Race: Noldorin Elf

Age: 25 yéni

Weapons: Aeglos, the Spear of Gil-galad, "Snowthorn" in the Common Tongue, and Gurthang, a silver sword named after the blade of Túrin Turambar.

Appearance: Tall and strong, like most Noldorin Elves. He wears armor crafted from silver and mithril, which gives him his name Gil-galad, or "Star of Radiance," as he can be seen miles away when it is worn. Under his armor, he wears blue Elvish robes, embroidered with gold braid. The crest of his house, a device of white stars upon a blue rondure, is worn across these robes.

Brief History: After the breaking of the Siege of Angband, High King Fingon sent his only son Ereinion to dwell at the Falas. Fingon died in the Nirnaeth, but because Ereinion was still but a youth, his uncle Turgon in the Hidden Kingdom took up the crown. The Dark Lord's Orcs raided the Falas after that dreadful battle, so Círdan and Ereinion fled to the Isle of Balar, where they would remain until the sinking of Beleriand. When Gondolin fell, Ereinion Gil-galad took up the title of his father as High King of the Noldor. He would have aided the Exiles of Gondolin and Doriath during the Kinslaying, but came too late to the Mouths of Sirion and could only take in the survivors as his own people. After the War of Wrath, Gil-galad founded Lindon, and ruled those few who remained of the Noldorin exiles. He rejected Annatar, but when Celebrimbor sent up two Elven Rings of Power he accepted them, for Sauron had no doing in their making. To Elrond, his herald, he gave Vilya, the Ring of Sapphire. When the Faithful washed ashore in their ships falling the Downfall, Gil-galad formed a steadfast alliance with their lord, Elendil. Neither of the kings suspected that it would be Elvenkind and Mankind’s last great alliance.

Location: Lindon

Race :: Nazgûl

Age :: 1556 years

Weapon(s) :: Angamarth, a Mordor-blade, and Urthaur, a mace

Appearance :: In all likeliness, he was once a fair Man, tall and handsome even to the Elves, as most great lords of Númenór were in that time. But today, he is a wraith, a formless being, who can only be seen when he drapes himself with his long, black Mordor-cloaks. Only the Dark Lord himself can see his body, a twisted and corrupteded shape, consumed by the Shadow.

Brief History :: Akhorahil was born into the House of Andúnië upon the Isle of Númenór, even before the Shadow fell upon the realm of the Edain. Early on, he would have bore a Quenya name, as was the tradition in that time, but that is long forgotten. Early in his life, he traveled the world, eager to learn the various arts of the Elves of Endor. But soon, he began to envy the life of the Eldar, and so when the sorcerer Annatar offered him a mysterious Ring, claiming it would prolong his life, he accepted willingly.

There was, of course, a price. Akhorahil, who had by this time become a trusted advisor to Tar-Atanamir, was ordered to subtly instruct the King to begin persecution of the Elendili. This Akhorahil did freely, thinking to eventually set right the wrongs he had committed. But soon he became obsessed over his ring, and his heart's desires became true to his words. For over one hundred years he would advise Tar-Atanamir to regard the Elendili in suspicion. Though the shadow had fallen on Elenna even before Akhorahil's birth, it was in this manner that the rebellion and divison of Númenór became an even greater threat.

A yén or more passed, and the ring finally consumed Akhorahil entirely. He began to understand why death was not a Doom, but a Gift. Too late. He was drawn into the Shadow, and had become a wraith, subservient to the will of Sauron. The Dark Lord took back the ring he had given, and yet still Akhorahil was bound to it, never to die until its ending. So even though he may hate his Lord, he serves him unwillingly, for he desires the day where his Ring may be returned to him.

Location :: Mordor

Race :: Dwarf

Age :: 144

Weapon(s) :: A Dwarvish axe of mithril and silver

Appearance :: Nar is a rather typical dwarf, measuring at about five feet tall. His face is buried beneath his rough, black hair; and that can be seen is a large, round nose, and his grey eyes. He is clad in silver, gold, and mithril armor, which he himself wrought, in the harsh style of the Dwarves.

