Boys and girls. This thread includes three IMPORTANT lessons, that everyone must LIVE by in the tala community. They are very simple and easy. We will go through them step by step for you!
Lesson One: Spelling. With your teacher. PL!
Spelling accidents occur, many times for all people. We accept that. Some however, happen through the common term of 'chatspeak.' That we do not accept.
No words in the english language include numbers in them, so please, don't include numbers in your words.
Here is a guide of easily mispelled words for your convience. First will be displayed the incorect word. THen the correct word.
G2G = I have to go. l8r = Later lik = Like b4 = Before plz = Please sry/soz = Sorry ur = Your u = You ment = Meant dat = That wat = What phat = Fat (though you should NEVER use this word xd ) ppl = People w/e = Whatever goin = Going bak = Back lolz = lol kool = Cool tru = True
Now we know there are many other mispelled words that people use and ABUSE constantly, but I cannot list all of them. My hands only have so much wherewithall anyway.
It doesn't take too long to look over what you type or at the extra letter to make the word into its proper form. So we should all do it.
Having a vocabulary is also nice. Good only does so much, try phenomenal, grand, extrodinary, etc. Those are words that are usefull. The theasaurus is your FRIEND.
Now please continue on to today's other lessons. Learn them. Live them. Love them.

Grammar! What logically follows spelling? Why, grammar, of course. I'll touch on a few grammar sins oft committed in our own dear Gaia, and how to correct them with ease. First on the agenda is punctuation. Punctuation, the how to guide. As we all know, punctuation was taught to us in school as that logical step that makes speech make sense. We should write as we speak, and for every pause for breath, we need either a comma or fullstop. Examples:wrong me and my sister went to town today and had a great time how are you right Me and my sister went to town today, and had a great time. How are you? Sounds simple enough, is simple enough, but some people seem to think a comma is a newly discovered mammal.
In punctuation we will also cover the alarming abuse of exclamation marks. One does the trick, these are not endangered animals we're talking about. Think of the children!
Double negatives, that scourge of the English language. Aint nothin' wrong with a good ol' double negative, right? Does the trick, right? WRONG. As you might have noticed, there's a double negative in the above sentence. "Aint nothin' wrong," once stretched out, reads "there isn't nothing wrong." In other words, something's wrong. Two negatives cancel each other out, making the entire sentence redundant.
"Txt" chat, why do you taunt me so? Anyone who has a mobile phone will know the joys of text messaging, as well as the pain this phenomenon has caused the english language. While Pink has mentioned the larger points of "txt spk," I am going to touch on it briefly to note that omitting the bulk of a word is just plain wrong. It might be quick to simply type up "u r so funy mn hav a gud day mis u lotz luv me" but honestly, who needs that on their computer screen? We have unlimited space, and typing is a lot easier that manoeuvring around a phone, finding the letter you need. So, in short, please use full words.
Obviously, there's a lot more to understanding grammar in full, but these three are common mistakes I've noticed in Gaia. So, capitalise, punctuate, read back, and have fun! heart

Getting a Tala: The Do's and Don'ts
Okay, you're in the guild, you stalk the thread. But you still don't have yourself a Tala. How do you go about getting one for yourself? Here are a few pointers for what to do- and what to NEVER do.
Do: ~ Hang around the thread a lot. Make yourself known. ~ RP with us, properly and often. ~ RP pets you have until you get a Tala. ~ Read the front page of the main thread, and any thread you come to. ~ Be courteous to owners and non-owners alike. ~ Have fun.
Don't: ~ Beg for a Tala every five seconds. ~ Come to the thread for the sole purpose of begging. ~ Use chatspeak when talking, and especially not when RPing. ~ Ask for a Tala repeatedly. Or even once, for that matter. Unless there's a flatsale, auction, raffle, event, or pet trade, breeding,or something of the like, there aren't any avaliable. ~ Ask anything without reading the rules. Chances are, it's answered there. ~ Use guilt trips. They're not nice.
And above all, never ever PM an owner asking for a Tala. If they want to give you one, they'll offer. If not, leave them alone.
And please, just use common sense people.

After Getting a Tala: The Do's and Don'ts
So you've got yourself a Tala now. Lucky you! Now, what are you going to do with it? Certainly, not just let it sit in your sig and collect dust.
Do: - Keep hanging around the thread! We love the company. - RP with us, properly and often. This doesn't change either. We love having Talaye around to play with, and it's a good way to find mates too. wink - Be courteous to owners and non-owners alike. This is still a big thing. Non-owners aren't any better than you, you were in the same situation at one time. - Have fun with your new Tala!
Don't: - Get your Tala and then never return to the thread. - Let your Tala collect dust sitting in your randosig. - Use chatspeak when talking, and especially not when RPing. This is still a big deal. Chatspeak is irritating, and when you type out your sentences, you'll find people want to rp with you more.
More will be added as they are needed.
And really, just have fun with your Tala. We don't bite over at the Meadow. smile

Common sense, both in RP and out!
In RP When RPing, DO: - RP as often as you can. - be corteous to all persons participating in the RP - Interact with all who wish to RP - Use proper English - keep your Tala, and yourself, in character - be mindful of your Tala's limitations - Try to be descriptive. Adjectives are out friends! - be tactful, both in word choice and actions - Read back a few pages to see if a scenario is currently being RPed - remember that RP is ROLE PLAYING. (Some characters may be abrasive or unfriendly, and their actions do not reflect the true nature of the owners.)
When RPing, DO NOT: - RP infrequently and expect your Talaye to grow and or evolve - form cliques - exclude a person because thet do not have a Tala - control another person or their Tala (without permission) - use chatspeak or any form of sub standard English...ever! - interrupt or attempt to stop a current scenario to start your own - kill another character (without permission) - disguise begging in RP form - attack another owner for RPing their Tala in character.
And in general... In general, DO: - be corteous to all people in the thread - read all posted infromation before asking a question - bring up all serious problems with the mods of the guild - keep an eye on flatsale, auction, event, and breeding information if you wish to own a Tala - be patient. Buffy is busy, and may not be able to prepare Talaye related items as fast as you'd like. Be nice to her. - have a good time - keep it PG-13
In general, DO NOT: - PM Buffy, Talaye owners, or the mods of this guild about owning a Talaye...ever! - beg - whine - guilt trip Buffy or Talaye owners - start flame wars. Take a probelm up with the mods. That's what they're for - steal any artwork presented in this shop, no matter who drew it - use bad language - be unkind to people who are new to the Talaye thread/guild. This includes ignoring people who do not own Talaye. - take anything too seriously. This is supposed to be fun.
