King from his supper.

A servant announces the Lady's presence as she approaches from behind and Elendil turns and stands to greet her. He smiles warmly and his gentle blue eyes lighten as he observes his Daughter-in-law approaching.

Isilien, my Dear!

Isilien bows her head and starts to curtsy but is halted with a gentle hand.

Please, my Dear. There is no need to be so formal with me. We are family, after all, he replies and hugs her warmly.

Isilien beams and returns the hug.

It is so good to see you, Sire.

For the next hour or so, Isilien sits with Elendil and talks about Gondor and Arnor, Elenna and the rest of the Family. She is informed that the siege of Gondor by the Enemy was unsuccessful and that the Enemy soldiers fled before the might of Gondor. At this news, Isilien's heart rejoices. However, news of her injured husband troubles her deeply. Elendil assures her that Anarion is receiving the best of care and she is comforted somewhat. Inside, her hatred for the Enemy grows.

Annúminas-Nolah's Apartments

Nolah turned from the book she had in her grasp and smiled politely at the man standing in the doorway

Béjo?

I've brought you supper My lady...the king's daughter in law, the princess Isilien arrived tonight and they will spend their time in counsel, I've taken the liberty to bring you your food here.

He crossed the room and quietly placed the covered tray on the table.

Does My Lady require anything else?

This is well Béjo, take thee to rest.

He bowed politely and then withdrew with barely a sound. Nolah studied the covered tray for a moment as the aroma drifted towards her. There, tucked just beneath the lip of the tray was a neatly folded piece of paper. She read it quickly and smiled. It was from the King, expressing his regret at not having her dine tonight, though explaining the urgency.

She sat quietly while she ate and wondered at the new situation. She had heard of the princess' attack and now she had confirmation of Isilien's Arrival. She had also heard many great things of the King's daughter in law and felt a sudden curiousity as to what she was like. Had her other children come as well?

Annúminas/Main Hall of Elendil's Tower

Elendil the Tall

"It so happens, my Dear, that the caretaker of the Palantir of Minas Ithil has informed me of the injuries of your husband. But rest assured, he is well taken care of."

Elendil leaned backwards on his chair, with a sigh. He was weary and worried by his sons, wounded in the farthest outpost of the Numenoreans. But he trusted the might of his friend Ereinion Gil-galad, that he would keep them safe from harm. In his heart, he understood; Minas Ithil would fall soon. These dire omens perturbed the High King's mind gravely. The escape of Isildur would not be taken lightly by the lieutenant of Morgoth.

"My child, are you hungry? For I am too. Let us talk of these things, as we eat the finest that the chefs of Annúminas have to offer!" Elendil says, with a kind smile, as he lifts himself from the couch, and prepares a seat for him and his son's wife.

"My grandaughter is being watched by the finest healers and nurses of our city. She will be well, soon. Morthol, my squire, bring wine for me and Isilien, please." He waved to the tall, young man fully equipped that guarded the stairway that led to the upper chambers. He returned with dinner and a bottle of wine.

Annúminas - Elendil's Tower

Isilien finds comfort in the High King's words and smiles warmly. Both her husband and her daughter are in good hands and will recover soon enough.

I wish Anárion and our sons could visit. It has been awhile since their eyes marvelled at the beauty that is Arnor. Perhaps when the situation in Gondor settles down will they be able to visit. Meneldil and Naira are eager to return.

Isilien takes a sip of her wine and then starts on her meal, realizing she is absolutely famished.

Annuminas-Nolah's Apartments

"Are you finished my lady?" Larion spoke quietly from the doorway. Nolah nodded and began to gather the plates before her but Larion quickly stepped forward to shoo her away. "Can't have the lady of the house cleaning her own dishes, it would reflect poorly don't you think?" She smiled maternally at the young woman and then gathered everything onto the tray.

"Thank you Larion." Nolah returned the grin and then wandered back towards the window. Although it was dark she could see the lights in the tower and wondered again at the happenings of the city, of Gondor. She'd heard rumours but had yet to be told the truth. Perhaps she would have the chance to speak with the king on the morrow.

" You best sleep my lady, I know that you've been having trouble lately with your slumber, Perhaps getting into your bed earlier will bring sleep earlier?"

"Perhaps you are right."

"Good night My Lady."

"Good night Larion'

Larion paused at the door, tray and dinnerware cradled against her hip. "Beg your pardon, but I overheard you discussing marriage with one of your friends. I hope this is not too bold but, seeing as you've lost your family...marriage would be a good thing, It gives one meaning. My own daughter's married and gone, and I would be honoured if you feel you need my advice...I will always be willing to be your confidant. Once you have met the right person...you just know, even though, sometimes it doesn't feel so at first."

"Thank you, I will take that into consideration." Nolah forced what she hoped was a warm smile to her features and then patiently waited until Larion had left the room before reverting back to a neutral, if strained expression.

Once changed and tucked in amongst the blankets she let her eyes slide shut and waited, but once again sleep eluded her.