Brief History :: His father was Anar, who was the son of Lofar and the cousin to the Dwarf-king Durin IV. As a Dwarf of noble blood, he led an aristocratic childhood, although an uneventful one. Of course, this all changed when the dreaded cold-drake Ancalas decided to use Anar's bones to make a pretty necklace. Suddenly, Nar found himself with a rather large inheritance.

This is why Nar is among the richer Dwarves of Khazad-dûm, despite his young age. He is well learned in the arts of blacksmithing, and he employs many servants in his unending search for mithril, most beloved of metals, found only in the halls of his people, Durin's Folk.

Location :: Khazad-dûm

Race: Noldor Elf

Age: 2331

Weapons: Curved elven sword, small dagger, long bow and arrows

Appearance: 5'3", 120 lbs.; petite and ethereal; long stick straight dark brown, almost black hair; dark brown eyes.

Brief History: Isilien ("Daughter of the Moon") Andunel ("Sunset Star") is the only daughter of High Noldor King Gil-galad. Born in the year 1094 of the Second Age, Isilien spent all of her childhood in Lindon. Gil-galad refused to allow her to travel, fearing the hoards of orcs and goblins that were often seen running about the land. Determined to see the lands outside Lindon, she trained with the Noldor Elven soldiers, learning to shoot a bow and fight with a sword. Gil-galad did not object. He would rather have his daughter fight than see her captured. His daughter's training eased his mind and in her teens, allowed her to travel to Imladris and Lorien.

In the year 3225, Isilien travelled across the sea to look upon the realm of the Numenoreans, despite the prohibition of the Eldar instated by Ar-Gilmezor in 3102. There, those known as the Faithful welcomed the daughter of the Noldor King but hid her from all those faithful to Ar-Gilmezor and his descendants. In Numenor did Isilien remain for many long years, having fallen in love with her home in Romenna. In the port city of Andunie did she meet Kareswen and later Anárion, son of Elendil. Her visits to Andunie were short and sporadic for travel across Numenor was highly dangerous for Eldar. Still, she visited a number of times and watched Anarion grow into manhood. When Amandil, Lord of Andunie and father of Elendil, withdrew to Romenna with his family and all those still Faithful, Isilien and Anárion were reunited, and were secretly wed on Midsummer of the year 3290. Between 3291 and 3299, Isilien gave birth to four children, Meneldil being the last.

At the Downfall of Numenor, Isilien and her 4 children sailed with Anarion and his two ships to Endor and there, supported him as he and his brother founded the kingdom of Gondor. In Endor, was she reunited with her Father and her kin and has since dwelt happily, however when looking upon the Sea does her heart long to return to the land claimed by the waters: Numenor.

Location: She lives with Anarion at Minas Anor.

Name: Kementari

Character name: Kareswen

Race: Elf

Age: 1539 (appears much younger, like any Elf would)

Weapon(s): Bow and Arrow, Long Sword

Appearance: 5'4", 115 Lbs, wavy dark blond hair (at top of head hair is straight, it becomes wavy near the end)

Brief history: Born in the year 1886, Kareswen came to Númenór with her family in 2136 when she was 250 and they resided in Imladris. In 3102, when Ar-Gimilzôr took the sceptre and placed a band upon all Eldar, Kareswen was hidden by Amandil, the Lord of Andúnië in his household.
In 3119 Elendil, son of Amandil was born and Kareswen was designated his caretaker. 90 years later, Isilidur son of Elendil was born. In 3310, Isilidur and Kareswen met and 5 years later, they were secretly wed. Three years later, their first son is born, Elendur.
3319, a year later, was the Downfall of Númenór. Kareswen managed to escape with Isilidur and Elendur to Gondor, where in 3320 Minas Ithil was built and Gondor was founded.
At present, Kareswen lives in Minas Ithil with Isilidur and their sons Elendur and Ciryon.

Location: Minas Ithil with Isildur.

Name: Hetzon
Character's Name: Sauron
Race: Maiar
Age: Uh...the Maiar were created by the Creator with the Valar to help them in their song. So...Sauron is as old as time...?
Weapons: He's a lesser god, essentially. In battle, he uses a big sword, and the Ring, along with the nine Rings for men and the five for the dwarves.
Appearance: This is set after the fall of Numenor, therefore, Sauron is stuck within the human form he assumed to corrupt the men of that race.
Brief History: Sauron served with the Great Dark Lord in the first age. He was created as a lesser god, one of the Maiar, to serve the Creator and instead he began to question, just as Morgoth had.

After the fall of Morgoth, Sauron bided his time, holing up in his stronghold in the north, that which would one day become Mordor. His corruption of the Kings of Numenor led to the Valar forcing him to remain in the vile human form he had assumed following that race's ultimate downfall.

He has been in Mordor, building his armies ever since.

Location: Mordor
Why I wish to join: Because 1)I love LOTR, and I hope to increase my knowledge of it, and 2) I love playing evil characters. *grin*
I have read the Anti-Munch project and the rules.

(temporary picture)

-Name: Freodwyn
- Character's Name: Prince Isildur, Lord of Minas Ithil and Joint Ruler of Gondor
- Race: Númenorian Man
- Age: 216
- Weapon(s): A long sword and a short sword
- Appearance: Isildur is blessed with a relatively youthful appearance due to his high ancestry, though his glance is one of a man wise in the ways of the world and all of its evils. When he is in Osgiliath, he wears his beard short and neatly shaved. His armor, when he wears it, is polished and ornately decorated with the standard of the White Tree. When not at war, he wears robes befitting his royal status.
- Brief History: Isildur's early life was full of dangers, both physical and mental. As the son of Elendil, Isildur inherited the ancestry of the Kings of Númenor and the burden of being one of the few Faithful left in Númenor. Isildur could do nothing as Sauron the Deciever slowly corrupted the heart of the King, for his noble blood was not enough to overcome the King's Men and their fear of death. Learning that the sacred White Tree, Nimloth the Fair, would soon be destroyed, Isildur disguised himself and entered the courtyard where Nimloth was kept. He risked his very life in doing so, but what he gained was priceless; a fruit of the White Tree, an image of Telperion itself. Isildur gained the praise of the Faithful for his deed, but he only angered Sauron, who convinced the King to destroy Nimloth. This, along with various other vile deeds, including the murders of many of the Faithful, invoked the wrath of the Valar, and when King Ar-Pharazon broke the Ban of the Valar by stepping on the Isle of Valinor, Eru caused the Island of Númenor to sink into the ocean. Only nine ships escaped the wrath of Eru, and Isildur carried the sapling of Nimloth the Fair with him in one of the ships.
As an exile in Middle-earth, Isildur has fared better than he did when he lived on the blessed island of Númenor, though memories of his former home still haunt him. Perhaps Isildur wonders if he could have done more to prevent the terrible loss of Númenor, and so strives ever the harder to make his great kingdom of Gondor a land of beauty and wealth.

Laurewyn

PostPosted: Thu Jul 29, 2004 10:12 am

User Image

- Name: Laurewyn

- Character's Name: Laurewyn Goldsheen

- Race: Noldor Elf

- Age: 892

- Weapon(s): She weilds a Recurved Bow (Merenaerlinn, or Joyous Song), Eagle-feathered arrows, a hunting knife (Feredir, or Hunter), and a long knife. (Although she is capable of bearing a sword and shield.)

- Appearance: Her hair is of a twilight hue and is rather long. She has grey eyes, is around 5'9", and bears a fair complexion. Laurewyn has also been known to have a golden aura, (similar to a halo) hence her name.

- Brief History: Laurewyn was lost in Greenwood as a child when her family was under ambush (forgive the stereotypic style). She was raised there for a time then moved to Imladris when she became of age. The elf maiden later discovered her family survived the attack in Greenwood. While in Imladris, she was given a small token of her kin's survival, a silver ring bearing a white stone. Being a small symbol of magic, it grants her foresight (on a rather minute scale comparing to Elrond). After much studying in Imladris, Laurewyn went traveling far and wide then became a Ranger, despite her gender. Through the years, she honed and worked to perfect her skills. Laurewyn now kneels to the service of all Free Peoples of Middle Earth.

- Location: Mostly wandering, Imladris

- Why You Wish to Join: I am an experienced roleplayer (LOTR and other styles) and enjoy it very much. I am also a very devoted fan of Tolkien and his work. I have done various studies on his biography and have done many sucessful papers on his books, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I also enjoy practicing my elvish, when it comes to roleplay.

- Have you read the Anti-Munch Project? Yes, and I am very impressed someone took the time to post that. All RP-ers should read it!

- Have you read the Rules? Yes

- RP Example of your character engaging an orc enemy: (I'll try not to make it too long.) Laurewyn spies the mass of orcs from the line of archers. At the command, she draws an arrow and fits the nock to her bow. The wooden frame creaks as she forces the bowstring close to her ear. The cry of her captain echoes through the air and hundreds of bowstrings sing, sending a deadly volley of elven arrows into the enemy lines...

Name: Hetzon
Character's Name: Galadriel
Race: Noldor
Age: Very Old
Weapons: None Known
Appearance: Galadriel is fair of skin, as all Elves are, and her hair is golden. It is said that the light of the Trees became ensnared in her golden hair, and inspired Fëanor to make the silmarilli. (compliments to Falathrim for that particular quote.)
Brief History: Your best bet for this one would be to look at Falathrim's Annals of Arda post, but here's a more concise version.

Galadriel is daughter of Finarfin, son of Finwë and Indis. The name given to her by her father was Artanis; Galadriel was given her by Celeborn. She is said to be the greatest of all the Noldor, save Fëanor. She ignored the Prophecy of Mandos and returned to Middle Earth, and then later refused the Pardon of the Valar in her pride. She took no part in the Kinslaying, and even fought alongside the Teleri at Alqulonde, which is where she met Celeborn. She ended up at Belfalas after finding Celeborn again at Imladris...

Like I said, it'll just be easier for people to read Falathrim's summary. Chris Tolkien said himself that Galadriel's is possibly the most confusing of the character histories in Middle Earth.

Location: Belfalas
Why I wish to join: I already have one character, known to all of you as the infamous Sauron. I wish to prove to everyone that I myself am not inherently evil, and I want to be more involved with the RP on a day to day basis. Sauron isn't a terribly active character right now.

Yes to both the next questions, and I am going to assume that I am exempt from the RP example, because I already have a character and you have all seen worthwhile demonstrations of my RP ability.

Menegil

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Character's Name: Menegil

Race: Elf of the Teleri, distant kinsman of Thingol

Age: Born during the Years of the Trees

Weapons: Elven Great Bow, a numenorean-style kris, and Gilmegil "Starsword", a curved elven longsword that glows intensely where the power of Morgoth is felt. Very useful to scare off orcs and the ilk.

Appearance: The normal elven height, slightly musculated. His hair is blond and slightly short, a golden diadem with a silver thread, that hangs a valinorian saphire. His pendant, offered to him by his father, glows with Telperion's radiance. Later in the ages, when the Trees were destroyed and the Moon revealed to the world, the stone started to warmly welcome it's light, and reflect it in a pure, silver shine, that covers it's user with an intermitent aura. His blue robes reflect his love for the open sky.

Brief History: Menegil was born during the radiance of the Trees. His fathers were sailors in the port-city of Alqualondë, and he gladly learned the fine art of sailing, yet he did not cherished the sea as his friends and companions did. Time flew on him, and when he reached his plenitude of strength and mentality, he revealed an odd wisdom, a wisdom rarely to be compared with the various sages and loremasters that lived in the harbors. He left for Tirion, where he studied the ways of the Vanyar and the Noldor, and learned with some elven smiths, upon the Darkening of Valinor, the forging of the most various weapons. As he finished his studies, he returned to Alqualonde, where his father warmly welcomed him, holding a grand celebration at his house. After some days, the trees were destroyed, and darkness spread throughout the Blessed Land. He sensed great malice upon the land when that happened, but unfortunately, no one would listen to him. Finally, some time after, the Noldor engaged themselves in combat against the sailors and the ship builders. Menegil saw, with horror, his father being slain while defending his boat, and his mother's head being severed by one of Fëanor's sons, Celegorm. He then disguised himself as a Noldorin Soldier, and sailed to Middle Earth. He stayed with Fingolfin and became a good friend of his, and he almost found his ruin upon the Helcaraxe. Upon the arrival to Middle Earth, Menegil swore an oath to Fingolfin, that he would always serve him and his family's descendants, forever, until death would deliver him into the Halls of Mandos. Since then, he survived many battles alongside the various elven High Kings. Now he serves Gil-Galad as the chief counselor and general.

Location: Imladris, currently helping Elrond Half-elven during his endeavours, and teaching the art of war to some students.

Why would i wish to join?: Because it is rare to find a nice RP in wich we can talk, and battle, while developing my use of english language, and also because it's about Middle-earth xd

Yes i've read the Anti-Munch...made me laugh a little xp
And of course i've read the rules! I'm no newbie 3nodding

- Name: GenevieveCobalt
- Character's Name: Genevieve
- Race: Noldor Elf
- Age: 3692
- Weapon(s): Dwarven made silver-steel highbred lightsword, made in the style of the Noldor elves
- Appearance: tall and slender with wavy blond hair and cobalt blue eyes
- Breif History: Genevieve is the child of Angrod, son of Finarfin of the Noldor, and Ezrie Tarawealth. Her father died at Dagor Bragollach while Genevieve was still growing in her mother’s womb and before he could seal the contract of marriage. To maintain his heroism, Ezrie did not make public their affair and ran away to a secluded area where she could raise her child. The two accompanied the exile of the Noldor but returned to Valinor with their king to seek pardon. Genevieve was raised in the lands of the gods but left those shores when she was grown and entered Middle Earth. With no real purpose, she wandered those lands, in the north mostly where it was safe behind the Blue Mountains and eventually stumbled upon the house of a dieing human. She comforted him, nursed him and cared for him while no one else would and lived with him for almost a year until he died. She inherited the house and property and lived there by herself and was happy for some time. After a decade or so, she grew weary of her solitude and left her home, taking with her only a few scraps on food and a map. She wandered again for some time, but when the lands became to dangerous to do so, she sought refuge in Ered Luin with the dwarves in those mountains. She was met by a dear friend of the man she had lived with until his death and told the dwarf of his last days. He took her under his wing and welcomed her into his family. She was like a daughter to him (the both didn’t seem to be bothered by the confines of race) and he forged her a sword “finer then any ever conceived in history” so he said. It took him close to fifty years to make and was a gift to her on his deathbed. She stayed by his side until he died, then left the Blue Mountains for the Grey Havens. There she built for herself a new life and was finally living with her people after a very long time. There she made many friends and then left the city to move to Elrond’s Imladris. Back and forth she now travels between her two homes every so often travelling by her lonesome to meet up with her friends in a different part of the world.
- Location: Grey Havens and Imladris mostly

-Character's Name: Nimirien Kalinardu (by the elves called Maethornissë) (both meaning warrior-that-is-a-woman, woman-warrior.)

- Race: Dúnadan

- Age: 21

- Weapon(s): long sword Dagarzâira with mithril and sapphire gems inlaid in handle and cirth runes running up length of blade, two daggers, and bow. Sword weapon of choice; not so slick with a bow.

- Appearance: short and slender with long wavy tawny hair, grey eyes and a tanned complexion. Dresses in grey tunic with blue leggings and a billowing travel-stained grey-blue cloak.

- Brief History: wanted to be a warrior, so despite her parents' wishes ran away to learn the ways of the Rangers. Fled to area around Annúminas and found Telving Lokehûnion, who taught her the ways of the Wild. There she took a new name, Kalinardu. She learned to wield a sword well, track, hunt, ride, simple healing arts, etc. For eight years she's wandered Middle-earth and often visited the elves, learning their ways and tongues. Greenwood she most often visited, and it was the Silvan there who named her also Maethornissë. Because of her multicultural history, she is rugged and tough like the Dúnedain, but graceful and fair of speech and song like the Elves.

- Location: Ithilien (Edit: actually in Rivendell. Apologies for inconvienience or confusion... sweatdrop )
